a vast majority of the class skills are being outright gutted

templar? dont use jabs use more duel wield flurry that every class has
DK? all your sticky dots are 50-60% less effective
warden?
necromancer? all your pets are super nerfed so better off going with weapon skills
sorc? might be feasible to use class skills if your a pet sorc, if your stam its gonna be all weapon skills though
NB? might be the only feasible class that isnt getting nerfhammered (unless your trying to tank lol)

Maras balm will be meta, doesnt matter which class , doesnt matter if mag or stam. Maybe nightblade and bombers have a shot to kill people , other than that no one will die. (Talking about pvp )

Honestly, it's wild that they literally gutted the most iconic class spammable and just... don't even care that templars are gonna have to run flurry instead.

I have a few friends I chat with, and despite not even playing this game, they are talking about how bad this patch is, and that it's now a subject in the chat of many other games ... people so happy they don't play this game.

As one of them heard it, the templar was given a choice of wet noodle slinging, or flailing like a meth user as their option ....
He says that it got huge amounts of laughter in that chat...

I got a lot of friends in FFXIV as well and talk about ESO has arrived there too - in big even. I guess it makes you feel better with your own game when another one seems to massively fail it's community. Anyway, I remember I said stuff like this is going to happen on the forums rather earlier at this PTS cycle. Because it will be one of the first patches realized openly against the overwhelming wishes of the community. For a community that now has been through years of hoping and begging for a "change in regards to those changes", a community getting a little bit they asked for (and might in small party be happy about!) but even more things they never wished for, more things they are extremely upset about.

Now this is happening after we got an expansion with features many didn't wish for. It wasn't bad of course and many did find a surprisingly nice new activity with the card game. But it wasn't "special", not some kind of "upward trend".

So I guess the community really wants improvements. Not even big ones. They just want their game to improve. Well so do I. But it is not what we are getting. Changes. Changes that make us hopeful. But as of yet, this all has to become one complete picture, something that just works and accepted not because we "have" to, but we are happy to.

nb > dk > sorc > warden/necro > templar

right now on live is
dk > templar > sorc > nb > warden/necro

May slightly vary depending on stam/mag and playstyle. Written from a skill cap pov.

You can be as good as you want. META equipment + META class always beats skill.

Check out the current Oakennoob meta. DK+Corrosive = Free Kill in PVP.

Kinda yes, but it still does not change the fact that some playstyles are kinda um... "favoured" by how the game works & also balancing decisions of the Dev team.

If I am a NB brawler for example and I am decent at it, the class still performers worse vs if I was a decent NB ganker or NB bomber. And next update it will be even more prominent due to NB class changes. And a decent NB Brawler performs (in general) worse than more tanky classes like DK or Templar (if the player is also decent).

There is also gear. The gear in this game creates an insane power creep & can pretty much nullify your skill or knowledge. Simple example again is something that I have experienced. During "no-proc" tests I made a test build that had around 3K health recovery (back then it was not affected by Battle Spirit). 3K was nothing crazy, as it was possible to have 5 or 6K if you min-maxed. After health recovery nerf I replaced it with healing set & it worked pretty well... for 1 patch - till ZOS introduced Dark Convergence, Plaguebreak & Hrothgar sets. My build that had pretty good survivability all of the sudden was a "one shot". If I was not using new sets - I was in terrible disadvantage. Now the pattern repeats, as we have new upcoming sets that yet again will be game breaking & we will have to use them, or else one would be at a huge disadvantage. I don't why they are doing that, maybe to keep us busy & grind for new stuff, idk.

Tldr:
I guess the meta next patch will be new PvP sourced sets + whatever strongest build / playstyle from each class is - although some classes will synergy better with those new sets (mostly tanky ones).

With hybridization you can and should be running vigor anyways. Echoing in group play and resolving solo.
Pretty much all my mag characters do this.
Pretty much all my stam characters run resto back bar with radiating as well.
There is no real clear stam or mag spec anymore.

Can't wait for the stam nerfs next patch, and killing off pillar after i wasted 600k on it in 3 months from now.

I don't get it tbh, this game isn't a ESPORTS game, yet it keeps getting ruined by nerfs. I just don't understand it
why can't we have? and live a stress free game experience? isn't real life stress enough? aren't games made for us to relax a bit?

Why can magicka builds not run vigor? It's an extremely cheap heal.

and i think it was mentioned in another thread that the dmg from that set would only be going down maybe 2% purely because of any other self buffs/class changes that were going on

Same. Hopefully not, but they seem like they wanna nerf the mid tier despite their words of wanting to nerf the high tier. Imo, my bet is on Relequen nerfs with Pillar a patch after that, since with relequen nerfed, pillar is the next best thing.

Also for the meta, DK will still be strong in PVP, same with NB. In PVE, despite the nerfs, Warden is still strong and so is stam sorc, since every class got nerfed quite a bit.
