I think for me RPing with others who aren't/don't is the same as "real life" where not everyone present is involved in my story.

I also think that if ZoS was a little more responsive to reports of harassment (which per the TOS really does include mucking with an RP event/activity) things would go a little more smoothly. That is the problematic issue I see and it's not about zones or instances.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I think an RP instance would be great. But If resources are limited on what can be fixed/added to the game id rather they not spend resources on this. Instead a simple solution, which many mmorpgs have used, is to allow for a RP tag to be added for players wishing to engage in that type of gameplay. Something to make it easily identifiable for everyone.

I know in other games when I would see players tagged for RP I would engage with them for short periods and it was alwayyyyys an enjoyable experience.

    ❌ NO Separate RP Instance
Not a huge fan of the idea partly because it would make the game feel more empty. Also even though I don't rp myself I think it's fun to find rp groups out there just doing their own thing. It's just kind of nice to see people truly enjoying the game in their own way and I'd probably miss it if it were to vanish.

this happened to me one day in Grahtwood. Was questing on an alt and came across a group. I was so intrigued by it I stayed for a while to read and watch.
Then it kinda struck me, because this is what I do at Renaissance Faire's also. I might not be in character 100 % of the time but I love seeing others that can do it. It makes the day go better for me personally.

WOW  how did i not think of this. This could possibly be better than the whole new RP instance idea. It'd allow you to carry on with normal gameplay and play amongst everyone, but also have quick way to identify someone with interest in roleplaying.

If ZENIMAX is keeping eye on this post, i hope they take look at your comment

I have a really simple solution to this problem!

By default, ZOS should make a “roleplay” and “roleplay say” checkbox in chat settings.

This way you can filter out zone chat and can still be immersive and sharing the same server/instance

This is not bad idea, but im not sure if it alone helps with identifying who is roleplayer and who is not. You'd basically have to be typing in chat frequently in hopes that some other roleplayer is passing by and watching the same chat

Correct me if i understood your suggestion wrong!

Could be handy. Just an "RP" title you can activate from the Character menu, perhaps. A separate RP chat channel might be nice too, but that might not work out unless it can somehow also combine the Emote channel.

    ✔️ YES Separate RP instance
I fully support a separate RP instance, but also it may be possible to solve this another way.

My idea is the following: it should use not separate instance, but visibility changes for role-players in existing instance. I have to note that this is based on my experience where combat with mobs is almost non-existent during role-play, so it will not work fully for those who want (need) instanced combat with mobs without participating strangers.

So, to activate this mode a player should be in a guild or in a group. Then he (or she, or beast  ) presses a button "I want to be in role-playing environment with group / guild)" (naturally, a group is the current group, a guild should be selected from guilds the player is in). This mode allows this player to see only players (and their mounts, and their pets, and their effects from skills, mementos, emotes, etc.) from the selection (group or guild). Important note: this doesn't make this player invisible to other players (who are not in the selection). As such, this doesn't make zones for other players empty, this doesn't prevent others to notice the role-playing session and whisper to participate, but it does prevent unwanted harrasment from passerbys.
The Three Storm Sharks, episode 8 released on january the 8th.
One mer to rule them all,
    one mer to find them,
One mer to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

    ❌ NO Separate RP Instance
Imo, there should just be an RP chat channel, not too sure about a separate instance

Yes some kind of tag or icon (looking like theatre masques ofc) is what I would prefer as well! That would make it so much easier to identify if players are interested in roleplaying.

IMO the biggest difficulty of ESO RP (same for other games using megaservers) is finding spontaneous RP, since unless you already see people roleplaying there is no way to know if another player is interested.

In many other games spontaneous RP is how roleplayers meet each other, so it'd be super helpful to have an icon you can activate next to your name.

this is not bad idea, but not sure if alone is enough to spark players to interact with eachother

This one very rarely sees any role play. It’d be nice if more features and support are given to it.
