Increase slots for open lots?

Zos, It has been 2 years since you (allegedly) evaluated performance of a housing slot increase:

With PC/NA having new hardware, is it time to look into this again, at least in open lots such as Moon Sugar Meadow? I can hit 650 with a decent sized house and it is still completely empty land. I haven't even finished decorating the house, or doing much decorating elsewhere. ( ;) heh).

What say you open lot owners? I, for one, am getting frustrated at having to scale back a lot of decorations just to make room for other stuff I wanted/needed to put in. But the more I remove, the more it gets empty and seemingly pointless to have such a huge area to decorate.

A lot of the reasons they gave is performance issues on console. This is also apparently why we can't have new classes, or skill lines. If that's the case, then I eagerly await the day that Last gen console support finally gets axed, so I can welcome my console brethren to the superior game play. And also, I want more housing slots.

It's either they Axe Console, or only add things for PC, and if they did that, Console users would be justifiably angry.

I know the reasons, that was two years ago...We're talking about just open lots where it's empty, and on new hardware where it they haven't tested it. We're all getting new hardware eventually. Anyway, the whole no new skill lines because old gen is all based on a response that got twisted. Stop using that excuse.

It's also the only reason we've been given, at least as far as I know. They haven't exactly been eager beavers to give us more information.

So console players would be mad if PC got more but we’d be okay with the end of console support?

Also, you know we can’t take all of our goodies to PC if we switch, don’t you?

    So they claim at least.

I am not convinced of the reasoning.

Though my guess would also be on badly designed architecture/code. That is VERY common in these kind of systems. They don't have any real driver to change things for that.

Personally, I think they should add the slots and say something like "hey sorry console users, but because of the limited hardware of your systems, you're going to experience more performance issues the more items you add above the old cap." and leave it at that.

The class animation thing I think isn't as true as they're saying. It's more like they have a limited amount of space for animations and they use it all on npcs, new bosses, and dungeon dlcs/trials, and they don't want/forget/are told not to leave space for classes.

Anyone who has worked in software before that sometimes "we can't do that because XYZ" is accurate and sometimes it is just an excuse. Not sure which is really the case here and no one outside the dev team may know (and many on the dev team may not know either).

I've only built one house on an empty lot and am just under 700 slots being used. I built a castle and a barracks and a hidden oasis under the bridge at Doomchar Plateau, along with some statues on platforms at the entrance protecting the area, and it looks complete to me.

I don't think the problem is so much that we don't have enough slots as it is that some players want to have something in every single open spot. Open space can be part of the design and it is not necessary to have it all filled in.

I am part of the EHT Community if anyone would like to check out this build or any of my other houses to see how I fully decorated without reaching the limit.
