Can appearance change please be free?

Even if it is just once a week... I have spent so many crowns and gold on appearance changes because either the character model has issues or the motifs have issues... and now i can't afford it anymore and i'm stuck with a character i don't enjoy visually and i don't feel like even opening the game.

please even if just once a week, like character deletes give us one for free.

it doesn't help that on pc trying to chose the right body type is so hard the crosshair is so slippery :(

it's just painfull having to pay 10 euros just to be able to change a hair color or increase a bit a arm syze because of a weirdly made motif

Sorry to say that, but I doubt ZOS will turn appearance free, or even in-game gold related. It's a good source of profit, imho.

I'd settle for a hair dye token that costs a couple hundred gold.

I already own all the packs for stuff like haircuts and adornments.

Will never happen because they'd rather make you spend those 10 euros and they know you'll keep playing anyway.

This is how live services work.

No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

This is just one of the many examples of why I would be embarassed to recommend ESO to anyone. I can only speak from my personal game experience, but ESO has the most predatory micro transaction practices I've come across. I can't tell you how many times I've made a character to only see it looks way lighter/darker/shorter/fatter/has an oddly large arm once I've seen it in game. There should at least be an option to preview the character in the world instead of some dimly lit study with the absolute worst freaking lighting.

I'll delete a character - the account keeps the motif, so I can work on the next one in the way that I want...... only when NO ONE buys those tokens, and there is no profit, will they bother finally adding what every other game has.

I use to have this issue. The best solution I learned was to make new characters on the PTS, then play them in various areas in game to see them in varying lighting, and try on several outfits. Appearance tokens are free on PTS, so tweaking appearances is much easier.

Other games let you change your appearance for free. Though some other games don't.
TBF, with the systems in ESO, you can get a lot of freedom when it comes to changing your appearance (so long as you spend crowns for hair styles and such). It's not a great or player-friendly system by any means, and I'm not happy with it since giving players more freedom of expression would definitely cause more people to be a bit happier with the game and also spend more time with it.

Personally, I'd like to see an appearance station for sale in the Cash Shop, and allow for hair to be dyed with the dyes available in game through this station. That would give reason to buy it beyond just an appearance change coupon if it gives hair color functionality. Could totally see ZoS selling it for 5k crowns in the crown store and releasing it for free every one-in-a-while through events.

The only problem is people playing on console and Stadia don't have access to the PTS, nor do people who don't have the space to install it. Plus there's the fact that if you want to tweak an existing character, you can only do it if your region is saved to the server.

It's a great tool to use for people who have access to it. But considering how bad the lighting is for character creation and how different characters look between creation and the actual game...we really should at least have a grace period where we can change things for free. Maybe for two or three days? Especially since certain things are very easy to forget to change, like a character's voice.

Another thing is, the character creation screen is not an accurate depiction of what you end up with. The face shape, eye size, nose etc… can look totally different. That is what frustrates Sammy the most: false representation and the gall to charge you to try to correct it.

I doubt it will become free for obvious reasons.

What I think would make sense is a scaling cost. Change one slider costs X crowns. Changing two sliders costs 2X. Change three sliders cost 3X. A cap on the cost is reached at a certain point, which would be the same as the current cost for an appearance change token.

This would be a good business move since it would open the door to more cost-effective tweaks that will not happen with the current design. RP players may use this more frequently to put a scar on a character for a story and may make multiple changes over the course of the story, but would not if they had to buy a token each time.

    Just a thought.

I bought an Appearance Change Token for my main character the last time they were on sale, but haven’t used it yet. Been living with the ugliest Khajiit ever for six years because I didn’t want to spend crowns to change it. It’s taken me 5 toons to get a toon that looks good enough from character creation. Now I’m afraid I’ll get partway through the process of changing my main toon and mess something up, try to back out and lose my token. Maybe someday, lol...

Can assure you you won't. If you back out you don't consume the token.

I've used quite a few so I'm 100% sure on this.

Second issue is, that learned crafting motifs what learned that deleted character you can't craft items in that style.

Race change tokens and appearance change tokens would be cool to have as daily login rewards. It kind of sucks for new players too that they put so much work and effort into their class+race character, decide to have it as a main, and then find out that it sucks for the role they had in mind for it, and that the only way they can redeem it is by paying extra *real world money*. It shouldn't be like this.

I've done the same thing. My Bosmer's face has changed over time somehow, and I have used a couple of tokens to change her again.

For me, the lack of 'barbershop' where we can spend gold to change our appearances is one of the most glaring omissions in the game, which otherwise has so much going for it's RPG toolkit. I think it should def be a subscriber perk at the very least, and would bring ESO in line with most other top tier MMOs.
