i forsee people countering it with hard passive buffs that wont get removed

oaken for minor buffs, chudan for major resolve, people already use camo hunter for anti stealth which gives the major crit buff (or flare for major protection), or even go back to something like rattlecage for the major dmg buff
    plays PC/NA

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Fortunately, oaken still has some Majors, but it definitely is the only counter

I don't know why the combat team keeps creating so many obvious headaches for themselves by introducing sets such as these which are obviously broken. You can expect it to get nerfed soon after it hits live like other things that obviously didn't fit their 'power budget' spreadsheet.

Now will it get nerfed because it didn't fit their power budget or will it get nerfed because they met their quota for sales of High isle? Hmmmmm

    I despise purge (buff) mechanics.

It makes the combat, especially in PVP, so tedious. "Oh wait, did I get debuffed again? OK, switch to backbar, re-cast buff...wait, it got purged again? Sigh"

Major resolve will rebuff every time you vigor or use an armor ability and potion buffs can’t be rebuffed. And permanent buffs can’t be removed. Where does the tedium come in?

Well there won't be any tedium really. Cause people will be dropping dead left and right when they are missing their damage buffs and crit buffs and armor buffs and regen buffs....

Also not everyone uses that morph of vigor. I think the last time I slotted it was almost four years ago. And as a dragon knight it's not like I don't want to run my class armor buff anyway. Sorc would feel the same about hurricane. And wardens, and necros, and templars, and... well I guess nightblades don't even need it. *Shrug*

It's gonna be bad when you use a potion, only to have those buffs removed completely. Magplars have no real access to Major Sorcery, outside of Biting Jabs. So many depend on pots for this. But now many will have to slot Degeneration and/or run 2h Rally.

Imagine you play with the default UI (no addons) and your buffs get purged constantly. Sounds like a nightmare to manage.

We shouldn’t need to change our entire builds just because of one imbalanced set. Not saying you support/ don’t support the introduction of the set, but if players are forced to do this to respond to the set it really displays the lack of balance here.

It needs a stipulation like no enemy player can be affected more than twice by this set in 30 seconds

It's a base game PvP set.

    Oakensoul nerfed, Oakensoul needed.

This set is base game update. Everybody can run it. Not everybody has buyed High Isle to get the best counter. Maths.

i think this set was probably introduced because it is something i have seen requested on the pvp forums as a way to combat ball groups, by being able to essentially purge another players buffs

however, i dont necessarily think its going to be used as intended, although it will still hurt the ball groups it will also hurt solo players

the thing about ball groups is that players are a force multiplier and when working in a coordination faction can more easily direct that power where it needs to go

thats why a 12 person ball group can take on a 40 person zerg

so the way that i see things rolling out with this set as is, will be ball groups will end up using "passive" buffs from skills or gear (in my example i used chudan and oaken, which still leaves room for 5pc set) so they could run chudan/oaken/nocturnal and be buff purging people around them at the same time while losing very little power on their own

    Sure. But Oakensoul sure isn't.
