I checked before & I don't think there's a way to switch the chat UI back as the usual PC one when that mode is activated. Not exactly.
The second pic has a couple of additional newer lines above the message shown in the first pic that didn't come from Zone chat:
"You earned 1820 experience points." and another unreadable one above that.
To the OP: Zone chat can be turned off by going to chat options and unchecking the 'Zone' box.1 -

I want to keep the chat while in Cyrodiil...it is the size of the chat in the first image I want to remove but not the smaller chat (that I want to keep).
Without it, I always go to the wrong spot. I am the leader in 0 AP....

I don't know why ZOS thought it was a good idea adding the console chat UI in PC/Steam accessibility mode or not a built-in toggle. ✭✭✭✭✭You can change the size of the stock chat box, and make the font larger or smaller. My chat boxes are between 1/16 and 1/32 of the screen. I also have the box placed in the lower left hand corner next to my Mini Map. It is a bit fiddly to do this, but you click on the edges and drag.
You can also change the opacity of the window in Settings. There are addons that offer more control over chat too. Like hiding it all together when nothing is being said.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

✭✭FCO CHAT TAB BRAIN- Annoying chat notifications can be deleted or directed to chat window, chat window would stay minimized when changing zones or reloading the UI and many more settings. Makes the Chat Background fade instantly. Also lets your customize your chat to be functional, I made it one Tab for each category: Zone = Z, Say = S , Whisper = W, Group = G, Initials of Each Guild, "~" is empty for full immersion with no chat box or text showing when on it.
SETTINGS -> SOCIAL -> CHAT SETTINGS -> MINIMUM TRANSPARENCY- Controls when the Background of the Chat will disappear. If you want to have an UI free screen without minimizing the chat and seeing that Triangle, Create a new chat tab with the + Icon, Un-check all options and name it. Then you can play with that chat window open and the background of the chat will fade according to the settings you set in your transparency timings setting options .
