Game is awesome, and problems can happen. The current maintenance is emergency maintenance to fix what got broken in today's patch.

Patching live MMO servers is kind of like performing surgery on an unsedated animal, you never know what might happen or what they might do. That is how I always look at it.

I didn t renew. (my friends either)

High end was and will be just fine, they will find the way to stay at the top. The rest of us ... Well ... Try to be happy with our low dps... Yeah, right !! (maybe someday ZOS will understand this)

    Mara's fix ...Didn t fix anything ... Sooo ...

Not renewing until they fix this mess, so ... Never.

If you aren't happy with the game, don't renew. It isn't a "life's imponderable mystery" type of thing.

Just remember all your mats will be pulled from your craft bag first, you won't be able to bank anything except gold if you're over the regular non-plus banking limit, and you won't be able to put anything in your houses if you're over the standard housing item limit.

The game has been in live service for over 8 years and this is by all accounts a pretty minor patch. There really shouldn't be this degree of regression at this point.

But yes, you are right. Stuff can happen and I don't think it is rational to cancel ESO+ just because of this specific maintenance window (it's been much worse in the past). Cancelling over all the other issues? Depends on if they impact you, up to your own judgement as a customer (it is your money, after all), etc.

It depends of the consequences of this technical issue when the servers are back online.

Not renewing is perfectly rational. If they don't listen to players feedback regarding broken sets, unbalanced classes, and everything else that is wrong with the game, then maybe they will start paying attention when their revenue starts taking a hit.

The only thing Corporations are interested is money, and if Zos is going to keep HA it on ESO then their not going to see another bean from me.

I find easier to understand (and relate to) the current predicament than to having routine maintenance downtime.

The latter is a relic of the previous century that should have been long banished.

The former, well, despite our best efforts it does happen. In fairness I cannot hold them to a higher standard than I hold myself.

Keeping ESO+ is an easy call for me. I only play one game at a time (currently ESO), and I play it a lot. So that translates to a very good value for me. If I played multiple games or played ESO only sporadically, my decision might well be different.

If and when I can find another game I like better than ESO, I'll transition to said game and totally stop playing ESO (and obviously unsubscribe). So it is kind of an all or none thing for me.

Always scanning for a better game. For me that would be an open world medieval fantasy RPG that has all the mass and scale that ESO has, with equally beautiful graphics but single player to avoid the never ending circuitous and fruitless nerfbalance cycle that seems endemic to multiplayer (ESO is the only multiplayer game I've played; it is a drawback I live with due the game's other positive features).
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

Clearly you did not bother to read what I actually wrote. The irrational part would be cancelling over the maintenance window, the rest is up to the individual (not everyone is equally impacted by U35). So no, cancelling a sub is not always going to be rational. Cancelling over temporary server issues isn't rational. If you are impacted by U35, then it is your choice to make on whether or not to cancel. The only person that can say whether you should cancel is yourself, so there is not really much to gain from these forum posts in general.

If you don't feel like you're getting value for the cost, don't. I used to play every night, but the recent state of the game has me down to a couple hours a week...no reason to sub for me.

I did read clearly what you wrote. The constant extra maintenance windows that plague ESO is unlike anything I have witnessed over many MMO'S. Why is it Zos are unable to perform a simple maintenance once a week, that doesn't break their game while CCP (Eve online) can perform daily maintenance of an hour and I can't remember the last time when they had to extend it? For me, this is another reason for me to withhold my money, because it reeks of amateurism

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I doubt if most people who have ESO+ would cancel their sub over a maintenance issue. More likely players would cancel as purse strings are tight, or the game has become old and repetitive, but not over a little maintenance interuption.

I didn't say they wouldn't stay. I said the game will pull mats from your craftbag *first*. Any mats in your craftbag will stay there until used, but the game won't pull mats from your inventory or bank until the craftbag is empty of the mats you're using. Likewise all the items in your bank will stay there but if you are over the normal bank limit, you won't be able to bank any more items until you drop below the ESO+ bank limit.

People complained about the "craftbag first" thing after they dropped + before. Didn't seem to understand they weren't paying for the craftbag anymore so that space was locked. They could still get their mats and bank items. ZOS didn't make all the craftbag, double bank space, and additional housing spaces just go "Poof" and delete all the stuff the instant + is dropped.

1 day left and the game is broken.

A common sentiment that is jokingly responded to with, "infinite craft bag" or something else that doesn't address bugs or loss of game time (the real issues). Those that continue their sub solely on the basis that they get the craft bag will only get resentful in the long term because they will get no satisfaction from that. I'm on the fence with this myself.

I get that you're not saying it's a crappy game necessarily, just wondering if it's worth it to pay for this and that's more than fair to ask. It is getting expensive. I feel you bro.

I will renew my sub comes up. I'm still happily plugging away as a casual player. For me, the alternatives to ESO out there are lacking.

That's not to say I couldn't be tempted away. I'm still waiting for a good LoTR or DnD game to try out. The existing options for those franchises are not ESO-worthy alternatives.

My ESO plus did run out today, glad I DID NOT renew it.
It is simple; if you keep on playing/planning to do so, renew it for max 3 months, not longer.
If you plan on taking a break, don't renew it.

3 things that ESO can not sell are fun, relaxation, and enjoyment. They have to create it in the entertainment they provide. This in turn makes them money and satisfies the end user. When you can no longer find any of the 3 things listed above it is time to move on. Otherwise, neither you nor them will achieve satisfaction.

Always sad to see how many people do not understand that the inventory and storage possibillities are as bad as they are to lure people to ESO+. It is designed that way. They create a problem and sell you the solution.
They could probably get more money from veteran players for many more inven/bank expansions, than they would get from new players buying the basic inven/bank expansions. I'd buy the packrat and donkey 20+ times each, if they all gave +5 accountwide inven slots each.
