Would YOU Play an Ironman Mode in ESO?

As in; you flag a new character to be an ironman. You can't trade other players, use guild stores, or use house storage. You have an ironman bank space, which your alts can take items out of but can't deposit items into (basically a blank bank space for your ironman that only they can deposit into). Your stickerbook is reset for the ironman. You cannot use any exp buffs. Your achievements start over on the ironman. Leveling takes longer. But you get milestone achievements, titles, cosmetics, and possibly Seals of Endeavor for your time and effort spent.

Edit; meant to have an "other" option, but I hit enter by mistake and it posted the post. Oh well.

No, even if the game ran perfectly at all times and never bugged out in ways that would be catastrophic to this type of gameplay.

I can understand people wanting a higher difficulty for a game but what your suggesting at least to me just sounds like making the game more annoying.

Well, if "Ironman Mode" only means the things you put in your post, and if the milestone rewards were something I like, I'd probably start a new character with that to get them.
I wouldn't mind playing through all the quests again, and I usually don't use XP buffs on new characters anyway. The one hard thing would be the "no guild trader" stipulation, because without selling some things getting the gold needed for bank upgrades takes a looong time...

If "Ironman" would also imply what it usually does in games (something along the lines of "when you're dead, you're dead" or "when you're dead you loose everything") my answer would be "Absolutely NOT!!!", though.

That's pretty much how I level my characters now. Before the new tutorial I'd make them some basic (white, non-set) gear when they started to make sure they were levelling the right skills but now you can choose what you pick up from the full selection I don't need to do that. The vast majority of the time they're using whatever drops and quest rewards they get. The only thing I tend to share is soul gems and lockpicks and that's mostly so I don't end up with stupid amounts building up because everyone is holding onto all the ones they get.

So for me the restrictions would only get to be a problem once they get to level 50 and even then if they're only being used for questing and exploration it wouldn't make much difference. Obviously I'd do it if the rewards were good enough because why not get a bunch of free stuff in return for some minor changes to how I play, but it doesn't sound particularly exciting or challenging.

I certainly don't think it's worth ZOS creating a separate mode for it. Especially since everything listed except achievements resetting is stuff anyone can do now if they want to, simply by deciding they're going to follow these rules. So if you think the appeal is the novelty or challenge of playing like this (rather than the extra rewards) you can go ahead and do it now.
If "Ironman" would also imply what it usually does in games (something along the lines of "when you're dead, you're dead" or "when you're dead you loose everything") my answer would be "Absolutely NOT!!!", though.

I was surprised that wasn't included. My understanding is that's normally the basis of an 'iron man' or 'survivor' or whatever mode in MMOs and the other restrictions are simply there to ensure you can't trivialise that challenge by stacking them up with upgrades from your other characters.

As described, no. However, while it's nothing to do with "ironman" mode, if I had the option to disable account-wide achievements and run each character's achievements separately as they used to be then I'd jump at that.

Ah, I voted No before reading the text, because I took "Ironman" to be the usual definition - Permadeath.

This is more "solo/self-found", which is basically how I play anyway.

But I'll still say No, because it doesn't need any special rewards/achievements/etc.

That's the other benefit of player-made rules, everyone can customise them to what they want, or what they think might work.

It just seems too easy for a player to choose to level up a character in such a manner without locking them out of anything. So it does not seem like a great use of time and resources to create such a system.

i like the idea of a challenge mode being built into a game by the developers but i don't think this is the way to do it

the current method of implementing hard modes to dungeons is quite nice, and i would instead look into applying that to more areas of the game

Already done that when I started playing, in the old VR days when:
    - xp scrolls given for free weren't a thing.
    - each zone had it's level difficulty
    - you had to farm the "right" trait on gear (sticker book and transmute station weren't a thing)
    - titles, achievements and everything associated was char related, not account wide

I have never heard of an Ironman mode and entered this topic thinking,
    "I. AM. IRONMAN."

But on the topic, yes, I would try it on a character. There are times when I enjoy this game the most on a poorly geared lowbie character.

    Points I like the most:
    1. You can't trade other players, use guild stores, or use house storage.
    2. You have an ironman bank space, which your alts can take items out of but can't deposit items into.
    3. Your stickerbook is reset for the ironman.
    4. You cannot use any exp buffs.
    5. Your achievements start over on the ironman.
    6. Leveling takes longer.

^^^Especially 5 and 6 since we can't make that happen in the game.

Maybe add "Remove (or reduce) the lowbie bonus stat pools" which was added during one tamriel to make it even harder. Dying to mobs could be a thing again.

The perks mentioned are nice though not necessarily needed for my purposes to basically "rough it" in the game as a low level character.

When account wide achievements came to be I created a character on the EU server so I could have one character do everything with no help from other characters. So far has been fun. I wear the gear I find and have been using the food from the daily log in rewards.
I bought some worms from a trader because it is never to early to start working towards the master fisher accomplishment. I also sold some motifs I found that I'm not high enough leveled in crafting to learn. Mostly though just me doing the quests and sometimes queuing for a specific dungeon. I don't queue for random. I can do pledges now so will probably start using the queue for those.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

The idea is the Ironman cannot access your account-wide bank. But it should still have a bank space, and your alts that aren't ironmen should be able to take the things you earned out from that bank to use if you want to, but know that you won't get it back on your ironman.

As a note, if this was a thing, getting high-end stuff would be difficult on an ironman. So taking out that stuff on your non-ironman characters might not be the best bet, especially since you'd be unable to trade with other players or even your own characters via the normal bank.

So I'm not sure what you mean there. new high-end stuff would be much easier to obtain on a non-ironman than on an ironman.

Hell yeah, as a seasonal ladder thing that sounds awesome.

Get points for how many achievements and milestones you get over the season, and get rewards for hitting benchmarks and overall ranking.

and when the season ends, it just becomes a regular character. Any new stickerbook items unlocked become account wide.

A new way to flex an understanding of the game is a good thing, and I could see an iron man mode being a fun ladder to try and climb at least once.

However I don't think there should be an xp penalty in this mode. The ride to CP160 shouldn't take that long because most of the game happens after cp160. If anything there should be an xp boost to see how far the craziest ironmen can get in a season, and so the folks that are more like aluminum-men can have fun with it.

The idea of spending 1-2 hours in the character creator (Ironman mode wouldn't exclude fashion for me!) just to have it deleted when I die, in a game known for its random lag at times, sounds like total madness and recipe for ragequits to me. :D

Something like this works better in other games. I've tried playing new toons with restrictions and the same issue keeps coming up. Overland is still too easy. Dungeons become challenging to an extent, but for the wrong reasons. Constantly running out of resources and heavy attacking all the time.

In theory, I'd like the idea, but coming up with a ruleset that is still fun and compelling in ESO isn't easy.

That's the problem I'm having with my character who can't use magic. I still like the theme but the gameplay isn't really any different to normal. Yes he's using mostly weapon skills (no class skills at all) and relying on potions instead of a self-heal, but most of the time it doesn't feel that different. Add on that the role-play aspect basically comes down to rejecting certain quests (without being able to say why) and I'm getting kind of bored with it.

It doesn't sound very fun for me personally, but if someone wanted this mode, then it can work (besides the achievements being reset, and having new milestone achievements), they'd just have to remember to impose the limitations themselves.
