[SPOILER] High Isle voice change

Just got to the part in the main story when Ayren makes an appearance in High Isle and she looks very different from the Ayren as seen everywhere else in the game. She certainly doesn't look like the same person that her enemies have referred to derisively as a "teenager." She looks middle aged in High Isle.

And then there's her voice... I guess Kate Beckingsale is no longer doing her voice but whoever is doing it now sounds quite different.

Honestly it's a bit disconcerting having such different versions of the same major NPC in one game.

Hmmm, if it is indeed a new voice actor, maybe they changed her look to match the new voice......if that makes sense. Try to make you ignore the new voice by seeing the visual first and focusing on that? Ignore me, I don't even know what I'm blabbering on about lol.....

Kinda lore breaking for in her society she is considered a teen but it could be that time has passed and they couldnt get kate beckinsale to voice her again

Thank you for good news, forum user <3 I hoped they'd find a new voice actress for Ayrenn for gods know how many years. In some original 2014 promo videos Kate did say this was her first VA job ever and it showed, right? Here's to renewed Ayrenn Arana Aldmeri, hooray!

I still think it's Kate Beckinsale voicing her though, it has been 8 years since Ayrenn's last appearance in the Base Game, same thing goes for Bill Nighy for Emeric.

Here's the alliance leaders during The Weight of Three Crowns, try to compare voices:
    https://youtu.be/0MuRvvieMQ4

If it really does sound different, try finding Ayrenn in Dune (Reaper's March) and Emeric at the end of Hall of Heroes (Southern end of Bangkorai) to do an in-game comparison.

I'm more concerned with the time-warp thing than realistic stress aging.

Honestly the game kind of needs a WOW-like cataclysm to make the timelines in the various zones more congruent. It's kind of all over the place currently although the NPCs that make guest appearances in chapters and DLCs typically look and sound the same. Ayren does not and that was my whole point.

I'm not even sure what the High Isle timeline is although it's clear it happens during the war.

Peace talks and Alliance delegates have been a known feature from ZOS' own promotional material for many months.

I suppose it's possible that someone reading that would not know who "the delegates" are but that's a pretty weak argument for a spoiler tag.

I didn't know that Ayrenn was part of the storyline.

I think it's prudent to use spoiler tags for everything, regardless of whether you think players should know something, this soon after a content drop. It's common courtesy. In the grand scheme of things, no harm done. I can usually avoid spoilers, but you used it in the subject line. Maybe edit that so others can avoid.

Alliance delegates do not necessarily guarantee the Alliance LEADERS though. They could have sent ambassadors to be their delegates, so yes loudly announcing Queen Ayrenn is in the new Chapter in the title of your thread less than a week after the Chapter was released is a spoiler. You’re giving away a major plot important character who isn’t named in the prologue or promotional material, which is inconsiderate to people who haven’t gotten that far yet.

(This is why I go through the main quest on PTS. :| )

We were explicitly told during the prologue that those joining the secret meeting would need to be in possession of an amulet that was enchanted. And once they had touched the thing no one else would be able to use it. We race against the clock to stop Aryenn, Emeric and Jorunn from touching the things once we find out they have been boobytrapped. So it was obvious from that point on that the actual leaders of the Alliances would be directly involved and not some delegates.

She seems about the same, just got her model updated a tad. Her eyes are less derpy and her skull is not getting smooshed by her helmet. They also nerfed her eyebrows. Better hair. Also, different clothing.
Nose, eye colour, ears, mouth, wrinkles are the same.

Voice wise, even when I hear samples of her voices one after the other, I can barely tell what's changed. Like, maybe her voice is slightly raspier? Otherwise her mannerisms are the same.
I'd like to say that it's still Kate, she's just unable to 100% reproduce the same tone, but I don't know for sure.

Actually, after listening to an interview with Kate from 2021, I think it's 100% her.

And also for the first few weeks it hasn't released yet on console.

I'm not so personally worried about this particular statement as I did the prologue when it came out in April, but it would be nice generally for people to remember that not everyone wants spoilers or are on the same timeline

That's the portion of your post that could be considered a Spoiler by someone who's going into High Isle blind, or as a new player who won't have done the Prologue.

Now, you do what you like with that information.

Personally, this is the second time I've seen someone ask you to spoiler things related to High Isle, so it might indeed be a nice thing to do. But again, do as you please.

Its probably also a good idea that if you dont want to be spoiled that you dont go onto a site dedicated to the discussion of said content.

Someone who cares that much about story being spoiled, probably skipped all that "promotional material" beyond the basics.

(I'm not really bothered by it, but I'll tell you that all I new about High Isle was that first trailer, and that there was a card game. This is the first I've heard about "peace talks" or "delegates". I tend to avoid all the "we're going into detail about everything about this upcoming game/tv show/movie" articles & interviews. Just the basic trailers is enough.)
