The Oakensoul ring is weak?

Neither weak nor strong. But if you don't like waiting for hours in a queue or you want to solo Worlbosses in virtually dead zones it certainly is a god send.

I personally preferred it when it gave Major Heroism/Slayer but in its current, somewhat neutered form is still useful.

Does OK for farming solo arenas and in some dungeon/trial trash pulls for instance.

Goes easier on my aches and pains than a two-bar dynamic rotation build too, which means I can do 'more' before I have to call it quits or else.

Shame they swapped those two major buffs for minor ones though, along with heroism pots and stacking minor and major slayer it was fantastic.

    Now is just... OK.

Oakensoul Ring is such a great and powerful item because it enables a completely new and viable play style which helps raise the floor for all players to excel and partake in endgame content. All content, actually. With Heavy Attack builds, you can do 100k+ DPS without spending hundreds of hours trying perfect some kind of archaic tenth-of-a-second light attack weaving rotation. Sure, the top 1% of dps players can reach 110-120 using LA two bar builds but the difference is that in real world content, a HA build is going to be able to maintain a high level of damage even while engaging with mechanics. A LA build will do anything from 30k to 110k but a HA build will do 70k to 90k in real world trial situations. The floor is higher so the overall DPS of 90% of players sees an overall increase. There will always be a place for those 130k two-bar score pushers. Oakensoul can’t replace that. But for the rest of us it’s amazing and for me personally has completely revitalized my interest in ESO. The best food for this build is green food. You don’t need any potions, you don’t need any synergies, you always have full resources. The HA rotation is challenging enough to be interesting but not insane like juggling 16 abilities. It’s great. I’m spreading it to everyone I meet. It’s not cheese and you are absolutely a ‘real dps’. Don’t listen to the toxic elite who are upset that the commoners are in the country club.

I agree on everything but the green food. Bewitched Sugar Skulls (Increase Max Health by 4620, Max Stamina and Magicka by 4250, and Health Recovery by 462 for 2 hours) combines very well with many oakensoul builds.

It was OP at launch. I dont say this often, but the nerfs were warranted, and they got it just about right as far as I can tell. I give the current version a 8 or 9/10 in the balance department. If anything, its still a touch too strong. I could certainly argue its still a bit too powerful in places like VMA. Flawless and Spirit Slayer use to mean something, not so much anymore.

Oakensoul just needs a few more tweaks and IMO it would be a great ring and nothing to over the top.

I would like to see all the minor buff that mirror the major buffs on the ring added. For instance minor resolve and minor sorcery. Other than those few missing buffs I think the ring is in a really good spot.

No, because you absolutely have to run it on a tank or get NERFED
Making a game fun should be a priority. Making a game balanced should not come at the expense of fun.
