A lot of that looks really broken on paper.

    A few standouts are:
    - the 10% shield strength and cost passive
    - Abyssal impact, 5% more damage to a target...
    - Increased spell and weapon damage when gaining resources?
    - Pen for skills slotted. Arcanists might be able to fully pen players in PVP without much effort.
    - Minor breach skill to enemies attacking you
    - Minor protection, minor resolve for allies, and a safety heal in one skill.

It really is "Hermaeus Mora Cultist; The Class". Too much of a specific theme for me, I want less daedric in my magic.

Mechanically and visually though, it does look really good overall. Some really creative skills. I love the concept of the heal ult! Also the dps hyper beam.

I won't be playing it personally, but I bet there are gonna be a ton of happy new Arcanists on launch. For me, I am hoping for some QOL for the other classes (no-pet magsorc PLEASE) to appear on PTS to help inform my decision on what to play. I REALLY wanna play but... as per my sig, I have no class lol.

I hope it's temporary. The last thing I want is an annoying minion in my way all the time.

Honestly, I'm pretty excited. Watched Deltia's and Nefas's videos, and my main concern was assuaged. I was worried about being like Necromancer, which has always felt clunky to me, and that was specifically addressed in Nefas's video. After watching those, I'm only concerned about the aiming called out by Deltia, where some of the skills don't have auto-aim and require a lot more situational awareness. Especially on console, I already find the aiming to have weird logic at times, so it's going to be interesting to see this play out. In any case, looking forward to trying it..

I can't help but wonder... they say they want people to be able to be full tank without having to rely on other skill lines, but they don't offer a class source for Major Breach, which IMO is extremely important for a tank to provide. Tanking isn't just about taunting, which they did add a class taunt, but no Major Breach.

I think it is a bit OP tbh, another class with an inmense amount of buffs unlike base classes making it OP by definition.

Remember it is not only how scale the damage on classes and how they can buff or nerf classes abilities. It is the buffs classes have/provide that makes it OP because ZOS can nerf abilities but not major/minor buffs, they are a fixed number.

For example in a PvP perspective, warden is one of the classes that have more buffs compared to others, when you buff a bit wardens, they become an absolute monsters, it doesn't happen with sorcerer for example, just because they dont have that many buffs.

Also seems like the new class have some abilities with many buffs in one skill that provides too much, they will have more buffs in one bar than other classes, I wish ZOS make choose players wich one pick to have more or less the same amount instead of put 3 or 4 buffs in one ability.

Another point is that the class visuals are amazing for sure, making other classes really outdated with a need of new visuals, if not some skill lines rework, (not like the new spear of templars, [snip] imho) :).

Gain crux and proc 2 passives: Fated Fortune increases critical damage, Hideous Clarity regains mag/stam.

Regaining mag/stam procs Harnessed Quintessence, which increases weapon/spell power.

Spamming Runeblades will generate crux, and so:

    - Increase critical damage
    - Regain mag/stam
    - Increase weapon/spell power

while also giving either a splash effect or increased crit for the morphs.

And increasing the damage for the majority of subsequent skills you use because of the crux you generate.

I'm surprised the embargo didn't hold till the presentation as I think an introduction with visuals would sell it better than text.

I don't think I'm really the audience for the class at all.

Seems really overpowered in debuff/buffs/dps of supports like it will shake up what the go-to trial configuration will be and increase in-content damage ceilings, which I find insulting since everyone got nerfed already because damage was too high…

Wow, that rune of displacement morph is insane. They are giving Arcanists a skill that is basically Dark Convergence. Wild...

Which is consistent with removing something in anticipation of adding it back in something new: War Horn lost Toughness so Wardens could get it, then Wardens lost pen per skill so Arcanist could get it.

They are removing things to resell them in newer packages. ETA: And now I see there will be a mythic that increases skill damage while decreasing LAs and HAs? So yet another example of them stripping things to resell them.

Don't get me wrong. I'm curious to see how Arcanist ends up on the PTS and then on live. It seems like a fun new shiny to play with, although I can't tell from the descriptions how active the micromanagement will need to be (similar to how the original Warden and Necro were explicitly intended to be much more micromanagement-intensive than, say, Templar).

It's not a problem if the new shiny earns a place in group content - it would be sad to see it not competitive - but we already have a problem right now where a single class is so hands-down powerful in terms of damage and support that you stack a comp with it to the exclusion of certain other classes. I hope Arcanist doesn't repeat the pattern. It should be fun and feel good to play without being dominant, and that's been proving a challenge for the developers at this point in the game.

At a glance this class looks absurdly powerful, but I imagine once PTS goes live and everyone and their guar is testing it out things will be reigned in a little.
