I don't mind them ackowledging their mistake, but this giving us a free pet literally felt like a slap in the face.

I'd say that a mount-worth amount of crowns would be a more appropriate compensation. But I don't care much about freebies for flops.

What made me really sad is that I didn't believe a single word of "we'll do better". I doubted those apologies before, now I straight up don't believe.

And that single piece of appropriate communication doesn't fix how poor it usually is.

I believe that devs want to do better, and that they care about their game. But they lack something necessary to be able to uphold their promises as evidenced by cutting down costs (year-long season) and quality still steadily dropping.

They would’ve been better off just saying sorry. A guar pet just signals the disconnect they have from their base.

I appreciate the acknowledge of the screwed launch but the pet is uhh...worthless for most people. I rather have a Crown Repair Kit, I only use like 3 pets max anyways.

Now‘s the time. Until U36 you could have blocked that…

And on a more serious note: Simply adding 1 week of ESO+ play time to all subscribers and something for the non-subscribers would not have made it better. But I’d think that would have reduced the backlash ZOS would receive for that pet guar which indeed feels like a slap in the face.

    But I hope that won’t be called a knee-jerk reaction again…

It's a nice gesture and the apology/communication is definitely appreciated, although I'd prefer smooth launches and not breaking more things with each update, which then accumulate over time. A lot of people have asked for having an update of pure fixes, without new content, and yes, I realize this is really difficult given the different teams that work on content which has been planned ages ago, but if they managed to somehow prioritize fixing the code/the longstanding bugs/the design mistakes on a lot of items, over other things in one update cycle, it would make the majority of the playerbase very happy.

Unpopular opinion: Most freebies and rewards are intended for the newer players who don't have much yet, not older players who already have (or can easily get) a lot of stuff.

I've seen a lot of players running around with the free dog that dropped from the last event-- the one with the ribs painted on its coat with soot or dust or whatever. That might simply be because they like it, but when I see a lot of players running around with a mount or pet that came from a recent event then I wonder how many of them are new players who don't have a lot of mounts and pets yet.

Old players (or, if you prefer, "veterans") who already have a lot of collectibles can become pretty jaded about freebies and rewards, whereas new players who don't have much of anything yet can think it's the coolest thing. "Look, I got a dog!" (Or guar, or indrik mount, etc.) "It's so awesome!"

It seems for the most part, players are insulted and don't seem to find much use for the guar and it doesn't make the game more fun when it is still very broken with block bugs etc. I'm glad there are a few who like it though, it's good to find positivity when we can.

Maybe, but compensating the newcomers over your loyal playerbase may not be the best strategy. Then again, new players may throw in the towel quicker than people who have lots of time and money invested.... If u35 didn't make them leave, nothing will!

Instead of this "compensation" silliness, they should make the giveaways commemorative.

Like... it should be a pet Block (a cube of stone, reskin of the pet rock). :D
That way you'll always remember what it was for, and have a conversation piece. Rather than "Pet Whatever, Color 13".

    Fantastic!

And then we could build columns out of them, like the Romans, but instead of describing sensational victories over barbarians, detailing every debacle you'd lived through!

    Probably need a bigger house...

Indeed, you could fill your 'Garden of Disappointments' ** with the conversation pieces.

Fortunately I love guar and will delight in the little addition to my herd. My wealth grows with each addition. :)

And these are most likely the players who never use block in overland content, and have no idea what's even going on, or why they are getting a free pet.

Do you know where ZOS can stick that Guar?
Back on the this appeals to a small amount of players who mostly do not pvp shelf, that's where.

This is actually a solid point. The folks most affected by this were pvp, most serious pvpers don't seem to care much about nc pets and pve vet players who are just whomped by the block bug. Again don't know many who were super pumped about nc pets. The folks who will be happy about this are, yet again, the least affected.

I am more happy with the way it is written, than with the free pet. It takes a lot of courage to admit that something went wrong. Especially on the internet. #respect.

I agree but they need to look at quarter 4 because the reach you bosses resetting. Didn't murkmire have problems too?

If they were going to go with a pet as compensation couldn't they have at least provided a gift code so we could pick our own pet?

I don't like guars except for the bantam guars, which are really more a naked chicken than a guar...

    (Chickens are my favorite pet...)

This one can understand why some players are frustrated with the short announcement from Lambert, and why the pet seems superficial. Sammy has been doing his part with the accountability on update 35 etc.

At the same time, a gesture of good will should be acknowledged as such.

How they move forward with response to update 35 and other issues will be the test.

When they are working on the foundational code, I'm bracing myself for more errors. PC will get the worst of it, unfortunately.

HA on lightning staffs are buged - they do not start.

So they are now nerfed and buged in PVP and PVE )

The same time tank builds can not block )))

And on LA with new timers and U35 game play just feels bad )

    Nice ... .

How does this block bug happen? I remember getting it years ago but I've been playing PvP and I didn't notice it once.
