Cyrodiil Lag Offenders: Elemental Blockade Ice Shield and Necrotic Orb Spam...

Will the Devs please investigate these two animations for the reduction in FPS they cause?

Necrotic Orb, glowing circular orbs that slowly creep forward

Elemental Blockade , the ice shield that spins around the players

Also Siege Shield - something about those shaders (and siege animations in general) are like a guaranteed -20 FPS the moment that it goes up.

    Hi @godchucknzilla and @YandereGirlfriend

Following up on this thread. Our teams are looking into this and wanted to get some info from you to assist in their investigation. Could you please provide some hardware specs for us? It would be great if you could provide the following:
    • CPU:
    • Amount of RAM:
    • GPU:

This would be really helpful. Thanks so much.

Heyo @ZOS_Kevin, sorry for taking so long to get back to you!

    Currently, my setup is:

    CPU: AMD 5800x3D (undervolted)
GPU: AMD 6900XT (overclocked - driver version 22.11.2 - FSR disabled)
    RAM: 32 GB 3600Mhz CL14 (overclocked and overvolted - extremely tight sub-timings)

I've done fairly extensive tuning to hit a stable 144 FPS at 1440p. The one big exception is during siege on rams and, as I mentioned, as soon as a Siege Shield gets thrown down. During these periods, I'll have standard frame drops down into 120-130 territory and, if the siege is large enough (and/of if there are a bunch of Siege Shields around), down to 80-100.

Anecdotally, tuning my RAM and VRAM helped the most to improve my frame drops. As did moving to the 5800x3D from a simple 5600X. It's fairly well known that ESO is more of a CPU-limited game than GPU-limited and that was certainly my experience as well. Back in the 5600X days, my CPU would max out at 100% utilization while playing ESO while my GPU would be maxing out at ~60%. With the 5800x3D, my CPU utilization hits 85-90% with 100% max GPU utilization. Those max values are always achieved during sieges on a hot ram with Siege Shields sprinkled around.
