In guild roster, why are some players missing information like location and character name? *SOLVED*

I've never found out what this actually means.

Does it mean they are set to offline? Does it mean they are banned? Is it just some glitch?

It is something that happens when a player deletes the character they just logged out on, and they haven't yet logged back into the game. Suggested by @lordrichter and tested by myself:

Not true, as the first one was last online 9 mins ago and only joined the guild 7 days ago.

Maybe they are in the process of zoning or logging in/out and the game hasn't been able to update that info. It probably has a timer of several minutes to fetch that info and display it.

Hmm, perhaps. But there is a couple people who have this and haven't been online in 11 months in the guild. I've noticed that one of these people are also on my friendslist, and it does the same sort of thing, where location is missing, however I do see the other information, including the character name when I mouse over. Very odd, not sure if that's a separate thing.

I was about to say that no can't be it because people offline for a couple days sometimes get this.. BUT

What if you log off to character select and that's where you quit the game from?

Hmmmm, this is all very interesting. And here's some new information I have just seen. Each time I reload ui, it updates the time when they were last online for me...

So it was 9 mins ago earlier, reloadui ui, mouse over: <1 minute. Then I waited another minute and did the same again, and then waited 2 mins, and it did it again, always for those same two people... what does this mean?

And its not to do with being ignored or showing offline, as I just got my bf to do both of these tests with me and I still see the correct information on him within the guild.

I don't think they are in the character screen as when you are there you are considered offline to the game. You aren't in the actual world yet.

I have had this with people who have a slow connection or lag out. They are in the group but no info is displayed until they fully load in. Could be people who crashed while loading or logged out while they were they were being removed from an instance.

My thought is that they deleted the character that they last logged into the game with. Possibly all of their characters. There is nothing to display because the character does not exist anymore.

I've noticed some guildies that tend to do that, just a username with no other info on their roster line. Three all lived close to each other, and a couple of them shared the same internet connection. Maybe it was a coincidence, and it turns out two of them were military. Yeah... a coincidence. I really shouldn't use yarn and thumbtacks for this one...

Not the case. I've seen it both in guildroster and in friendlist for some of my friends who happily logged back on their old toons the next day. I have no idea what's causing this though, always assumed it to be some kind of bug.

I've noticed this issue too. It's annoying because, without accurate measures of "last date played", I cannot tell who in my guild is active and who never plays ESO (aka needs to be removed).

I deleted a character that I was going to remake anyway. For about an hour it still said I was last online with it, then eventually, I think after my boyfriend relogged, it worked!
So there we go, its just when someone was last on a character that they happened to delete, and haven't logged back in since

Being last on a deleted character makes a lot of sense. Looking at my roster, the only one that doesn't have a location is an old friend of mine who hasn't logged in 17 months.

That's possible. From what I remember, if you logged out in a zone that was eliminated (Silver and Gold zones, specifically) by One Tamriel, you'd get some weird blank spots on your guild roster entries until you logged back in the first time. But, I'm honestly not sure what's going on here.

Could also just be characters that have been archived due to inactivity, rather than actually deleted.

Deleted character, created new one with same name? You happened to look at the roster between those two?

I think it happens when someone has themselves set to appear offline.

There is always one person in my guild that is set that way, and if you look at them it will show something like offline >1 sec or whatever variation of time.

It is not when you Set yourself offline as I do that quite often and my name shows up normally in the guild roster

Ah I see! But this bug is not to do with the group tool or lag. This is specifically when guild members or friends show up within the guild menu or friend menu, looking exactly like the screenshots I posted. When that specific information is missing (the character name on mouse over, the alliance, level/CP, location and class), then it means that character has been deleted, and they have yet to log in since that to allow the game to give that information on their other character that still exists.

And, what I was pointing out is that there are other circumstances where this glitch popped up. I'd forgotten it could also happen while someone was logged in. That came up in an earlier thread.

I'm pretty sure there must be other circumstances besides the character deletion.
I have one guild member who has been in my guild for 3 years (and active) who ALWAYS shows up empty after logging off.

I have to ask them, but i doubt they have been deleting characters on a daily basis for years ...
