How do I set my forum to ENGLISH only?

Elember

I see German and French and I don't need those languages when I am trying to find things in the forums. I can not find a way to get rid of other languages in the forums is there a way to set it so I don't see German and French?

Thanks...

I wish. Still don't see why a French Canadian would want to play on the NA server when the, I don't know, country of FRANCE, plays on the EU one....

Looks like we get all three languages no matter what you set your language to in the forums, which has to be a bug. Also if this is in game as well I am not sure I even want to start playing now until they get this fixed. Its not that I think English is the ONLY language or anything its just that I don't need to sift through things that I can't read anyway, it just makes things much more time consuming and I don't like to waste my time.

Yes I am from Canada as well, though I live in BC and while French is an official 2nd language in all of Canada I don't know it well enough to be able to read it so I don't need it, ever. Not to mention that I certainly do not need German...

And I can definitely understand a French Canadian wanting to play on the EU server...

As an English speaking American, which I'm guessing the majority of people on NA speak English natively, I just wish there was a way to filter out non English stuff in game. Hopefully an addon changes that soon.

An addon to filter chat would be useful for any number of situations (blocking WTB/WTS being another big one)

I want more chat channels. Lol. Language zone ones would be best.

It should not take a genius to figure out that if you set your language to say "English" and then when you login to the game it sets your chat to an all language included chat channel that this is not a good thing.

For folks to use the language zone chats it should auto log you into the language you have set and THEN if you want a chat that you want all the languages in you can change to that one but the all inclusive chat channels being the auto login ones is silly to say the least.

Part of the problem I think is the chat system isn't adequately demonstrated to new users. Many people are not aware of all the chat functionality that exists. Not sure how you can fix this but I think that is a common problem in MMOs.

You have to manually join the channels and they're even there on the English client. This does not prevent you from speaking in the regular zone chat(keep in mind there's a zone - English as well as zone - French and zone - German) in another language and I'm willing to pay my friend in Sweden to start rambling about gold sellers in svenska just to annoy people that are getting bent over foreign languages in a game.

    But that's just me.

um... why would french canadians play on a european server?? I would have to play early mornings (8 hour difference) AND all of my friends are here... Most french people in Canada will play in english, that`s a no brainer ;)

As for the forums, you originally see 3 choices, EN FR or DE at the very top. once you click on EN, you only see english. I really don`t see what`s wrong or confusing about that...?

Once in game all of the text is in english no worries. I sometimes chat in french with my friends. Today I saw a bit of spanish and russian. Don`t worry we don`t bite :p

Odd you make it sound so trivial, i have EN checked and i still see all the other mess.

I would agree that I much preferred the beta forums setup where the different languages were in their own sections.

French Canadians on the EU server is silly. Your language-based logic is totally flawed. If the EU server were francophone only, I can see an argument, but I suspect French might not even be the third most spoken language over there (I'd say English > German > Russian > others).

There will be plenty of both Quebecois and Latin Americans on the NA server imminently.

It'd be great if Bethesda/Zenimax's site worked as intended.

My forum language is set to English but everything displays in german. It's a poor impression and I won't be subscribing until it's fixed.

Is it really that hard to skip over the foreign language posts? I don't understand why it would be impacting your forum or game experience that much. I personally enjoy knowing I'm playing with people all across the world from different backgrounds, a few comments I can't understand doesn't suddenly make the game less fun.

If you select German or French on the forum, all the English posts still show up, which I think would be much more frustrating for someone trying to find helpful information as there are exponentially more English based forum posts than non.

The forums are just awful. Especially the official announcement ones which have all three languages just mixed together.

Seriously, why don't they make en.forums.elderscrollsonline.com fr.forums.elderscrollsonline.com de.forums.elderscrollsonline.com or even just make it based on what language you set like every other game does?

yeah its equally annoying to everyone playing across the world lol but i would love to see options here. if you would like the multicultural option then fine, if you prefer a specific language then bam! I just think if it were that easy of a fix for them they would have addressed it by now unfortunately

Because the French and Germans that are here very most likely also speak English as well, and would like to see the English threads?

Yes the forums could use some nesting and organization, but locking away the Europeans because people are getting bent out of shape over foreign languages on the forum or in game is just asinine. Seriously.

Indeed. And as a native English speaker who also reads the German forums, I like having the option to do so. I just ignore the French ones since I do not know how to read it. I honestly don't see what's so difficult about avoiding the languages you don't know.
