[PC-keyboard vs gamepad] Which interface do you prefer?
I'm familiar with FPS shooter action game like the "Call of Duty".
So, mouse aiming is better than gamepad for me.

But some people prefer gamepad than keyboard. If you are gamepad
player, then explain here why gamepad is better than keyboard.

My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]
with [1Stam Blade].
But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

I'm KB+M, and my girlfriend is gamepad.
But she is constantly having issues with certain things, and often has to switch to KB+M in order to do something.
    She still prefers it, though.
I wouldn't touch it with a ten-meter joystick. You'll pry my keyboard and mouse from my cold, dead hands.

Started ESO on PS4 so was already used to the gamepad interface, tried to play with mouse and keyboard but quickly became annoyed when I couldn't play at the same level as I was accustomed to. Also having shoulder joint issues means sitting back holding a controller is way more comfortable than leaning forward over a desk for extended periods of time.

Keyboard and mouse all the way. my partner is a console player (of other games) and when he hand over the gamepad for something urgent, I struggle with it.

I've played many games with a controller, and prefer it for some. But I played ESO for around an hour at PAX (a few years ago), and I hated the gamepad UI so much that I swore if I had to use it I would uninstall and never play the game again. It's also a core reason I could never enjoy Skyrim.

Skyrim on the PC with kb & mouse is great. Not convinced it is not a better game than ESO if you like to play solo.

KB/Mouse for me. Never could be bothered to figure out the odd combos you need for a gamepad (gave my PS/4 away because of that).

I usually go with the gamepad UI. It's a bit larger, more like Skyrim gamepad UI, and more simplistic. Seems there's easier button bindings and whatnot with the gamepad too. The only time I really need to use keyboard UI is when I'm listing things to sell or linking multiple things in chat.

I prefer playing ESO with a keyboard and mouse, but that might just be because it's what I'm used to and I've only briefly tried using a controller in this game.

I use both regularly for different games and usually don't think about which I'd prefer, I just use whichever is the default for the platform. Sometimes I'm buying a game which is available on PC and on console and then I have to decide which version to get, but even then other things are usually more important to me than playing it with a keyboard and mouse or a controller. The only game where I deliberately and permanently switched was Valheim, and that's because using a controller lets me move the camera independantly of my character so I can look around more while walking, look behind me while mining etc. and monsters don't sneak up on me as easily.

Ive done physical jobs all my life so eventually i had to move to console and a controller out of pure discomfort from the nerve pain i would get in my arched knuckles when using a mouse and keyboard. Im back on pc once again but still using controller, just used to it muscle memory and all that. Would be nice if more addons could be used with the controller ui, otherwise not fussed.

I use KBM, because the interface for gamepad is subjectively pretty awful, and there's a lot of shortcut keys missing from gamepad mode that are single-key presses with KBM. The only games I use my gamepad for are racing/flight games, and console-to-PC games originally designed specifically for gamepads - like Elden Ring.

I just prefer to sit on the couch because it's more comfortable. With my first MMO I used keyboard and mouse for years and there are still a few situations in specific games where I'll briefly switch back, and some games I enjoy that don't have controller support, but mostly I'm a gamepad player. I can put my feet up, my back doesn't get sore, and if I want a drink and a snack there's no issue about crumbs or a spill on the keyboard due to some in-game surprise.

I use something like this, with a 12 button mouse. I'd like to use a controller for comfort as my mouse hand is getting fatigued; but its really hard to give up so many buttons in reach.

Gamepad. The only advantage KbnM had for me was turn speed, then I learned how to tweak the controller turn speed, that was it, havent ever looked back, you simply have much more range of motion and control with a gamepad. In pin point accuracy games like CoD , kbnM clearly has an advantage, but here? Nope.

Gamepad for combat. Keyboard mode for administrative tasks and fixing many of the accessibility issues in gamepad mode:

-Cannot see the contents of a guild bank unless you have withdrawal permissions in gamepad mode.

-Cannot take a treasure map you have in your bank (but don't have on your character) in gamepad mode.

-Cannot see accurate bar measurements of Cyrodiil populations in gamepad mode.

-Cannot see critical information like certain tooltips in gamepad mode (e.g. the fact that companions need 5 pieces of a single type of armor to level up, even though they only need 3 to unlock that skill line)

-Cannot see specific point values towards skill lines and Cyrodiil campaign reward tiers in gamepad mode.

-Cannot link achievements in chat as easily (at all?) anymore in gamepad mode.

-Cannot consume food/drink in inventory in combat in gamepad mode. It must have been quickslotted before combat to be used in combat. In keyboard mode things can be consumed in combat in the inventory screen.

      I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Mainly because I am not accustomed to the controller and that is nobody's fault but my own. I have an xbox controller for my pc and I have not taken the time to become accustomed to it.

Because I (used to) play in Cyrodiil mostly I wear out my keyboard's keys at a good pace and the Movement keys have flown off the keyboard, and I really do mean they have flown off the keyboard. I change out the keys with other letters; I have burned through the replacement keys. I'm on my 6th mouse.

Mouse and keyboard is objectively a better interface for end game combat. A mouse is better than a thumbstick for aiming a cursor and a gamepad simply doesn't have enough buttons to do all the commands you might want, especially in a more complicated MMO. I know this is not a shooter, but in that environment, a mouse/keyboard vs a gamepad isn't even close to a fair fight. Take any shooter available on both console and PC and the TTK is so much faster on PC, its not even close.

That said, I do get the appeal of a gamepad for more casual activities. Gaming in a recliner has its place. I have used one for things like fishing, skyshard and lorebook hunting on alts, etc, but I would NEVER use one for end game.

I used to play shooters at a very high level with a gamepad (Halo 1 on OG xbox, tournaments, etc). I moved to a PC for gaming in 2003 when I started playing Counter Strike almost exclusively as a shooter. There was definitely a learning curve, but there is no chance I am ever going back to a gamepad for most things. Every now and then a game will come out that just seems better on a gamepad. Usually its 3rd person games with a lot of platforming. Last example I have was Star Wars Fallen order. It even recommends PC users use a game pad, so that's how I played it. Otherwise, mouse and keyboard is life.

I actually use a 12 button MMO mouse in my right hand and a mini keypad in my left.

I used to have that one, but now I have the Razer version. I use the top button for bar swap, and the bottom button for jump as its basically where the space bar normally is. I really like bar swap on my left thumb, its also where I typically bind weapon cycling in shooters. In ESO, I can do my entire DPS rotation with only 3 fingers. Right index is LA weave, Right thumb is all skills/ quickslots, Left thumb is bar swap. I of course need more fingers to actually play the game, but I can parse with just 3.

Not sure why I can't pick both honestly. I play with a gamepad for all combat and exploration, but I do all my trading/shopping/banking/guild duties with keyboard because it's easier. Even if I have to send a mail, it's back to keyboard mode. I can't give up gamepad for harvesting, combat, or basically anything else though!
