Ya'll think this is some fad.
I've been waiting for A.I to get as good as ChatGPT4.0 for the last 20 years, and it's about time.
You think what we've seen in the last quarter is impressive, ya'll ain't seen nothing yet.

It's all going to change everything now.
The snowball has been three decades forming.
Now the avalanche is upon us.
It's going to be a glorious mess, and the very same tools which cause it will be the only thing that will clean it up.

Then, soon, we'll all be trapped inside a virtual reality either by the powers that be, or for our own good by our A.I creations.
    All hail our A.I overlords.

People were saying the same things 20 years ago, and about much the same technologies, particularly neutral nets and machine learning. They were saying the same things 30 years ago.

The wording and exact expections were a bit different but the optimism was the same 40 years ago and pretty much all the way back to when computers were first invented. (Even before then, if you use a loose definition of what a computer is.)

I'm sure AI is going to keep improving. One day we might even get to genuine intelligence. But I'm no longer expecting some kind of revolution where it all happens suddenly, I think it will continue to be a gradual progression.

This is an very outdated take on AI. That revolution, that's happening right now.

I've watched enough movies to know that I don't want to depend on A.I. for anything. The Matrix, The Terminator, The WOPR, and HAL 9000 -- all examples of A.I. Gone Wild. Yes these are just from fictional movies. But airplanes and space travel also used to just be fiction and look how that's became a reality.

We're not ready for sophisticated A.I. yet. These days it's common and accepted that all software has bugs with the main goal of just making some quick cash. So they'll probably make the A.I. buggy and then it'll just destroy us all. Or at the very least not open the damn door when we tell it to...

Well, that might be an extreme reaction. I favor a more measured approach. I'm so old I've seen everything change MULTIPLE times. And not everything has been an unmitigated disaster. So far....

I'm not really interested in messing with ChatGPT personally. But I'm also not condeming AI as that unmitigated disaster.

    Yet.

No, and I hope not ever, unless Bethesda trains the AI to use their assets and their assets alone. Currently, AI-generated art trains off of real people's works, and is essentially stealing art. Using AI art that does not use their assets alone will most likely cause copyright infringement. Real, living, breathing artists, whether it's 2d, 3d, music, or more, understand what Bethesda wants in their games than an AI will, as they can fully comprehend not stealing art, as well as legal things and more.

Really hope a terminator level scandal happens to kill this in the crib. AI is Abominable intelligence that needs to be purged.

There could be easily a mixed approach, as it is afaik already done in engineering and design. Whatever it is, the raw solution could be created by the machine and the human could decide if it is used. After the grunt work was done by the machine, the human could change it to better match it to the required functionality or aestethics.
There is also lots of nonsense talked about AI, like that one google engineer who thought that google's AI might have gained consciousness. There is no scientific definition of what "consciousness" even is, so claims like that are either wishful thinking or marketing BS.

There is a general problem though, not only an AI exclusive one; our economy doesn't really work with more and more automatization in the processes. Normally people need to work to gain money and there will be more and more unemployment with more and more efficiency gained from automatization. The solution could be to raise tax rates for companies depending on automatization, so that the gain in efficiency would mostly be an advantage for society as a whole instead for only some people. The money would have to be given to people as a substitution for wage. So people could work less and have more free time, companies would still make profit and the paradox of a fully automatized company that produces goods/services that no one can buy because people don't have money, could be avoided.
But then you would have to face an army of lobby organisations and legions of zombies who parrot "omg, communism!" whenever something is mentioned that would profit society as a whole.

Regarding AI generated art, i think there are at least two cases here.
The unproblematic one is when the AI was fed thousands of samples to learn how something has to look like. I don't think any copyright claim can be ever successful here, as there is no difference between that process and an artist who learned how to do art from studying other artists (or gaining "inspiration" from experiencing other things with the own senses).
The problematic one is when the AI was fed only one or few samples and the outcome was changed a bit by the input of the human. This has already happened and while i'm not a lawyer, i could imagine that every court would decide in favour of the copyright owner here, because the AI generated image would be probably far too similar to existing art.

Wouldn’t the infinite dungeon in Q4 already fall under this category? Can’t imagine any other way to design it besides AI

Move over, ChatGPT. Get out of the way, Midjourney. I’mma let you finish, but Minecraft is now the best AI of all time. Of. All. Time.

Wouldn't suprise me if the people at ZOS were already using some of AI. It would kind of explain some of the "issues" we've all seen over the last 18 moths or so.
