No nerf for sorceror king orgnum/maormer deck?!?!?!

Everyone I have spoken to agrees that it basically ruins the game if someone picks it.

The patron ability is WAYYYY too strong, and the only counter is somehow drawing a tithe on like, turn 4, and have an extra 6 gold to spare. So you need 9 gold and terrific luck, otherwise you lose.

There may not be much data on it because it is the last to unlock (and not easy to unlock), but it is completely toxic and ruins Tales of Tribute as a game.

Almost only feasible nerf: slash the benefits of the patron in half. There is no need to combo a deck with this deck. Every turn is just 'hit the patron'.

Honestly, the rest of it is fine imo. There are counters and synergies for everything, but this deck....
this deck has only one real counter, and it's nearly impossible to do before the game is over. It's a staring match over who flips the patron first.

The fix isn't the cards or anything, it's not complicated at all.
The patron action just needs to be toned down (a lot).

If someone picks this deck, it completely ruins the game, and I've yet to meet someone who thinks otherwise.

Maormer supremacy! In all seriousness I haven't gotten into the card game yet, so I hope they balance things out cause once I get this deck I'm always going to pair it with whatever deck is active just for the aesthetics xD

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

The deck serves its purpose, it makes for a fast game with a little bit of a chance to beat the flip of a coin.

I lost 2 out of 3 in a row last night but those 3 games didn't take me an hour to play.

If I changed anything it would be that if you hold favor it either gave you the free card or decreased the number of cards to create a point but not both.

That alone would stop the need to chase the spam.

Well, in making it a short game, it effectively invalidates the rest of the game. The game becomes: tithe, gold, exchange for writ of coin... and that's about it.

It turns an otherwise fantastic game into an absolute joke. People claim red is luck based. This deck is complete luck, and creates a different game that almost no one wants to play.

vRg is still a buggy mess and vDSR trifecta is basically impossible to achieve now.
    Everything comes out half baked.
Instead of finishing up the hybridization changes like dual type jewelry damage glyphs or potion hybridization they decided to break the rest of the game.

The entire Patron ability just needs to be redone. If you have a patron ability that has to be used every single turn then it is fundamentally broken compared to the rest of the games design they even showed that they know its broken because they specifically made the Duke of Crows unable to be spammed every turn.

yeah, it's bizarre. I wonder if it just received the least play testing because the play testers didn't want to play it lol.

with auto-play turned on for cards, it effectively removes the idea of Tales of Tribute being a card game at all

I don't pick it in Player matches but I pick Orgnum every time for NPC matches. Once you can win almost every game on an Expert NPC you will get a better feel of when to wait around or when to go ahead and chase it or maybe even start it yourself.

I've lost one match to an NPC since I started playing this way for my dailies.

That said, I still think the favored boon needs to be changed to one improvement or the other and not both. (1 point for every 4 cards and no free card or leave it 1 point for every 6 cards and add the free card)

i honestly see the orgnum patron as kind of similar to function as the crow, but you get more points based on how many cards you own

it could just get the crow treatment and only allow you to use it when its neutral or unfavored like the crow patron, therefore no spam

many of the cards in the orgnum deck are already potent enough as is

Funny enough, I know how broken this is, but I had the opposite effect that got me a win against Nefas lol.

So look at how it works first:
    • Favoured - pressing it gets you 1 power, -1 for every 4 cards you have, earn the +2 prestige card.
    • Neutral - pressing it gets you 1 power, -1 for every 6 cards you have.
    • Unfavoured - pressing it gets you 2 power, no conditions.

Esentially, if a player presses Neutral with not enough cards to hit 18 for a total of +2 power, Unfavoured is better than Neutral.

So in my game against Nefas, he would change it from Neutral to Favoured on his turn, then I'd change it from Unfavoured to Neutral on my turn.

This back and forth gave me +2 power and only gave him +1 power, since the patron costs 3 gold, there was never enough with the 0-2 gold remaining to buy something from the Tavern.

This back and forth happened for 10+ turns between us, the game ended with both of us only having basic cards and power from the patron with me having a 20 point lead to 40 against him.

I'm guessing Nefas thought it was funny, so he just kept "falling" into the same trap on purpose after 2-3 turns. The game was over in 3 minutes.

Also.. this patron was actually nerfed on PTS to no longer provide the free card, but the power scaling remains.

I think it may actually be in a good place now, at least, it should be tested in it's current state before making any judgements. They can't snowball as easy because their 3 gold gets converted into 1-2 power early game, forcing them with no way to stack the 2 prestige cards unless they're also buying from the Tavern and getting lucky.

That's neat to see that they did give nerfing it a try. I hope that helps a bit. I always felt like Orgnum was the Patron for people who absolutely hated ToT and just wanted the match to end quickly with as little interaction as possible. I hated that. NPCs also place such high value on it that you can get them to ignore all else and just farm brainless matches with them. It really sucks.
I kinda like the idea of it being like the crows, used as power bomb late game, but that might be too 🤞 excluding the additional card makes him suck less.

Yeah I think most people don't understand that it's risky to try and play the spam.

I beat any player who tried the spam. They don't seem to understand I get +2 power and they only get +1 power. It's a slow burn and by the time they realize what they're doing, it's too late.

The best is when you got good gold per turn and can manage to both counter their patron and keep build a deck.

    It doesn't need a need a nerf.

This back and forth gave me +2 power and only gave him +1 power, since the patron costs 3 gold, there was never enough with the 0-2 gold remaining to buy something from the Tavern.

this, ive definitely done this against an npc

the npc selected rahjin and orgnum, and in one of the first few turns i nabbed a pounce and profit from the tavern, i waited to hit orgnum until the npc started hitting orgnum

with the pounce and profit being a strong +5 gold card i was also able to nab up some other orgnum cards (such as the agent that when doing a combo also adds a card to your deck) and was able to beat out the npc
