Seriously though? You got such an active community, proposing tons of interesting light changes and ways for characters and the game to move forward in a way that would benefit everyone. How do we deserve this mess that the upcoming version seems to be? Why all this in the name of accessibility, when the final result - already agreed upon the community pretty much - will be a game with a even wider skillgap then ever before? As a player, I just can't fathom those changes - why? Who came up with the reasoning? Who thinks this will be fun for the players? Does one even care about us? Are we just the stupid nasties that dare to badmouth the untouchable holy grail that seems todays developer vision?

I really don't get it.

What if these changes are aimed at making endgame players, 1%'s leave the game?
    Think about it.
They might be trying to make all endgame content easier for mid tier , low tier dps players so they get interested in endgame content.

Who will complain!? The pros that want hard content? They left!!! Haha :D

That makes no sense though. If they wanted to kill off the game, they would announce that it's being put on life support and are discontinuing service outside occasional balance changes and implementation of things that were already complete. They wouldn't waste time and resources to kill off a game. Do you know how expensive animation alone is? Or 3D modelers? Programmers? Content managers? It would be FAR too expensive to do it that way.

Also, this thread is probably going to get taken down due to violation of the TOS when it comes to conspiracy theories, and OP, you might get a 1-3 day warning ban from the forums due to that. Just a heads up for if you feel like changing the thread before that happens. The thread might just be closed, but still better safe than sorry.

Since we're doing weird theories anyway, I have an alternative one.
The only explanation we've ever had why the DPS nerf was necessary was that it would make it easier to make new content accessible to a wider audience. That didn't really start to make any sense to me until this latest buff to Siroria.
Think about it. Siroria is a fantastic set - if you can stand still and parse and never leave the buff circle on the ground.
The initial DoT changes also make perfect sense if the enemies simply stand still and never moves out of their area - tank n spank, if you like. After massive feedback, it was as if it suddenly dawned on the devs that many enemies move around. I don't for a moment buy the BS some players spout about the devs not playing their game enough to even know this. However, could it be that they've been so invested in certain tank n spank scenarios that they lost track of all the other content? Sure, maybe the dummy was just overused in testung, we all do that cause it's convenient. But I found myself thinking about Gilliam's wording about making new content. More accessible. To a wider audience. In short, could we be in for some new content 3 months down the road where the enemies don't move but really punish the players for not standing still? Something like the root mechanic on the last boss in Kyne's Aegis, where trying to move causes you to take a ton of damage? Maybe in combination with a mechanic that requires a moderate burn - not too high, not too low? Could that be it? Wild speculation, I know, but frankly, way more credible than the OP theory that the devs would actively try to destroy their own livelihood. That's just completely unreasonable.

You do realise that the 1% will adapt and overcome but you casual lot will suffer even more because the skill gap will be even wider with medium weaving and group compositions that are equipped with the right sets and empower.

With the lower damage you won't be able to clear harder content than before, you will even struggle at defeating world bosses.

Too funny when people have no clue and thinking this changes will benefit them 🤣

Endgame players got a buff with the medium attack weaving, which most ESO players will not be proficient at. Endgame players also got a buff by having the hardest bosses in the game's health reduced by 10%. Regular players will still be trying to kill 100% health overland stuff with their nerfed DPS and healing.

Seems more like trying to make casuals leave the game. They will be hit the hardest by these changes.
    RIP Bosmer Nation. 4/4/14 - 2/25/19.

    i like theories...

How about "returning" dps of cp2.0 to cp1 - new cp1200 to correspond to old cp300. No need to rework too much content, only latest. Will open again some form of vertical progression, as currently when cp1200 is nerfed there is nothing to keep hope to improve damage when level up. It will be atleast one more year "development" until cp2.0 is "unlocked", to keep people busy and leveling, without strait away nerfing them (and telling "your time was lost, now start grind again)...

That makes 0 sense while they're still actively putting out content for that very same 1%.

It's not like they stopped making hm difficulty trial or removed trifecta achievements.

I think they genuinely belive that these changes are good for the long term health of the game, or at this point simply dont want to admit that they were wrong.

I think what sets u35 apart from previous big changes, is that it was met with negative feedback from across the entire playerbase.
It's not just endgame players that are complaining now.

End gamers don't really care if content is made easier as long as it's not mind numbingly easy like overland.

I can sort of see this playing a part: getting rid of complaining minority and attract new players, which is always the goal.

Oh well. Of course this doesn't make sense. And that's it - the patch itself does not seem to make sense to me. So as a player, trying to make sense out of something that seemingly does not, this situation kinda forces me to think the weirdest of ideas.

On a serious note by the way: Those changes do not make sense from any kind of business perspective. They are likely genuinely for the players - or at least some part of the playerbase - and well intended. Nevertheless, as I did write, the community seems more on the unhappy side - and even more so at the time of me writing this then now. I mean "now", we know that at least medium weaving won't be an issue, that was something many people did care about strongly. And this is what this thread is all about. Me as a player not understanding what is going on. Why do we get those changes nobody seems to have asked for. Changes in parts doing the exact opposite that what was the announced developer intention.

In regards to me getting manned maybe due to the title name: I am not aware of any paragraph in regards non existing conspiracy theories. Especially not those that are obviously meant not to be taken seriously but just should serve to hammer one point home: There is at least this one player - me - that has one too many question tags above his head. And I do guess as of now - I still don't know what was the intention with week one PTS notes. I assume those of the following weeks are meant for damage control. But accessibility? Lower the ceiling, raise the floor? Play as you want? I that is what they aim for, the changes just don't seem to follow through.
