I like many things in eso, but I am not a fan of it’s combat system at all.

If I could get a legal mod/add-on that made it more enjoyable, I would totally do it and not feel at all guilty about it.

How is that the benefit? That was the cost of using it I believe.

I was refering to the bunch of people who said that they are unable to deal with bar swapping and juggling dots for whatever reason and that oakensoul finally allowed them to be competitive.

But to answer your initial question: as you certainly know, they did nerf the ring, yes. But it is still good enoug to deal a significant ammount of damage as Soarora pointed out.

I used it, but I think I am not now. I don't bar swap much and I had the impression it was not nearly as useful, which was my point. It was great at the start, but I had thought the nerf limited it more than you note. No idea if that is fully true, but that was only my note - that the Oakensoul ring is not as strong as it was.

Sorry, but using macros for DPS is like buying ready made meals. Yeah you get something in your belly but, for me at least, i rather eat dry and stale bread.

One has to work to get top dps the same way as you have to work to get the best gear and the top ingredients for your food and pots. DPS is also not everything, you can have CP2500+ players, hitting a ton on a dummy, but in trials they still end up dead on the floor. And a dead DD is as good as no DD.

And you are the exception, at least that would seem accurate based on the number of premade meals sold in grocery stores and such.

Some of those meals can be reasonably good, so they remain popular. The same could apply to this idea, though I would not count on it ever happening and doubt I would use it even though I am not the strongest player.

This. The combat in this game is the only thing I dislike intensely about the game.

The other day someone was suggesting an addon that shows you the most advantageous moves in ToT, now this.

I don't hate people who use Paul Oakenfold's ring, I just want them to be able to do their assigned tasks: to heal me and to kill that angry boss before it turns me into something resembling bloody mashed potatoes. I myself can't wear the ring to do hard content because the loss of 6 skills would be detrimental to myself and the team, but I've been putting it on for easier dungeons.

No, an addon that did the rotation for the player would be unfair to those who took the time and effort to practice and improve. Not everyone can achieve perfect rotations, but then not everyone is expected to be able to clear the most difficult content.

    "Unfair"? Really?

I don't think we will ever see it, but not because it is "unfair". HarvestMap is "unfair" to those who spent skill points on the "see stuff' skills. So what? It is a useful addon that really should be in the game itself. They could take it away, but it would raise quite a bit of an outcry now since it has been around for so long.

Too many jump to the "unfair" reasoning far too quickly.

I am never going to have an optimal rotation, so is the game "unfair" to me? (No practicing enough won't negate my eye-hand coordinating challenges.)

I don't see how HarvestMap is unfair to those who spent skill points on the keen eye passives, especially since I use that addon and spent the points. I also believe it's a tad bit harder to master rotations than to acquire the points for the passives. The problem with your comparison is that HarvestMap doesn't play the game for you, it just makes nodes more visible by category. An addon that does rotations for the player means no skills and little effort would be necessary to complete the same challenges for which people spent countless hours practicing. We're not talking of an addon that provides useful combat information or alerts, but one that does most of the fighting for you. In sum, yes, unfair.

Decided you intend to place 11 magsorc bots with great AOE and self-heals in fast spawning mobs area, script timed casts and collect the loot with the 12th bot roaming between that farming eleven.
Very bad idea, in my opinion.

I don't use addons for harvesting or combat. Mine are all UI and QOL stuff that makes the game look like I want it to look because there's only one way I want a game to "look" while I'm playing.

Nearly 40 years of playing computer games.... so there's a lot of things that I really expect to find in any game I play to make my gameplay how I want it - and that means a game without addons is not a game I will buy or play.

What if, ZoS release API to allow addons cast Skills?

Why play the game when the game can play itself for you? Seriously though. The only thing different from this and playing the game is we would still have to move the character around.

I expect a maco works fine for a DPS dummy but in a real fight that is fluid a macro doing a rotation would cause more issues than it could solve. A macro will waste dots that do not have enough time doing damage to be worth applying. What happens to that macro when one has to change targets and the player is stuck in the middle of it? Less damage on the adds is what happens.

Paying attention to what is happening around them, at their feet, and what mechanics are occurring is the biggest issue lower dps player have Such a system cannot them pay attention for mechanics.

It is best that a player learns to play their character if they want to improve.

Have you tried finding things without HarvestMap? It is very difficult, especially prior to getting the skill points to show the mat spawns, but even tougher with that. I remember looking for my first herbs for my starter crafting quest when I first played and that was very hard!

It also lets me see spawn spots for treasure chests and heavy sacks, so I can usually see them before someone without it. (And grinding to highlight treasure chest locations takes a LONG time.)

You may not consider it unfair, but my point is that arguing that something is "unfair" is more like what my grandson does on a regular basis than what impacts most players.

Just say you don't think it is appropriate. It doesn't need to be "unfair" to be opposed. Not sure you will catch the point I am trying to make, so feel free to disagree instead.

Do you play games other than a couple of MMOs? I can't think of many addons for other games, but then I have been out of most single player games for quite some time, and I played them when addons didn't exist for any.

Macros could potentially be used on a target dummy for objective comparisons, but they would be extraordinarily useless in any difficult content. No end game player wants an addon determining what they cast and when. Dungeon and trial fights are way too reactive for that, and often contain RNG controlling mechanic timing/locations so every pull is a little different. Learning when to recast DoTs or focus on spammables, which skills to prioritize, overcasting vs undercasting, ground effect positioning, synergies, cleave vs single target is all crucial to being a useful damage dealer and no pre-scripted sequence can compete with players.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).
