Over about the last 10 day (or about the time update 35 went live on Xbox) I’ve experienced three instances where the game stopped responding to some of my Xbox controller inputs. All inputs via any button press had no effect. The only control inputs to which the game responded where joystick inputs, either left joystick or right joystick. The main Xbox button was still usable, but only to interact with my Xbox UI, not the game.
I’m 95% certain the issue is not on my end. When each instance occurred, I attempted multiple solutions to regain responsiveness from the game.
• I would cycle the power to my controller off and back on – unsuccessful.
• I would remove and reset my battery with a fresh battery to ensure it wasn’t a low power problem – unsuccessful.
• I would switch to an alternate controller - unsuccessful.
As the game would not respond to any button presses, to include bringing up the in-game menu, I wasn’t able to log out of the game to restart it. I had to resort to using my Xbox control button to bring up my Xbox UI. I was then able to disconnect (not log off) from ESO by selecting and starting another game. While in the Xbox UI, or the other game, all Xbox button control presses received the expected response.
Once disconnected from ESO, I could log back into the game, at which point all Xbox controller button presses received the expected response. This happening once I would consider a passing glitch, but it’s happened three times now. So far, it’s only occurred as I was out and about in Tamriel. It has yet to happen in combat, which could have dire consequences.
Have any other Xbox players encountered this problem?
EDIT ADDED:
I posted this before I saw the post on what appears to be the same problem affecting keyboard and game pad inputs (so I assume that to be PC). If that is the case, then this problem is across multiple platforms.
