What do you do when walking / running / riding toward another character?

Just a curiosity question really. As the title says - if you are heading toward another player or NPC whilst running /riding do you swerve to avoid them or do you just go straight through them?

Personally I do try to swerve out of their way.

I move out of their path most of the time.
    But sometimes I don't.

If I'm paying enough attention to notice and not in too much of a rush to get to my destination I'll go around them.

But if I'm in a town (where this most often happens) there's a good chance I'm looking at chat or turned around looking at something else in the room and barely paying enough attention to where I'm going to avoid crashing into walls.

Interesting, I thought I was weird for always trying to avoid riding through players when there is no collision with them anyway. I've crashed into NPCs a few times when they didn't render fast enough, boy was that annoying. Avoiding the latter is kind of a necessity since they act as walking roadblocks.

I swerve to avoid them. NPCs you have to do this since you'd crash into them otherwise. For players you don't, but I do it anyways. I like immersing myself in the world as much as possible, and something about walking straight through someone feels very un-immersive haha

I usually try to move to the side. However, I've noticed an increasing number of people who deliberately change direction to go through me when I do that. Maybe it's a weird sissy passive aggressive thing I don't understand or something.

I try to swerve to avoid them, yes, but I'm not always paying attention and will not be able to swerve in time sometimes. I know it doesn't really matter, but it does look weird to walk through a person.

Depends where I am, if I am out in overland questing I will generally move to avoid going through them.

If I am taking part in a busy activity like the various reskins of dolmens or the dragons where you have a lot of people riding from the wayshrines toward the location of the activity and back again, then I don't worry so much about riding through others.

If I am in a busy city I am much more likely to just ride through them, especially when doing daily writs or in narrow streets, if the street is less populated or more open I will at least try to avoid going through someone.

It's one thing to swerve when there is only a few people there but if its a crowd, I just give up and ride on through.

Are you sure they're not trying to go around you at the same time and just happen to turn in the same direction?

That happens fairly often in real life and I'm sure that's not people trying to be annoying.

Sometimes I notice that when I try to pass by on the left side (I live in the UK), they seem to try to pass by their right side (continent? anywhere else that doesn't drive on the left side?), and we can at least partially go through each other. :D Maybe this is what happens, not malice (although I'm sure there are some weirdos that would do that on purpose for whatever reason).

If they are in town, offroad in the wild, or in inventory, I avoid them to not annoy them. But when on the road or mounted, I just run through them. At crowded quest NPC's and crafting stations I stand in them, unless we are the only two or three players there. In that case I feel it is more polite to just go and stand next to them.

Usually I swerve but if there is a group (player+companion+winged Twilight+clannfear+pet) blocking my way, I run or ride through them on purpose. This groups drive me crazy. :D

Npc's i ride around because i otherwise crash into them.
Players i ride through because i imagine they get a jumpscare when someone rides through them from behind in the middle of the woods. Probably not true but thats how i imagine it :P
If i can endure the inane prattle in chat, I can survive your assuredly erudite eluciations. Proceed.

I go around. And I don’t ride in town. Making the player/NPC decision repeatedly gets tiring, and it’s easier to avoid them all.

Funny, but great topic, as I too often wonder if it's just me. I just can't help but swerve. Possibly immersion, or some artifact of driving IRL.

It doesn't really bother me if someone passes through me or go around.
Only exception is flying parrots, I always stay away, going around players who use them.

I always move around them. One, it's the more polite thing to do. Two, I'm almost always immersed in roleplaying, even when I'm by myself, and my characters are not the sort to just plow over other people. :)

I generally ignore the presence of other players when I'm soloing, especially in crowded areas, and run/ride through player characters in my path without a 2nd thought. Players passing through me doesn't bother me and it never occurred to me that it might bother anyone else.

I don't consciously do anything, but now I'm going to pay more attention because I'm curious if I move around them without thinking about it.

I do deliberately move after using a wayshrine, particularly one in a busy town, so I'm not standing in a pile of other players.

I always jump over them or occasionally go around.

Maybe jumping over is just as annoying as going through I don't know but I find it funny.

I will attempt to jump over the character, if not... I otherwise will run the player or NPC over.

I discovered that I do tend to veer around other players except when using a crafting station, banker or merchant. Then I just jump into the pile and take care of my business.
