Occasional combat bug, unable to attack monsters mid-fight

One issue with this (may not of been your issue, but a common one) is that many monsters can stun you.

And currently the stun effect has NO animation. You simply can't move or use any abilities. So it can seem like a bug.

Really need to add an animation to the stun.

I get the same problem too, and use esc/open menu to allow me to use abilities again.

Let's hope they get around to fixing it - while it's not one of the major issues that needs fixing, it is pretty annoying. Always seems to happen to me at the wrong moment, leading to my death lol ...

It is a very major issue that needs fixing.
Should've been fixed in alpha/beta.

It is a very major issue that needs fixing.
Should've been fixed in alpha/beta.

I agree it should've been addressed, but there's a quick work-around while they fix major things like main story quests etc. Don't get me wrong, if they fixed it tomorrow I'd be like "thank god for that", because it is very annoying. I think the reality is though, that they're having to prioritise what they fix right now, and this one might be a little lower than some of the things they're addressing in 1.03.

since it seems to be related to a UI problem (indeed i noticed that ESC key or open inventory or anything else that chances interface solve the bug) i wonder if it can be related to FTC.
Are you, guys, using that addon ?

I'm not using any add-ons myself and I get this bug constantly. As for ESC or Map or Inventory "fixing" the issue, it almost really does nothing in my case, maybe for like 5 seconds, then another miss will occur at some point in the next fight, be it a charged 2H swing or a magic ability. Gotten to the point where I expect 20-30% of my abilities to miss per fight.

I have had this a lot, seems to be after blocking sometimes.

A quick ESC, ESC normally fixes it and gives me full control again though.

This happens a lot to me too. I have just been typing /sit. That fixes it for me. But I'll try ESC and toggling the map in the future too.

This happens to me all the time. I've just been patient in waiting for them to fix it. It's been stated multiple times in press reviews...etc as well.

Are you sure you guys aren't juts being stunned? When it happens click Right mouse button + left. There is no stun indication in this game (we need one), so give that a shot.

Nah, I can easily spot the difference. When I'm stunned, I just watch my ability bar until it's no longer greyed-out.

Im pretty sure when i've stunned a mob with Veiled Strike and i'm spamming Drain Essence like a maniac and nothing is working i'm not stunner

I get this too, i've had it inconsistently since the last Beta, after collision came in.. I just cannot attack or do anything but move, and i usually die.

Its been getting a lot worse lately, it used to be just for a second or two now its a while.

I have experienced this too. It is not a latency or stun issue because I can move or try to run away when my attack buttons are suddenly switched off. Hitting esc twice seems to fix it for me and hopefully not get killed while doing so. This is not an acceptable fix. This bug needs to be resolved ASAP.

Agreed pretty sure its not stunned because i can still move around i just cannot attack, if i were stunned i'd be stuck there.

Same here. Have to hit esc to be able to do anything. Feels like all your attacks have just gone poof! lol Unfortunately it is the same with a lot of other things in the game. Can't open containers or interact with npc's. Bank stops working and the list goes on.......

Force brought this up in one of his early PTS beta vids, the fact that the game just doesn't react to player input. You push a button and nothing happens. It's was one of his gripes.

It's been as bad as literally not being able to do anything during combat for me. Sometimes it's just a delay or one ability doesn't fire after repeatedly mashing a button, but sometimes I can't do anything, like swing weapons, fire bow, nothing. I know my character isn't stunned because I can move freely around.

For whatever reason, this is related to mouse cursor mode.
You can resolve it by pressing any button that shows and hides the cursor. Opening the map, your inventory, the chat input line, or even just hitting the mouse cursor toggle key.

It's extremely annoying and happens to me many times per day.

There is a keyboard combination that is causing this. It happens to me, usually when I am hot and heavy into a fight with multiple NPC's, and I am quickly hitting the various attack keys.

I usually hit the alt key twice really fast and that fixes the issue. Unfortunately, until the exact key combo is discovered, I do not imagine the dev's will have much luck tracking down the cause and fixing it in a future patch.

I've had the SAME a lot more lately happen. 4/15

It's NOT a stun. (Stun you can't move around still)

Able to move and jump, but not use my 1-5, U - action keys.

I've tired /Reloadui and no luck. Hitting RETURN key and/or ESC key seems to help, but not by the time you are DEAD from the MOB you are fighting killing you. As a healer I still need to heal myself, but can't when keys are stuck.

Oddly enough I've seen LESS of this bug since using the Pawkets' Lootdrop add-on. I also installed a spam filter addon (not that it helps much). Not using any other add-ons. There are some bugfixes mentioned for today's maintenance update (albeit mostly for quest issues), presumably the clients may be patched - it's worth seeing if this issue still happens again after the client patch.

well I am using a few addons, I wouldnt think some scrolling text, loot filters, gear durability and mini map would create a delay between me spamming a button and and the ability actually firing off instead of just standing there getting smashed in the face.

I got rid of this addon and several more and am just running the bare minimums IMO for play. Still getting this, and this problem existed well before addons were ever in the picture.

this is true... I experience that mostly with my sorc.. Because I also leveling a templar but I havent experienced that with a sword.

If we try to link the staff to damage the npc's, some times it doesnt, it looks our character is trying to do it, but he cant.. doing the half animation and stops. And I think I ve experienced that once with a bow, but the staff is all the time.
