Event Fatigue

I am gonna spend 300k on buying 1 event ticket to buy the fragment.
and what ever the hat and jerkins come up in the guild stores.

For me its not event fatigue but I have not explored those zones yet.

But honestly not having to worry about the Pink power ranger suit for 3 events, as I skipped it was quite relieving.

haha, that's funny. I couldn't understand why they thought that red/pink was a good default color but oh well, I collected the tickets but did not get the outfit, but I'm down for that hour glass!

Also weird take to just not play the game at all until an event ends, as most of the world is not impacted by the event and you can easily ignore it to do whatever you planned on doing after the event ends. If you need a break from the game, fine...but strange to correlate this to the event.

I never indicated that I need a break from the game and I'm certainly not going to stop playing for the weeks this event is active.

The problem is that there have been almost nonstop events on top of the release of a new DLC. This can be overwhelming and tiring.

On the other paw, drop rate for Saarthal Scholars outfit is pretty good. Received the shoes from a gold box, found a purple box from a node and that contained the shoulder!

Edit: corrected the types dropped. They are shoes and shoulders, no sash/belt.

Congratulations on your lucky RNG! I have gotten zero Saarthal Scholars from over 20 boxes so far this event. I did get two of the same pages from the Sovngarde Stalwart, which I don't need.

Complaining about one of the great things about ESO, whyyyyyy? I swear it doesnt matter what it is someone is going to find some [snip] reason to complain it.

Events are by far one of the best aspects of ESO. It brings people out into the world, things are truly alive during those times.

So onto the OP, dont participate, its that easy. Your missing out on absolutely nothing but fun. [snip]

If ive had a little too much of the events I just take it easy and by the time the next one rolls around im usually amped up and ready to go. Why anyone would allow "event fatigue" to even set in is beyond me, it so easily avoidable. Its not like ESO is your job. Cheers!

Complaining about one of the great things about ESO...

I'm not complaining about events. I'm complaining about the timing of them.

To many events too close together makes them way less special and makes some of us less likely to care about them or want to participate in them.

I could understand the FOMO if the rewards were really good but since its all basic stuff I really dont understand what anyone would fear missing out on.

The events being close together goes to my point of them bringing people out into the world together more often, making the world we play in feel much more alive.

Its a way to keep player retention in order to keep the game healthy and that is something we all want. That we can all agree on im sure😁

Actually it brings large groups of players to the same few locations standing around waiting for bosses to spawn, etc. This leaves the rest of the world less populated making it feel less alive. This is one reason they should be spread out more instead of one right after another.

We all are responsible for our own decisions in what we want to participate in. The company goes to great lengths to give us a wide variety of things to do. No one is 'required' to participate in absolutely everything. Burnout should not happen, Unless Every event is something the player Wants to participate in.

No one is judging anyone else. And no one even knows or cares how much or how little anyone else is participating in events. It's all just personal choice and private.

Do what is fun for you and don't worry about anything else. And don't worry about missing out on something. Everything in this game keeps coming back around throughout the year. You just have to wait for it. Example - the cool DroMathra Senche mount and cub pet just came back. It's my favorite combo. Events are the same. They keep coming back around like clockwork. So, if you decide Not to participate during one, there is always the following year.

Try just playing the game for the Fun of it.

Not to mention it was poorly timed considering we just had Firesong launch on console two days ago.

Almost every dlc release with the exception of the chapter updates coincide with an event these days.

It's not like OP is requesting for events to be completely removed from the game. Part of the reason why these events felt special in the past is because you anticipated them.

Exactly! I used to look forward to them and they felt like a real event. I'd like it to be like that again.

The one redeeming factor about modern events is that they are sticking to the 13-14 day timeline. Remember when anniversary event was 5 weeks long? Or witches festival ran for like 20 ish days?

I do wish that they would spread out the exp events more. We have 1 in October, 1 in December, and then 1 late March and 1 early April. Be nice to have one in like June or July.

I do one or two days of an event then move on to other activities. The rare motifs don't drop enough to make it worth while and composting the common motifs that drop like leaves in the Fall is not all that much fun

The upside of this is that Sammy is replaying the Greymoor and Reach main quests.

This one was wrong to criticise Greymoor. It is actually quite enjoyable, even more so than this year’s offering. The villain was convincing, the Ravenwatch family is reliably appealing and the music and atmosphere are very engrossing. It was released in 2020, and Sammy was probably judging the game unfairly (because of fed up with diseases and gloom) due to the first year of the pandemic when things were so uncertain and depressing.

    So there’s the silver lining, @SilverBride 😸

I'm using the event as an excuse to finish every harrowstorm and WB in Western Skyrim and The Reach, as well as try to find anything for the sticker book in those areas (Venomous Smite being a personal fave of mine). It's pretty easy now since I can just camp an area and follow the crowd. Thanks to the large groups, harrowstorms only take a minute and WB barely last 30 seconds. And once I do the dailies in those areas, I'm out.

I think I can understand where event fatigue can come in. Any repetitious activity has a chance of turning monotonous, so it helps to break routine sometimes. For me, I'm not interested in the hourglass, and the Saarthal outfit is meh imo so I'm hoarding my tickets now.

when Firesong was released on tuesday (xbox NA), it was horrible to do the zonequest.
Players everywhere, killing the ambience, most enemies already dead.

After the event started, I did the quest again, this time on EU. Fantastic. Almost all enemies still alive, I even played some parts "slow", although I had planned to rush through, as I know the quests already from NA.

The event is finished in 10 minutes for me, pick up harrowstorm quests in Solitude and Markarth, finish a HS in the Reach in some seconds (dozends of players), turn this quest in at both questgivers. So I have my tickets.
I don't need the rewards, and if I would, I would buy them in guildstores, motifs are down to 5k already after 1-2 days.

But I share the opinion, that the zone-events are too "massive". I would prefer a "zone of the week", every week another one. No eventtickets, no special motifs like Saarthal, but double drops of all standard stuff.
This would help to "revive" some zones again, I would use such opportunities to farm furnishing mats and maybe motifs/blueprints, as Worldbosses now would be easier and quicker to finish.

I have started ignoring the reward box aspects of those events, and just farm the sticker book out of the associated instances (when there are any). There are far too many style motifs available already for me to care about whatever outfit style each event awards.

I have event fatigue from too many events too close together. It leaves little time for me to do my "normal" routines such as questing etc.. I've started just skipping a lot of the activities associated with these events but I wish they were spread out more.

Completely agree. It's been non-stop. I have a feeling it will continue to be so. I already tried to avoid events before they turned into spam.

ESO is not going to spread out their events because a fraction of their playerbase is feeling burned out right now. If they were, they'd already be spread out, because I've been seeing threads like this for years. In contrast, ZOS has settled into a pretty regular schedule of roughly 12 ticketed events per year , with the largest break usually happening after the April Anniversary (Coincidentally in time for the Chapter release). This time period right now is one of the busiest, with a slew of repeated big events leading up to the Anniversary like Witches Festival, New Life Festival, Whitestrake's Mayhem, and the Jester's Festival.

If you're burned out now, good luck! The players who are looking forward to those repeated events will enjoy them just fine.

Personally, I think events fall into the category of alternate activities and supporting systems that Rich Lambert talks about in this interview where he discusses the ways in which the Devs try to provide additional content for the various parts of the playerbase so players stay engaged once they've polished off the 30-40 hours of quest content in a Chapter: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/building-an-mmo-for-solo-players-in-the-elder-scrolls-online-1

    An excerpt:
"The balance the team needs to strike is making sure ESO offers something for everyone, whether it's a solo Elder Scrolls fan looking for an alternative to yet another Skyrim playthrough or a hardened MMO fan diving deeper and deeper into endgame content. Lambert says there is plenty for the former, and for the latter there's everything from bosses that require multiple players to take them down, to four-player dungeons, to 'Trials' and raids that support up to 12 people.

"The hardest part in all of that is trying to figure out the roadmap of things," he adds. "It's a persistent world so players are always in there; what other alternate activities that they're doing? The story only takes you so far. We launch a chapter that has 30 to 40 hours of content in it and hardcore players will polish that off in a week and they're like 'Give us more'. We can't build content fast enough. We have to have all those supporting systems on top."

There are always new players coming in who are going to be excited and engaged in events.

There are always experienced players looking for something to do when they log in, see alternate activities above.

There are always players who buy content when it goes on sale for the content-focused events. Events are a potent Marketing tool.

There are always players who look forward to particular events, whether its the rewards, or the gameplay, or the fact that having more events in a quarter means they can afford to skip ones they don't care for. (A side note: PVE-only players really benefit from having more events in the same quarter as the Whitestrake's Mayhem events, while PVP players only have two PVP-centric ticket events this year.)

And yes, there are always players who've grown tired of events for many and various reasons, and cut back on their engagement.

I burned out on events and tickets a long, long time ago. But I have only one wallet. ZOS is concerned about entertaining many, many more players (and their wallets) than I.

Spreading out events can easily net them more money and more players than making clustering them. Many companies spread their events out more without issue. [snip]

There will most likely continue to be threads like this in the future. Events could be more anticipated if they were spread out more evenly throughout the year rather than in clumps with long dry periods between the clumps. This could make them feel more like an event and be more enjoyable for many.

I agree with OP.Personally I would prefer an event every second month instead of almost each month.
Fragments for morphs would need to be on the Impresario each event instead of quarterly divided.

Event fatigue is something i feel for some time now, even when I limit myself to do the very basic fastest way to get tickets till I get full 12 again after buying a morph fragment.

I'm in two minds about this.

On one hand the events are necessary because without them nobody visits those zones. Nobody really looks forward to doing a harrowstorm...

On the other, I found it a distraction because, and I admit this is down to me, I don't rush into a new DLC. I will not be the first into a DLC because it's too crowded. So when this new event started (another, just finished witches) I hadn't finished Galen, so it was a bit of a distraction.

Unfortunately all of the recent DLC are so devoid of interest that once you've finished the quests there's very little to bring you back - hence the "events". Without them these zones would be empty.
