Merge Stamina and Magicka

Since it doesn't really matter anymore, why not just merge both Stamina and Magicka?

Let's say, new resourse would be named as Energy

So, both Stamina + Magicka would be Energy

Stamina + Magicka regen would be Energy regen

Weapon damage and Spell damage would be converted to Power

All skills will require and spend Energy to cast, and their damage/heal value would be affected by Power.

Elem or Martial types would stay tho, this is cool mech.

What do you think?

    There's nothing wrong with separate stamina, magicka, and hybrid builds in my experience since launch. I'm fine with their separate identities, and I'd hate to further trivialise the game by merging them. This is a non-issue.

    This game is already casualed and trivilaized by insane level, this will break nothing more as it is atm )

    It does matter though. If I roll dodge or block on my magicka characters it doesn't eat into my main resource. With some tank builds it matters. Stamina and magicka being separate allows more control with how a player decides to use their tank.

    You will have Stamina + Magicka pool

    Also, you wont be able to perma block and when your Stam low just use some Mag skill and return shton Stam back

    having a health, magicka, and stamina bar in my opinion is a defining part of the elder scrolls experience

    This would be the ultimate "hybridization," and while I haven't really been against hybridization thus far I would be against this. You can use any ability you want now and it'll be effective regardless of which resource is higher. But you still need to be able to sustain, so there is still a little bit of skill and deviation (from other people,) in how you do it.

    This would just make it so nothing at all effected your ability choices and everybody would immediately become the same. Basically what people complain about already but to a much higher degree.

    I do not think this would "make us use our brain" I think this would dumb things down incredibly.

    I don't love the idea of merging them, but I believe it's the only solution to balance sustain. The hybrid builds have been a fun an interesting addition to ESO, but they created a problem: hybrids have double the sustain of single resource build. This resulted in all group sustain sets falling out of use, and the niche pure magicka or pure stamina builds being nearly impossible to sustain.

    I don't think it's necessary to rename the resource, just make all abilities consume magicka (even the weapon lines), and leave stamina for dodge, block, roll, sprint and break free. It was similar to this in the early days, and the movement toward more and more stamina skills no longer makes sense.

    I've been into the idea of merging the basic damage stats (Damage and Crit instead of Weapon Damage and Weapon Crit). Especially now but even before, these seemed a bit redundant when we already had bonus modifiers at the flame, shock, bleed, etc. level.

    Resources though I think have to stay. Not only is Magicka and Stamina a staple mechanic in the Elder Scrolls, it is also the foundation for a true hybrid build. Balancing the usage and recovery of each resource is supposed to be the minigame that makes hybrids actually feel different to play than pure builds, and can provide opportunities for ZoS to add mechanics related to that minigame to further diversify the gameplay within that build category.

    I get where you're coming from with the hybridization changes making the differences when choosing between them negligible, but it is an elder scrolls game and all elder scrolls games have both mag and stam as core resources for doing things.

    Nope, separate stamina/magicka/health resource pools are core to elder scrolls games.

    I would however like to see damage scale off your combined stamina and magicka pools (while retaining the same overall damage scaling relative to current scaling) to better cope with hybridization. IMO it makes no sense to be incentivized to use skills from both resource pools while being punished if you want to split your resource allocation.

    Your logic is totally correct as action game design. However, ESO is more like traditional RPG.
    Immersion is more important rather than just game system. I don't want to see "Gandalf" who acts like
    martial arts specialist in the fantasy world. And, warrior type player should be more athletic appearance.
    So, we need specific weapon based on different combat energy element.

    I want to keep both element for the "ROLE PLAYING GAME".

    No, there's already some dilution of class identity, imagine if everyone used the same resources for spell or stabbing.. nope.

    Also, I have mainly stam characters that also use a magicka skill to offset some of the cost and allow for regaining stam in the cooldown.

    and.. I'd like there to be at least some forward thinking in build and combat instead of dumbing everything down... might as well turn eso into a mobile game at that point

    They already decided that Dragonknights should have be subjected to the "stamina and magicka class spammable" nonsense even though not a single person playing Dragonknights wanted that nor asked for it. I'd rather have 1 resource than this sustain nightmare ZOS decided to put my mains in. But most of all I just wish they reverted the nonsense.

    As a single bar, no. Tanks use both; one for block, dodge, bash, and some abilties. Then the other for abilities, except in those cases where someone may use magicka for blocking. Managing those 2, 3 if you count health, resources adds something to the role. Without it, it would be pretty boring.

    But ooooooooooooold ES games has many more, that were gone or changed in later games and specifically in the ESO.

    Last I checked, Skyrim is still flogging anniversary editions. Until that changes, I'd be pretty surprised if ESO gives up one of its major visual connections to the most popular game in the main series.

    ZoS won't do this because "Elder Scrolls." Play another "MMO" if you want to break away from the Elder Scrolls theme. The large majority (casuals) play and spend money on this game because it is an Elder Scrolls theme park.
