Can we expect full graphics upgrade?

ESO needs a texture rework for the old zones for sure.
But I think its more important to add draw distance and please CHANGE ALL THE DISTANT MOUNTAINS. The distant mountains textures look SO BAD. Even at release.

The game looks freaking amazing on my PS5 with 4K TV. I’ll have to find a nice screen snapshot to share here.

Here is one I took on the Xbox Series X in Fidelity mode on a 4K TV. Not bad considering it is night time. I'm sure someone could get better screenshots during daylight.

I'm not sure the game can handle more intense graphics at the moment. The devs are trying to lessen the load on servers, not increase it.

Your computer (or console) handles all the graphics rendering, not the server. All the server does is broadcast positional information and interaction information with NPCs and other players through skills or the "interact" keys. Nothing to do with your graphics quality settings.

I'm not arguing against some touch ups, but for my dollar, I care if it WORKS. Daggerfall was a great epic game that I poured countless hours into. You could still play it today (if you could find it, and a machine to run it) and really enjoy it. However, compared to anything in the past ten years, it will look like hot garbage. And my find memories are likely colouring my opinion rosy. I like the pretties too, but good solid gameplay and robust servers and programming should always come first. I mean, 'beat yourself to death with a stick' provided some good times, and the graphics were a stick figure, with a stick. But it never crashed on me once lol.

Daggerfall's available online somewhere. I still have CDs in a couple of compilations of all the games up through Skyrim. And I can actually run Daggerfall on not only this machine (~10 years old) but also on my much newer (only 6 years old) laptop which still runs Win 7 but doesn't get to connect to the internet. And yes, it is VERY dated graphically. I set out to replay it a few months back, but the worst problem for me is it's all in first person. It used to not bother me (thirty years ago or so).

Returned for High Isles and must say, upon login the game demonstrated its age (when compared to other MMOs on the market).
A re-work of all the textures is not what I'm asking... thats just not feasible. How about the increasing the high detail draw distance? For static objects (buildings , terrain , etc) and players?

    Please no!

Every single restoration I've seen has always destroyed the games. Especially now that unbearable colour reductions and bad lighting are trending. Even as it is, if you watch carefully, the light and colour is always better on the older regions.

I was playing a lot o State of Decay 2, and recently I completely stop playing it because of an unwanted visual update like. The game end up losing its visual appeal to look just like any other zombie trash.

It's too risky. In game restorations developers get too tempted to change too much so people can easily spot the differences. I love ESO as it is. That's why I play it. If I wanted something more demanding with more recent graphics, I would be playing something else.

Anyway. Options are always good. If it's possible to preserve the game as it is now, and allow at the same time other players to play in another full graphics upgrade version... it would be ok. I just want to be able to keep playing ESO as it is.

The original Daggerfall is on Steam for free. Then, there's also a graphically modded version called Daggerfall Unity, which you can get for free at GOG.

I have an old I3770K CPU overclocked to 4.0 GHz, an Nvidia RTX 2080 TI Graphics card, and I have all visual settings in ESO set to their maximum values. I have 3x32 inch monitors in surround (5760x1080) with the screens curved around so that the outer edges of the outside screens are at the very edge of my peripheral vision, and I always play in first person view for the total immersive effect, (even in PVP). Even with all this stress on the older hardware for the visuals, and fast action, this game is absolutely amazing. Especially since it was released 8.5 years ago. Eight years is an incredibly long time ago in computer technology. Newer games might have better visuals, but ESO is hard to beat, especially with the performance improvements on the PC/NA servers.

Try this: Go to The Reach or Western Skyrim when the visuals are nighttime. Turn off the background music and turn up the sound FX. Get on a road and just start “WALKING” towards a town or settlement. You will hear the night sounds, like various animal life, crickets, frogs, the occasional eagle, a dog barking in the distance. Look up at the sky to see the Northern lights in all its brilliance against the distant moons. And listen to your footsteps against the stone pathway while taking all of this in. This is truly a very unique game, and I think it will be around for a long time.

Yes when you first see it it does....it looks even more amazing with a Geforce 3080 Ti and a Samsung HDR 4k monitor...but even in the new areas if you Strat to notice you can see low poly rocks, blurred textures and Mannequin-esq characters.

These things can all benefit from higher poly count models and better textures and the trade off would actually be minimal performance wise. I hope they address these as they go.

    How odd.

(I actually go to Glenumbra all the time - porting to the Coven Cottage is the start of a common farming route for me, as well as a shortcut to a waystone - and I think it looks like ESO? It's quite nice.)

Hmm, I guess it depends on the person. I don't generally notice stuff like that. But I also never noticed what some people called "obvious" errors in movies - boom mikes reflected in windows, an incorrect car in the background, etc.

Maybe ZoS could do a chapter where they redo the base game zones then like WoW did in Cataclysm. It would literally take a full chapter to revist all the zones that came with the game at launch.

Rich Lambert, the game director, has said in the past that this is not going to happen. They would much rather spend dev time exploring new areas of Tamriel, than rework existing zones.

Maybe that will change in the future, but I doubt it. There's still many different zones in the map that could make for interesting chapters, like the Bosmer walking city of Falinesti, the Telvanni Peninsula in Morrowind, or pretty much anywhere in Hammerfell.

ESO visuals are amazing compared to other MMOs, they have aged very well actually and you can still get great scenes from base content:

I was doing the Craglorn group delves just the other day, some amazing visual content in there that I forgot all about... god I miss adventure zones!

I've got both a PS5 and a powerful gaming PC (3080 Ti also) and with a 55 inch Samsung, the game looks identical on both machines so I really don't know where the so called "PC does it better" came from. I play both but I am more on console as have a bigger group of friends on there than PC but I love the graphics on both especially in new areas that have been optimised.

I can never understand why people think the PC's are so superior, sure some PC's are insane but unless your spending 10K plus then PS5 can match it (don't own XBOX so cant compare) and the PS5 can output 8K if you have the tv so its far from "not cappable of matching PC"
