Surprise Attack doesn't always crit when flanking

The change of SA doesn't seems to work yet, despite the tooltip being updated

Is that a 6 mill or 3 mill dummy? IIRC, the 6 mill dummies are positioned wrong with where the front and back is.

As a brawl NB main with 5k hours on the class this is just crazy, SA stuns, applies sundered, off balance, always crits. this is obviously too much, the skill was overloaded without the guaranteed crit.

Jabs is overloaded, SA is fine

The flank is the 270-degree arc that is not the frontal 90-degree arc. Hitting it from the side would count as a flank on that dummy whether the "front" is the dummy's face or back.

I'm also on the PTS right now and can confirm that Backstabber works on the 3 6 mil dummy's back, not the front. They were switched at one point but have been front = front for a while now.

Maybe if the stun doesn't happen, it won't crit? And dummies can't be stunned

If the crit is dependent on the stun, then the tooltip needs to be updated to reflect that. "Always" means "always," not "if the target is stunned."

Gosh, I completely forgot about the PvE aspect of this. How was that ever a good idea...

Most people forget there are PvE nightblades, too :p

Maybe it always crits when the server is actually capable of recognizing that you're flanking

They converted one effect on Concealed Weapon (Minor Expedition instead of sneak speed bonus) making the skill more useful outside of stealth builds and they also added 300 spell & weapon damage unique buff for 15 seconds when exiting stealth invisibility.

So it is obviously better when compared to current live server Surprise Attack. That is why they added guaranteed crit chance when flanking. Because without adding anything strong to Surprise Attack - Everyone would run Concealed Weapon.

But even with the crit bonus on Surprise Attack, Concealed Weapon still looks very tempting and I would even say that it might be better choice, since you can still get guaranteed crit with NB's Cloak.

Can confirm in 8.1.1 suprise attack is still NOT 100% critting from flank even when standing directly behind dummy, Needs a fix.

This is basically my sentiment since it was announced. Even with the so-called "guaranteed" crit from flank on SA, concealed I believe will out perform if you build around mag based rather than stam based.

I've been staying out of the forums since the last time I was replying, I dealt with several very "passionate" people who think adding an unnecessary crit to SA is OP. Listen, if I had a crown for every time I failed to crit out of cloak, I'd have ever radient apex mount.

Unfortunately it worked very well when I tested it. "Flanking" is 75% of all angles in ESO. I don't know what bug you met but regarding the change I am expecting it to get tweaked. Last time I encountered such an overpowered change was with some templar ability that was supposed to ignore block. Only time I every wrote strongly about a specific change I believe - or perhaps the first of two if this comment is counted as such.
