How do you get tickets for the event?

Am i suppose to be getting tickets? I go do the one quest in NE but havent gotten any tickets like the event last month? Am i doing something wrong? Thanks

You need to do one daily quest in N Elsweyr, and one daily quest in S Elsweyr for a total of 2 tickets each day. These are the dailies offered by various NPCs in Rimmen and Senchal, marked by the blue daily arrows - and NOT the daily crafting writ quests available there.

You do a single daily quest in N. Elsweyr and a single daily in S. Elsweyr. This doesn't include the holiday quest. 1 ticket per zone.

You get event tickets from turning in zone-specific daily repeatable quests in Northern and Southern Elsweyr, 1 ticket from each zone, i.e. total of two tickets per day per account. You need to do the delve or boss or dragon (or dragonguard) dailies; the crafting writ dailies do not count. The special "holiday event quest" from the crown store also doesn't count.

As usual, there are two important reasons why you might still not get event tickets when turning in a daily in those zones:
1. if you are already at the ticket cap (12 tickets max), you will NOT receive a ticket, although you will still get a glorious (gold) event reward box if it is your first valid daily quest completed for the day.
2. if you are not paying attention to the daily quest reset time, you might be turning in a daily on the same (event) "day" as your previous event completion. On the NA servers, the daily reset is at 1am EST (6am UK time). Your first Elsweyr zone dailies turned in AFTER 1am EST will count for the new day's event ticket(s if both zones are done) and the glorious reward box. Any subsequent zone daily completed over the course of that same day gets double quest rewards etc., but no event tickets. (For EU servers, I think the daily quest reset is at the same time as NA, but it might have recently been brought to an earlier time like the daily login reward times?)

Ok i have done it in N Elsweyr on 3 characters and i havent gotten 1 ticket yet. I am not doing the optional steps though, do i need to do those. And i just now went to S Elsweyr and i dont see an event area toon the map to even get a quest.

Note that Sunspire counts for the Northern Elsweyr ticket, so be sure not to be at cap if doing that trial during the event.
