Isobel's Walk

Be nice if there was a way to change companion "personalities" - and by this I don't mean their voice acting and what they say and all that, I mean the "personality" collectible that they have. Isobel's hand on the hip and other gestures while she's standing around are sassy and cute, cool enough, but watching her stomp around with the hyperbolic vigor of a toddler pretending to be a lumberjack is a little bit tiresome.

Yeah, I gave her a really sexy outfit and she still walks like a man! :D

I noticed it earlier, it does look a bit awkward. Is the swashbuckler or heroic personality perhaps? Neither of those have looked right on my female characters but it's probably a matter of prefrence.

Yeah, she does have a very 'mannish' walk... I actually LOL'd when she asked if Lyris was seeing anyone. However, it actually fits my character concept of her, so I'm all good with that. Just wish I could put adornments on her head, she'd look cool with a tiara.

Sometimes, she walks like she just got off a horse.

Which, in her defense, I guess she sorta has most of the time.

I find it a pity that people are so judgemental and unappreciative of her walk. I quite liked the fact that she walked like the strong, heroic person she sets out to be. She walks as though she's wearing heavy armor, and looks confident in herself.

Tastes differ, I suppose, but I'm quite glad she doesn't fit into the stereotypes.

That is why you and I like Mirri, she can walk with a quite sexy hip swing, approaching you saying "uh, that was quite a bit of a warm up" - she is adorable, even she is skinny and not necessarily attractive and I would definitely buy her decent meals, if I could. That lass is always famished, no wonder she is that skinny. And some high calories beer would help with it as well. She is craving for it anytime I brew some alcoholic beverage.

Problem is, she's not always WEARING heavy armor. They could have just given her a normal walk, which would work with ANY type of armor. Instead they allude several times to her being a lesbian and they gave her a very masculine walk... which IMO seems like stereotyping.

If her walk were "a little bit masculine" it would indeed fit in with her character (which is in fact utterly stereotypical in our Tough Girl age) but that isn't really my point. This walk is so over the top it even looks silly with a man doing it, though maybe Errol Flynn could pull it off.

Or they could let us apply a personality like they do a costume and those who want her stomping around can keep it that way and those of us who are annoyed by it can change it. It'd be nice to put helmets and hats on them too.

I wouldn't make fun of anyone's walk to her face, I'm talking about a cartoon character that I want to be able to modify.

lol yeah she does have kind of an oddly intense resting face, I thought that might have been a mistake, vs the walk which was obviously intentional

I think it's sad that there's even a discussion about the way Isobel walks. Even if she's just a game character, why does everything a person does need to be commented on. You can also just take people as they are.

Her walk isn't nearly as bad as this thread makes it sound... But judging by some of the comments it isn't really about the walk in the first place. It's about "how come I can't turn my knight into a sexy sex female? How dare she be so masculine?" Yes, indeed, how come a knight walks like a knight, literally unplayable.

I am all for additional companion customization though, because player choices. I certainly wouldn't mind if we eventually got the ability to apply personalities to them.

I remember one time, in real life, when a coworker told me that I have a "gay" walk. That there's just something... feminine about it. Something that made me give off the vibe of a gay man.

I still have no idea what that person was on about.

Point is, in real life or in game, people walk the way they walk. Things like this make them an individual. Don't be so judgmental about it, or assume it means something particular, or you run the risk of sounding like my homophobic coworker. If you don't like the companion's personality, maybe just don't summon them.

I mean, I unlocked Bastian and proceeded to ignore him indefinitely, and it's worked out pretty well so far.

...and then there's me who hasn't even noticed anything strange about Isobel's walk until reading this thread, because it's a thing I just don't care about. Why would you even think about such things? Whether in reality or in fiction, I see people as individuals with their unique traits and characteristics and don't believe that everyone and everything around me has to cater to my specific individual taste (and especially not to what I find attractive in that way).

If you don't want a robust female knight as a companion but a sexy hip-swaying skimpily dressed bellydancer type of woman, then maybe she's just not the right companion for you. I personally don't care much about Khajiit and prefer male companions over female ones, but I wouldn't ever suggest getting a customization option to turn Ember into a male Altmer instead. It's just not the character she is in this story.
