Quality of Life Suggestion: Uncouple Psijic Skill Line from Summerset Main Quest

Psijic Order may be the worst skill line grind in the game; the questline constantly teases a story while you're forced to ride to ten locations to mash interact, then repeat ad nauseam. To top it off, before you can even begin this dreary ordeal, you have to sit through "The Queen's Decree."

It's not that "The Queen's Decree" is a bad quest. It's just that you're forced to do it repeatedly, unlike leveling Fighters Guild and Mages Guild, which do not require you to engage with their respective questlines. Additionally, it's annoying for those of us who want to save questlines for later, when we actually want to replay them.

I suggest that, instead, the player may begin the Psijic "questline" and gain the skill line as long as they can reach Artaeum, such as by traveling to a friend or guildmate.

Loremaster Celarus' dialogue references "The Queen's Decree," so I suggest it be altered as follows, with the bolded portions edited out of the audio to make new lines (the original dialogue can play if you join the Psijics after completing "The Queen's Decree"):

"Friend of Valsirenn, I have a proposal for you."

"Tranquil greetings, ceruval. You will forgive me if I seem awkward. We rarely entertain guests here on Artaeum. I am Celarus. Ritemaster Iachesis told me a great deal about you. I suspect he has plans for you... within the Psijic Order."

At this point, the player's dialogue prompt can be changed from "You're offering me a place in the Psijic Order? Do I even qualify for membership?" to something like "Do I qualify for membership in the Psijic Order?"

"The Ritemaster holds you in high regard. That is proof enough of your worthiness. The Psijic Order requires practical wisdom. Outside perspective. Unless I miss my guess, you can provide both. You would be a worthy addition to our ranks."

Alternatively, Celarus' dialogue could be compressed into one initial text box reading:

"Tranquil greetings, ceruval. You will forgive me if I seem awkward. We rarely entertain guests here on Artaeum. I am Celarus.

The Psijic Order requires practical wisdom. Outside perspective. Unless I miss my guess, you can provide both. You would be a worthy addition to our ranks."

This might better match his pre-quest dialogue of having "a proposal" for the player.

I do not think that this change would devalue purchasing the skill line from the Crown Store, as the player would still need to complete the ten quests to reach rank 10 of the skill line. This would only avoid having to do "The Queen's Decree" before starting the mind-numbing task of finishing the Psijic quests.

I would love such a change! I hate starting a questline I don’t intend to do (at least not yet) on a character. I’m glad that none of the other collections or questlines are gated in this way!
