Free Pet!!! Can it block?

I saw that ZOS is apologising for the catastrophic release of U36 and giving us another free guar pet!

Since we haven't gotten a fix for the block bug yet, and they haven't given us an update on a possible fix, can we assume the free pet will block for us?

You must have it between you and the target for it to block for you. Players skilled enough at playing the game will find it very effective and helpful.

If it is not blocking for a player then I suppose they need to GiTgUd.

Pet smett, how many of those fixes from the incremental patch are going to be in the Console patch or does console have a 2 week+ wait for those bug fixes?

Yep, me too!

I was hoping on more info about bug fixes that are keeping many people from enjoying the game, like the block bug, but then I saw the news about the free pet and I couldn't have been more joyful.

Well it is a nice gesture.

I just hope that for the next ones ZOS considers that not all players are into pets.

A race change token or at least a name change token would be greatly appreciated!

They actually have been updating us on the blocking bug and, per Gina's comment in another thread, it is fixed internally just not quite in time for Monday.

Block is not fixed yet on PC. So, I expect the 4 console servers will have a 2 week + wait after it is fixed on PC.

You know, I may not use the pet, I have a LOT of them, already... but I really do appreciate the apology, and that they are doing something to acknowledge the playerbase, and our frustration with things.

Wrong. That was after my post. Until then, we hadn't heard from them on the block bug since Nov 3.

The way I see it, they could have either apologized or remained silent. In the former case, they could have just said sorry, or added a little gift to the apology. I won't complain about another guar for my collection - it's certainly better than nothing. Niceties aside, though, the most important part of that announcement wasn't the pet, but what Rich said in the first paragraph: "we will do better in the future." In my view, this is what should be the focus of our attention. Doing better in the future is the real gift guar, so let's remember that phrase and bring it up should the promise be unfulfilled.

I think a free crowns bonus for every player would be a far better apology, then we could each decide how to use it. I'm just not interested in getting another pet.

I don't have a problem with getting a free pet. Whether or not any of my characters will run around with it in tow is immaterial to me, since I can place it in one of my houses.

As someone into collecting pets, I appreciate it, but I would have no use for a token of any sort, so it is hard to find something that would please the whole community. I never really expect that the devs/publishers will give out any compensation in any form, so I couldn't complain for whatever thing they might toss our way as an apology gift, though, whether it is a pet or a token. I use the Random Mount addon, which also has an option to randomize your pets, so even if it isn't a main pet, that guar-lizard will pop out occasionally; can be buddies with that pony-lizard pet from the login bonus a bit ago.

I was lucky, though, and didn't have a single issue outside of one rollback, no crashes and the game has been stable and playable, like usual, so I can not speak for those that have had issues that caused the game to be unplayable.

At least they fully acknowledged they screwed up; hopefully this sort of release won't happen again on this scale. Strangely, the NodeDetection bug is not a issue at all on my Steam Deck (I disabled that library on my Win11 desktop but forgot to on my Deck), so it must have been something dealing with Windows, since the Deck uses a Linux branch.

I give @ZOS_RichLambert kudos. He knows what backlash he will face and I applaud him for doing the right thing. Its a nice change and I appreciate that.

The blocking issue, take it away, please! Fix it, please! Otherwise the tank gets followed everywhere they go and stay by angry torch waving mob hurling curses and veiled death threats. Which is sort of funny, as the tank is already pretty dead, bugs and all, but I guess, gotta make sure the tank stays that way, can't have our pure well playing player base get polluted with bad tanks.

Console will likely end up with the block bug too for a couple of weeks, so pet for console also feels fair to me. I doubt we'll get all the crashes but I would guess we are going to get that.

I mean, I'll gladly accept a guar pet I don't have yet. That's another one closer to a completed collection, which I am happy about.

But generally speaking, giving us people yet another non-combat pet that effectively serves no functional purpose and that most people aren't even gonna use for us having to deal with such massive game-breaking bugs this far into the game life on top of having ignored a lot of U35 and U36 feedback is kind of... annoying, to say the absolute least.

At the very least they acknowledged it was their fault, but I feel like that's the bare minimum.

Back on the this appeals to a small amount of players who mostly do not pvp shelf, that's where.
