Several people (including myself) are reporting this on Xbox EU and NA.

In my instance:

- Xbox controller
- Accessibility mode off
- Solo

I've been having this problem for a while and it seems to be getting worse. Last time it happened three times in less than an hour.

First log in today, controller disabled after loading in to Imperial City.

In another post (which I can't find) someone said that pushing the menu and map button will bring up a keyboard on console so you can type/reloadui.

Yes, I'm sick of doing that, thanks. Shouldn't have to do it though.

For Playstation you can hit the options button and the center button (Mount) to bring up the keyboard and then type the "/reloadui". I get it less frequently than I used to, but I still get this.

Getting this occasionally on PS5 - great to see that there is no acknowledgement after nearly 6 months across all platforms.

It seems to be happening more and more often for me now PC / EU.
It even happened twice a couple of nights ago when I was in Cyrodill.
I wasn't even able to whisper or send invites, reloadui solved it.

This is what happened the other night when the server crashed. We were in FG II Vet, working on the 4th boss and the controls stopped working. It took about a minute then the screen started flickering then shutdown. I wonder if the same problem is trying to occur but the server is somehow surviving to stay up and running? I haven`t been on today yet but just a thought.

How and Why is this still happening?
6 months later and there is no update, no fix....
It has happened a lot lately, only after zoning in at a wayshtime.

The other night it happened twice straight after zoning in to vardenfell, reloadui and then again after I zoned out of vvardenfell and then later on that evening... It happened again, after that 3 maybe 4 days later it will happen again.

I recall someone from ZoS wanting detailed examples. Apparently they need to be able to find any patterns to this bug and cannot replicate it. I can't replicate it either, it just happens with no pattern after zoning to any wayshrine out of the blue. It's only every other day or so for me also.

Having too this problem recently on xbox series x EU, for some reason sometimes after i wayshrine in another zone the only things that work after is movement and camera the rest doesnt, bottoms wont , everytimes im forced to force close the game and relog. 3 times today in an hour of play.

I don't know if this works on the console but next time it happens, try typing /reloadui into chat. That usually fixes the problem. We shouldn't have to do it, but it's all we've got right now (apart from logging off and logging back in).

I played ESO on the PC for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever. It was one of the updates that introduced this bug (and another bug with the guild trader). It's something the devs did, so hopefully they'll be able to track down which change caused these problems with gamepads.

(Because the devs are having a problem reproducing it, I suspect a threading or other type of similar problem, especially since a /reloadui fixes it. When we're zoning in, things aren't being initialized in the right order or something. The zone finishes initializing without the gamepad controls having been enabled. Or something like that. When I was a (non-game) dev and was tracking down these "I can't reproduce it" type problems, it was often a timing/threading bug, which are notoriously difficult to squash. But it needs to be done, especially since it was working reliably and the devs broke it.)

Been having this issue too forever… so annoying. I used to have to crash the game on Xbox and restart. Such a pain, but now I have a keyboard the /reloadui is more convenient. Another illustration of why we need the upcoming focus on quality instead of just quantity of new content.

If you push the Menu and View buttons together (2 small buttons below the Xbox home button) on your Xbox Controller it will bring up the chatbox so you can do a reloadui and you won't have to restart the game.

Same issue. Sometimes the controller just "dies" after zoning through a door or porting from one way shrine to another. The movement via the sticks still works, all other keys no longer react except for the ps key, so you can switch back to the PS5 menu and close the app. Logging to another controller also doesn't work. The only way is closing and restarting the game which can be quite annoying.
Never had this problem on the PS4, but repetitive on PS5. Eu server.
