Once opened don't the have a despawn timer? I remember a similar issue from not long after launch with people leaving worms in cloth/alchemy harvest nodes and that got sorted afaik

Shame your god of hard work can't see fit to punish the ones who trash the world for others

10 minutes from the last time someone opened it. This means if someone new comes along and opens it again, doesn't take all of its content the timer refreshes back to 10 minutes.
Another reason people may not take all of its content is Isobel and not wanting to lose rapport with her even if its a very minor amount, if you just take the gold and no objects she doesn't respond to it. Bastian I think reacts either way, but he's not as well loved so if you have Issy you can take the gold and she's okay with that.

I have personally stood beside nodes for long periods of time and watched them spawn, despawn, spawn, despawn. The timing of both the spawning and the despawning varies, although I don't know by how much they vary. It seems like nodes in starter zones spawn on a quicker cycle than nodes in other zones, so you could try watching them in a starter zone. If you're worried about someone coming along and taking the node that you're watching, try it on the PTS. And be patient, because the timer is not on a fixed schedule, so you might need to wait awhile.

Sorry but that's simply not true, just checked one myself someone had looted the safebox inside the enchanters in Davon's Watch, I did my writs, looting, and banking well over your 10 min mark and it never despawned still says steal. To me rumors like this just wind up encouraging the trolls, I've seen people make all kinds of claims over the years, oh a streamer said this or that (like streamers never lie), show me the proof. No one ever has.

People who leave stuff behind in chests & nodes, knowing it will mess up other people, are trolls. Whether it's due to laziness, inconsiderateness, or maliciousness.
There's plenty of inventory space, unless you're one of those people who feels the need to carry several loadouts of gear with you everywhere.

How about people who leave stuff behind knowing it won't mess up other people?

Not sure what the connection is to the event.
SeaGtGruff wrote: »@TimeViewer: First of all, I never said anything about a 10-minute timer; someone else did. As far as I could tell when I was observing the spawning/despawning cycle, the time interval from spawning to despawning, and then from despawning to spawning, did not appear to follow consistent and predictable lengths of time. Nevertheless, despawning does occur.
You seem to have already made up and closed your mind about this matter, but I do encourage you to take the time to actually go out and observe an untouched resource node, treasure chest, or thieves trove, and watch what happens to it. You'll need to be very patient, and you'll probably need to do it on the PTS to ensure minimal interference from other players, or at least do it in some fairly remote spot in a sparsely-populated zone.
Do that, or don't do that; it makes no difference to me. But if this issue truly does matter to you, then you owe it to yourself to find out for yourself through careful and unbiased observation.
