Rework Templar Jabs?

We need a rework on the animation and skill of the Templar Jabs.
It's very bad and i know the devs can see how many people use the skill on their trackers..

    Agreed! I can't even play my templar anymore because the class identity has been ruined with the "updated" jabs animation. :(

    Please ZOS, fix jabs. It's current state is an abomination, you guys are capable of better!

    This badly needs to happen.

    Jabs is in the Aedric Spear Skill line, and the premise of the skill line is a magical spear the templars use to fight evil. Jabs, Javelin, Charge, and spear shards prior to U35 all used the SAME spear animation appearance to create the feel the skill line seeks to create.

    Now with Jabs using a Vampire staff (see the evil a templar fights) as their jabs, it makes absolutely no sense.

    Across the class skill lines, there is a synergy of animations that give the character its feel. Jabs is broken stats wise sure, but its even more broken lore wise.

    This needs to be fixed.

    I like the new jab animation. Took about three days to get used to it. Took about a week to not notice it at all while solo and when doing trials I can see it going off when the group is stacked.

    Having come back after a break ... I didn't even notice they had changed it until I realised my weaving was significantly improved. \o/

    Agreed it looks really bad. Never cared anything about weaving and quite honestly also never over-relied on it.

    Was just a really useful and reliable skill that looked cool. Wish they'd also roll back Flurry, we don't need a light attack animation when we already have one when we are... light-attacking :)

    It really feels like Flurry and Jabs changes were done for the wrong reasons.

    Pretty much this. While I am not a huge fan of the new jabs looks; I am more concerned with POTL/PL damage loss, and burning light massive reduction.

    Don't care for the nerfs or animation and the new jabs did NOT change my ability to weave at all - I weaved just fine before and after the changes. What is needed is not a rework but an 'unwork' of the changes - simply undo the U35 jabs changes.

    I hope people keep bringing this issue up every couple weeks until it the issue is dealt with. They really need to revert the jabs animation. They can leave the timing the same, but the animation needs to go back to what it was pre U35.

    I am not really bothered by the new jabs animation....
    The change was recent...I will live

    If it is changed, don't go back the way it was...change it something people like?

    Can we have a Templar runway show of Jabs for 2023?

    I can't stand new jabs either. We went from shushushushu to pokepokebonk and it's just terrible. Why is the spear model a Nighthollow staff? What is that awful swing at the end of the animation? Am I trying to use a spear as a bludgeoning weapon? It is objectively significantly worse than stabbing a sharp shard of solid light into the enemy.

    Leave the nerf if you must but for the love of Talos please give us back the old animation. Just abridge it by removing one of the jabs or something.
    PC NA, CP2200+. Character creation is the true endgame.

    GL. Anything Templar related is a losing battle with ZOS. Been gone since 2019. Came back when I saw they put Brutality on jabs (after 3 years of asking). Read lost depths natch potes to see literally EVERY damage skill in Templar trees "nerf 25%, or more). Lolololol. Its like they hired Forrest Gump and wonder what went wrong.

    Also, Cyrodiil performance still is a joke, at best.

    Templar isn't even in a "spot" anymore...May as well just Uninstall class from the game. Sad because Templar is my main since 2015.

    Between the awful visuals, the double nerf to jabs, the double nerf to burning light, and the massive nerf to backlash...templar is doing pretty freaking bad.
    If update 37 doesn't do something to fix this...idk what to say.

    There can always be a first! The outcry over the jabs animation change has been constant since u35 hit beta. The only way its going to die down is if they address it; one way or another.

    I could live with the animation if in exchange the damage and especially the healing would be buffed at least a bit again. Of course, I would prefer if the animation was adjusted. The shortening to 0.8 seconds on the other hand was a good thing.

    But the model for the spear is absolutely pathetic. This solution is cheap and completely inappropriate, since the model is a vampire staff.
    It's a shame that their customers aren't worth it to them to create a new model for the spear. :/

    I like the new movement, I highly dislike that the graphic for the spear was replaced with a VAMPIRE spear motif. Replacing with a motif is already a bit iffy, but choosing one that goes directly against the class identity is just awful.

    I haven't really noticed the Jabs animation change until I really paid attention to it. Doesn't bother me at all.
    Mained stamplar since day 1 2015. Gripes about class changes over the years have been regular and disappointing.
    Brutality was a great change, but they gutted every offensive skill in Templar trees.

    My suggestion (which won't happen because ZOS hates templars) make jabs an exception to evasion. No need to buff tooltip, just don't double dip a class spammable into an easily accessible from every class skill, and out of class skill trees to a 25% reduction off the bat.
    Rework POTL/PL to work as a DoT with an option to burst on BL proc (similar to assassins will). Stam morph gives +5% damage against target affected with POTL. Mag gives +35% of damage done as healing back against target affected.

    It’s funny, somebody had to consciously make a decision to use a vampire unholy magic staff motif as a holy piercing weapon. And I would assume management approved it as well. And then add a sideways swinging/digging motion to a staff turned poking thing.

    It would be most interesting to hear the timeline of idea to live server implementation from the devs. How it all came to be.

    Well, nobody would logically grab a spear near the tip and have to fight all that dead weight swinging in the back. And nobody would grab the original staff near the top, either.

    I’m curious why they picked something that looks like a camping shovel on a pole, rather than a piercing weapon, like the original animation. And why does the original Nighthollow staff look like a shovel? Perhaps the vampires used it to dig up the dead when not using it as a magical weapon?

    The original jabs was really a like a Lance and was never intended to be a Spear.

    I had posted this before but European Knights, (Europe being where the Templar Order originated from) sometimes used Lances on the charge. Now there were different forms of the Medieval Knight across the world, however the European Knight never used Spears. Spears (or Halberds) if anything, were the weapon of choice by line infantry, in Medieval Times known as Pikeman (or Swiss Mercenaries) to counter a Knight charge.

    So all of this talk about Knights using Spears is simply incorrect, as well as ZOS substituting what formerly represented an Aetheric Lance, with what looks like a Spear or possibly a Trident from some ambiguous fairy tale.

    Herego, when Templar gap closed he's using his Lance. When he throws, he's throwing his Lance and when using Jabs he rocking out with his Lance :) Now in history, the Lance was not thrown like a Javelin nor was it used in a manner the same as Jabs because of its weight. However, that was what made the Templar cool because he's throwing an Aetheric Lance and kicking some tail with his Lance -not a spear-. It was an Aetheric Lance.

    And they replaced that with uhhh a Vampire Magical Staff. Let that sink in. It could be they need more time to work on this and intend on replacing this current jabs animation with something appropriate later on, which I sincerely hope they do. Because they way it is now, the animation change doesn't seem to work clean and crisp as before [snip]

    I'm not them, I can't speak for the Devs on this but its a bad look. And I very respectfully hope this is brought to the attention of the Devs and this can be cleaned up along with Flurry. Because they look awful.

    Everything after this is all well in good but it is in the "Aedric Spear" line and has always said something about striking with your Aedric Spear or just spear in the tooltips for maybe everything in that line.

    Either way, whatever they call it; I'd be happier if it all looked like the Javelin that gets thrown. Was the coolest-looking part of Templar at launch to hurl that at someone and slam them to the ground. Used to instantly knock players off horses as well.
