Can you solo World Bosses?

There is an opinion out there that the majority of people who play this game cannot solo WBs. Is that true?

I can solo all basegame WBs, but there are some DLC WBs that give me greif

My Trial Tank can solo WBs eventually.

My nightblade in stealth gear can solo any base game WB with a geared out Isobel.

I am maxed on Champion Points.

For anyone at least 800 CP or less, in basic dungeon and crafted gear, without access to the most recent Chapter where WBs are farmed routinely… yeah even a base game WB would probably be out of reach.

I wont sit here and say that I can solo every WB in the game, because I simply havent tried. I have yet to find one I couldnt solo after a few tries to figure out the basic mechanics, but in my experience, Soloing DLC WBs is hard because people almost always show up to help. For example, I am not sure its possible to solo a dragon. Never fought one without at least 1 or 2 other people in the area.

Not too long ago, shortly after stickerbook, I did solo every base game WB on my mageblade, and a good chunk of the DLCs. I wanted to fill my book, and I also wanted to see if I could solo all the base game WBs, so it was a 2 birds scenario. Only a handful were even remotely tricky, mostly because of excessive stuns. I did it in a glass cannon trial build and just face tanked them and parsed. Most only require the occasional block or dodge roll, once you figure what mechanics need respected and what can be ignored.

I didnt get around to every DLC, because some of the DLCs I already had full stickerbooks so I simply didnt bother. I am guessing there are a handful where you would probably need to tool your build a little more towards solo content.

What's the point in the split between base game and dlc? Wouldn't it be better just to ask if you can do All, Most, Some, or None?

I can do a lot of bosses on my main, but not all. I don't know which option to pick here.

Companions help a whole lot, but there are a handful of DLC WBs that have BS mechanics or spam AOEs that companions don't know how to deal with without belly flopping on the floor.

I did this because the average dlc wb is quite a bit harder than the average base game wb.

The only ones that I have trouble with are the ones that lock down and require interrupt. Sometimes, with a companion, the interrupt can be done.

Walks Like Thunder I haven't done solo and probably won't be able to because of mechanics. The Unmaker I haven't done solo yet, but I think I can when I get the timing down on when to cast Precognition. All the rest I have done solo.

I call out in zone for help with all WBs

The options are certainly strange. I don't actually call out for help in zone chat, I don't have that enabled, but I either join in cooperatively, wait a few minutes to see if anyone is coming, or move on. I don't specifically target world bosses, I just check them out if I'm passing. I know that I couldn't solo a world boss and I have no interest in doing so.

I doubt that the forum will give a truly representative answer to the question, but I base my own view that the majority of players don't solo world bosses on the fact that in eight and half years of wandering past world bosses I've seen perhaps 2 people soloing them, one of whom if I remember correctly died doing so anyway! I don't doubt that there are players who solo them, but it's not a common sight, that's for sure.

The Unmaker in Fargrave requires an interrupt when he pins you down or he will kill you. I haven't been able to even use precognition to get out of it. Despite the telegraph on the ground, it also seems like it's not actually able to be dodge rolled. You can't get a companion to help because the companion will die to the aoe.

haven't tried Wuvi (wyuvus?) in vvardenfell recently without psijic ultimate,

for base game melted any i've fought, as for dlc wb - have to make some effort.

I mean, we're all strangers to each other. Epeen and egos are such a trivial thing to waste brain space on. I'll openly admit when I am not good enough to do something, and if somebody else wants to waste time judging me for it, I pity how bored they are. I personally don't care what you or another guy can or can't do, or what you have or don't have.

Edit: You shouldn't define your self-worth based on other people's opinions of you, especially when fear of those opinions makes you withhold honesty.

They really are very different. All base game WBs have essentially the same amount of health. They can be killed in under a minute with a standard DPS trial build, typically using nothing more than a handful of dodgerolls for defense.

DLC WBs are far more varied in the difficulty and the mechanics they require you to follow. I have not tried all, but as others have said, there may actually be some that prevent soloing. Unavoidable Pins/lockdowns may or may not make it impossible, I really don't know.

They also typically have way more health and more adds, and some have effective one shot mechanics for a lower health DPS build. Even if soloable, they become much more of a war of attrition because you probably cant sustain a face tank and parse strat like you can on the non DLCs. Some would certainly require you to use more of a solo/arena build.

Wyuvus has been soloable for ages. Keep up a self heal (ritual, crit surge etc) or use Pale Order and just keep up lots of DoTs (even easier now they last forever). You're only pinned for a few seconds before you can break free.

I've soloed every boss except The Unmaker due to the pin, and Walks like Thunder due to running out of sustain after he inevitably heals when I don't manage to get the totems fast enough. By the time I get him to around 40% I've lost the will to go on and give up.

Yep I can soloed most world bosses, with base game I can do all, but few DLC (like Unmaker, Walks-Like-Thunder) are a pain to do.

To add in, somewhat the same with group dungeons, that I can soloed but a few I can't due of mechanics.

Edit: Gonna rephrase on Walks-Like-Thunder, I have soloed it, but it was a pain, & rephrase on The Unmaker as well, times when I go & fought it others are already there. So yeah I haven't actually tried soloing that one yet.

How did you solo Unmaker in Fargrave? It has a pin mechanic that needs to be interrupted that doesn't release you by using precognition as far as I can tell. Can you get a companion to do it? Is there something about the timing of precognition that I am missing?

Dragons are world events, not world bosses.

I can do most of the basegame WBs, but DLC WBs are hard!

I chose the option that's closest to my situation, but none of them are ideal fits.

I can solo most, but not all, of the base-game WBs. It might be that I just haven't worked out the best way to handle their mechanics, but some of the base-game WBs are beyond me for now.

I can solo several of the DLC WBs, and it varies a good bit by zone.

For instance, on my PC NA main I can solo all of the WBs in Vvardenfell and Northern Elsweyr, although at one time they were beyond me. I can solo a couple of the WBs in Wrothgar, Summerset, and Western Skyrim, and at least one WB in High Isle.

Most of the WBs in the smaller 2-WB DLC zones are beyond me, although I can solo one or two of them.

As far as the WBs that I cannot solo, I can usually hold my own against most of them for a while, but will generally get killed if someone else doesn't show up and help.

Note that I don't use any potions to heal myself or restore my Stamina and Magicka resources. If I were to start doing that, I'd probably be able to solo a lot more of the WBs, not to mention doing a little better at PvP.

I can solo 100% of all WBs in the game

Without any companion I can solo all world bosses. It takes some time and a lot use of my defensive back bar on PVP character but it is doable. When I have Isabella out I can go full on DPS and not worry so much about dying or taking damage.

But, I become more powerful with each CP I gain, so one day... ONE DAY!

The Unmaker is very easy when...

you know that the pin mechanic has a minimum range. Just stay in it's face the whole time and you won't get pinned.

As for Walks...

Some of the totems can be LOS'd. Bring an AoE heavy build (Heavy Attack Sorc works very well), pull him behind the ledge to the left of the entry, and just parse. Be sure to keep totems and boss in AoE.

Dragons are world events, not world bosses.

Companions can interrupt the unmaker if you are able to keep close to them when the pin happens. But you have to be stacked on the companion pretty closely for it to happen.

Basegame ones, yeah, no problem. DLC ones, hell no. I once came close to soloing the Mantikora but then got oneshot by one of it's BS invisible attacks and decided never to waste my time on it again. Some of the DLC ones might be within my reach, but it would probably be like soloing a vet dungeon, by the time I'm finished my hand would be numb from all the clicking. So screw that noise.

Honestly, companions really don't do anything special in a WB fight. I can do WBs just as well with or without them, and usually they are dead like 30 seconds in anyways. The only spot they provide any assistance is with pin mechanics, and that is like 2 bosses.

I often have trouble with the hardest world boss in a base zone. Other than that, soloing them is pretty straightforward.

That's without companions, and in most cases without Ring of the Pale Order as well. I haven't circled back to see how much difference they make.

I've occasionally soloed a DLC world boss. Usually I'd only try that for an event, so somebody shows up anyway. I haven't felt motivated to learn mechanics when that's the issue.

the only WB i found pretty much impossible to solo is the miregaunt WB in murkmire, not because it is killing me, but because of its dang healing totems healing it at such a rapid rate before you can kill the totems while solo

other world events (dolmens, geysers, harrowstorms) ive been able to solo too (at least during off-peak hours), ive tried soloing a dragon and i could definitely do it, the only problem i had was you know people still showing up because it was marked on map lol (the closest ive solo on a dragon before someone show up was about 45% of their hp)
