Another uninspiring year for ESO PvP.
    • No new battlegrounds
    • No improvements to dueling
    • No enhancements to Imperial City. Adding new outfit styles doesn't qualify as an enhancement.
    • Yes, we got a Cyrodiil performance boost but that seemed short-lived. The lag has returned.
    • 80% of the sets added to Rewards for the Worthy are useless in PvP. Nobody actually uses them except for maybe 3 or 4 sets. (out of 17 total)
    • It's nice to see the Battleground weekend events but they don't actually improve Battlegrounds. In fact, they have a negative effect on player experience by forcing players into a game mode they don't like for 3 to 4 days at a time.
    • Battleground Leaderboards have been broken since June 2022
    • The root and snare meta at the end of 2022 with the Ice Warden changes is absolutely awful. Having to cast a skill for immunity every 4 seconds isn't fun and neither is being forced into Snow Treaders.
    • Removing Deathmatch queue killed off much of the competitive BG community and U35 was the nail in the coffin.

I don't play PvP, so I don't have an opinion. However, if it's really as bad as people make it out to be, I honestly don't even know why it's still a feature in the game. Cut it loose and free up resources for the primary game. Pretty much guaranteed to bring in more Elder Scrolls fans at least.

It seems like ZOS doesn't even try to balance anything in PvP anymore.

Frost wardens are insanely OP now with being nearly unkillable AND able to do some of the highest DPS of any build all at the same time.

And why are we forbidden to discuss PvP or Cyrodiil in ZOS live streams? What's up with that?

And they gutted Templars, even though they were already at or very near the bottom of PvP performance capabilities with U35. ZOS seems totally at a loss when it comes to what's happening in PvP.

It's called an opinion, nothing more or less. The chances of ZoS taking a single persons opinion into consideration are non-existent, so don't get your knickers in a twist. One persons opinion is no less valid than someone else's, they just happen to be different.

I’ve spent my time pvping in WoW, FFXIV, Elden Ring, and Dark Souls this year. It’s quite clear that the leadership at ZOS does not care about the state of PVP. Even FFXIV’s PVP is better than ESO’s in 2022…and that’s saying something because it is not exactly great. But it is at least worth my time because it’s rewarding and you can see that the FFXIV devs are trying to improve their PVP system.

They cancelled 2022's Imperial City event in order to squeeze in that "bonus EXP event" they awarded for community completion of the pathfinder achievement.

I quit using beetles because frankly, it's embarrassing. Literally no one (except some immobile troll tanks, people timed out and crashing from lag, and AFKers) will be standing in the same place nine seconds after you cast a spell. And when they see the second wave proc 50 feet away from their current location, they laugh because you are the only one dumb enough to still be using that skill.

Yet another constant reminder of the negative effects of Update 35.

    ○No new content
○No update to the reward system
○Questionable balancing choices (Though the entire ESO community was affected by these)
○Cancelling the IC event was very disheartening for the community.

    BGs
○More evidence that modes need reworking
    ○Inequitable RNG for modes
○The BGs weekends are a welcome addition, and a step in the right direction, but needs some tweaking. MORE AP PLZ

    Cyro
    ○ Better performance for PCNA only. (Still lag, bugs, skill delay persists during peak hours)
●There was a resurgence of the population for awhile, which was nice to see.
○Healing, and mitigation still not addressed.
○Continued introduction of op gear, followed by hammering nerfs.

○All technical stuff aside, a large portion of my rating is attributed to my experience with the people I've met and played with in the PvP community.

I've said it so many times, every couple of months for a fatty price tag there is a massive new house for sale. The environment is awesome and fits the theme of the new dlc/year story. Clockwork, underwater whatever, crypts blah blah blah. Gorgeous locations......

Yet its impossible to turn one into a bg map or create something similar?

They can't developed smaller pvp maps that connect to larger objectives in cyro, but can create map after map for the most mindless pve content? (I like pve too but the amount of feedback speaks for itself)

Low hanging fruit, like allowing the use of keys from IC for chest drops in dungeons (Create incentive for pvpers to pvp for gear instead of grinding out pve) It's subsidizing the pve population with people who want pvp.

They have ZERO interest in pushing pvp.

The only reason I don't rate it any lower is because I found the first 2 patches of the year pretty decent balance-wise. I remember thinking, they just need to iron out what's left unaddressed with the introduction of hybridization and things might actually look quite good. Well, not only is that still unaddressed, but on top of that U35 just junked entire classes and playstyles completely out of the blue. So, yeah.

Otherwise, I play on Ravenwatch EU, so 0/10 on that one. Zero. The same trashy performance, the population's shrunk to the point where it doesn't even poplock at prime time. Best you get is 2/3 bars for a few hours tops nowadays, the rest of the time its a 1 bar ghost town with the same few recognizable faces everywhere you go. But hey, at least we're getting new servers next year, I guess.

I stopped playing BGs too, I just can't be bothered with making and updating proc and no proc builds just to pvp.

Sure, we could have gotten new PVP content but its really not that big of a deal to me to make me feel bad or upset.

I really enjoyed being able to take advantage of prime oakensoul and the combustion passive on the DK.

My ballgroup and I had a ton of fun during both midyears steamrolling the entire PSNA server. Performance was mostly great.

Overall, great year. No, im not being sarcastic.

i dont pvp all the time (i go on like binges of pvp for like 3 weeks and then i wont touch it much for 1-2 months) but my overall experiences in pvp havent really changed at all (in fact i havent even really changed my build at all for like 3 years now lol)

theres plenty they could improve upon

i feel siege is barely useful in cyro sometimes, i dont really enjoy a lot of BGs (especially dont care for deathmatch, and queue basically doesnt work well in teams of 2 or 3)

i do like they added some more siege variety in the form of lancers, but i think it would still be nice to see additional more "magical" options for siege than just "lightning infused ballista" that actually does some debuffs that you know actually matter (dmg with siege i think is OK, but could be better, but some of these siege that are "debuff oriented" are very weak such as lightning ballista and there are no say heal absorption siege)

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

My 7 might be a shock to a few people; especially coming from a 2015 console release, Templar.lmgzsxxnipro.png

    Here are my reasons,

    2 points for Templar changes:
As a Templar main, I can’t express how happy it made me to finally be able to change my main spammable ability, nothing compared to Puncturing Strikes due to Burning Light only working with that ability. The nerf of Puncturing Strikes was a bit heavy handed, but the increased usage of Burning Light was an incredible change. Backlash is still usable on my build, and hits for good numbers; when my attacks aren’t blocked.

1 point for Magicka Nightblade buffs:
This class was next to unplayable prior, I would tone down a few things slightly though, like the Spectral Bow as it is hitting almost 20k on players after being halved by Battle Spirit.

1 point for Magicka Warden buffs:
Although I wouldn’t trap people on an Ice Staff, personally, the changes that they made have resulted in my Nord finally having a reason for Frost Resistance in PvP.

    2 points for Oakensoul:
This tool allowed SO MANY unique builds to finally be playable. I’m of the mindset that more diversity in gameplay is not a bad thing, and Oakensoul, although a bandaid fix to defensive meta, came out at it’s peak and brought counterplay to it, it was originally 3 points, but lost a point when the mythic got excessively nerfed.

    1 point for 2022 sets:
New set introductions like Mara’s Balm and Rallying Cry, and the nerf of Ironblood.

Playing this defensive meta we are currently in, there is a serious healing problem that needs to be addressed, I probably could have given PvP a lower score. Cyrodiil is a performance mess on Xbox, but Dueling and Battlegrounds, my main sources of PvP, have performed well enough.

I would have given a 0/10 score were it not for the server upgrades for the PC NA realm, which itself was a huge undertaking.

I have regularly played in Cyrodiil during prime time hours on both PC EU and PC NA servers. The NA server’s performance is leaps and bounds better than on the EU server. It’s not perfect by any means but it is considerably better. That’s no small accomplishment in making that change and ZOS deserves credit and thanks for doing so.

However, every other aspect of PVP was a complete disaster this year from a lack of content updates to poor communication as to why there were no updates to horrific combat and skill changes to old bugs that go unfixed (stuck in combat) to new bugs that go unfixed (blocking). Worst of all, though, is the sense that nobody at ZOS gives a darn about PVP and no one at the company is willing to be a vocal and public advocate for players. ESO PVP is a rudderless ship without a captain that is lost at sea leaving everyone on board to deal with the whims of the fates. It’s shameful. It would be better for ZOS to euthanize ESO PVP than to let it linger in its current state of neglect and disrepair.

I have never understood why those who do not play a certain style of play keep weighing in on that style of play.

If you don't play PVP, you will not understand why PVP is a valid style of play that lends exciting, unpredictable gameplay to your ESO experience. It extends the life of the game.

This game would be improved immensely if some care were given to this side of things. It was awesome to see everyone's excitement when the lag issues in Cyro just disappeared. The infrastructure though couldn't handle the influx of returning players, which dampened the experience. But things were buzzing when that server upgrade happened and things *worked* again.

I'd love to see that again for PVPers. I feel the game would be healthier overall.

Gave it a 2/10. This year was the first I actively removed myself from pvp for a very long period of time because I couldn’t stand how unplayable it was majority of the time, how boring it was at other times when nothing was happening at all, and because I can’t stand the community in-game around it 90% of the time nowadays.

Even with all of those experiences, I still found time to actually enjoy pvp as well. My experience with pvp is always hot and cold, though this year was more negative than anything else. Friends make it more bearable but even then we get frustrated with performance.

Having to cast an ability 7+ times for it to work once, and all the while losing health? I don't even bother with any type of super competitive pvp anymore. Glad I got to enjoy that a long time ago since it seems impossible nowadays. With nothing new added to pvp except new sets to collect.. meh.

I've spent 7 years on xbox and created a pc account recently, and I actually have no desire at all to grind myself up and bother with pvp on pc. It's my favorite part of the game and I don't even enjoy it much anymore. Very sad.

Im on a High End Pc and a High End internet. Im rlly near of the EU Server, cause im from Swiss.
And my skills mostly works every 6 seconds, if it works^^ Thats rlly crazy for a game in 2022...

I mean for real, we wait since Zos dit the NO CP NO PROC Campain for a actual List which sets working and which not. Theres is no Statement since 2 Years now? Why we dont have something into the Game tell us which Sets are working for No Proc Campain.

At this Point you see how much Zos do for PVP Player.

And if i say only my opinion in forum, i think Zos more wanna have Money than do a good Job, i get banned for "Bashing".

    Its crazy...
