Thx for the verification as I have been saying from early on that it takes a good imagination and creativity to make such a thing rich and deep vs the shallow and limited aspects of the quests and conversations developers put into the companion dialogues and romance options

The roleplaying is in conjunction with the content most of the time. Thats how roleplaying in rpgs work. When people read books they imagine the events of the book in their head but they are still taking cues from the writing. I really don't get point you are trying to make.

Most RP players developed their own story.

In short, that was my point. You may read the entire post again for further detail.

Of course, I am speaking to RP players who would actually get into the whole character romance thing vs just going through the limited dialogue the developers would create since that is extremely limited.

I'm sorry but what is the point of constantly using such dismissive language like it's all so shallow or whatever, if you're not trying to disregard the idea of them putting it in. What is your point about the work the developers are doing?

We all know roleplayers springboard off the story present in video games.

I'm not at all interested in romance in the games I play, so I don't really care what happens with it when. But I don't see much point in all the arguing?

Some people think that romance isn't commonly present in video games (false), that people who like romance options are automatically trying to create [snip] content (false), are responsible for others actions (false and offensive), that it would create a PR disaster (false), that gift giving makes relationships transactional (it's a normal part of relationships), etc. I think a lot of people have the mistaken impression that romance in video games mandates sex scenes, and they don't want this game to have sex scenes, especially if it's tied to rewards they'd want.

I doubt that's ever gonna happen because it's not how the Elder Scrolls franchise handles romance at all, but I think that's the fear. Probably because of a bad impression from games on Steam.

I merely pointed out that what the developers add is shallow. It is extremely limited, and unless someone adds more to the story on their own, it becomes nothing more than a footnote to their gaming experience.

I just brought out the reality of such a system and that it requires a player to do their own work if they want such a system to seem meaningful to their gaming experience.

So your basically just trying to convince us that video game romance options are shallow? Okay. That's your opinion. Got it. Do you think they should add it? Because that's what I'm wondering.

    No.

I have been very specific that the part the game developers add is extremely limited, which is shallow by definition. In response to comments you made, I have noted that it takes a player's creativity and imagination to build on that if they want it to become something more. Otherwise, as I have already stated, it becomes nothing more than a footnote to their gaming experience.

Beyond that, Zenimax already stated an interest in adding a romance option in some manner. Based on Zos' feedback in this thread, it seems to be still a thing but not a high priority which I agree on. I mostly agree with their priority realizing that players who are truly interested in romancing their companions in any manner are already RPing such a thing without waiting for a few lines of dialogue to be added to the game.

I respect that you want Zenimax to add some dialogue to the game for this, which is fine. But I have clarified that a player's imagination and creativity will eclipse anything Zenimax or even Bioware could add to the companion system in this regard.

Have a good day; I do not think we need to keep saying the same thing back and forth. Enjoy the game, and good luck getting this added.
