Guild roster entries- players missing information like location and character name? (revisited)

Hi,

In this thread from 2017, https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/332516/in-guild-roster-why-are-some-players-missing-information-like-location-and-character-name-solved , there's a discussion as to why some players have missing Location, character name etc in a guild's roster. Like this:-

The solution being that they have deleted the character they logged out on and have not logged back in.

However the above players in my guild are always like this and each time I check the roster have been 'online' in the last day or so. While, I guess, its possible they are constantly trying out and then deleting new characters this seems a bit unlikely.

Anyone any thoughts?

Thanks.

The likelihood of having two players delete characters and not log into a different character soon afterwards is probably fairly slim.

One of my guilds has five players that did not show a location. All five had not logged in for a few years. There are other accounts that have been cold longer that show locations so this is not absolute.

Another guild has three members that do not show any information to the right like what you have. Every time I log in it shows they logged out in the last minute. This indicates something is wrong with this record in the database. I would ponder that they have not logged in for a very long period of time.

While this does not answer your question it is likely nothing more than a database error that is more likely to affect an account that has not been active for a long while.

In the end, we can only guess. Zenimax is the source that might be able to provide a definitive answer though it is not important enough for them to worry about.

    Thanks for the reply.

This really looks like a bug, since posting the original, erm - post, I've discovered that these 2 players come 'online' at exactly the time I do. When I check their logon time as soon as I can its always < 1 minute, so yeh, something has broken.

    Will raise a ticket.

This was a bug that happened last year where everyone showed up as having logged in the minute you did. They fixed that so it reflected the most recent time they had logged in, but they couldn’t make it retroactive. The bug seems to have lost whatever data existed before. I would guess that the people you’re seeing never logged in again and so didn’t have new data to reset it.

Thanks for the reply, that'll sort of explain what I am seeing.

If I switch guilds then these players - and there are some in other guilds I am a member of - all magically 'login' so that they were last online <1 minute ago.

I guess the question for Zos is why not have such players given a fixed time and leave it at that? I also need to know if it's just these players with no character info, or if others I am seeing < 1 minute ago are actually active.

    So ticket on its way...

Might be the effect of that cold store they made to push out inactive accounts into, as if those players not logged in for long time they might've been moved to that cold store from the active database.
