Crown Gems - Do You Spend Yours?

I find I tend to pile up things like this since I have the "fear" of wanting something in the future and not having them to spend. I doubt I should worry, since I know have 4000+ of them on PC NA, but I bet I will still have all of them 2 years from now, if not more.

Anyone else like this?

(I am not arguing about them, just wondering if others here fall into the "collect mode" like I do.)

I have the opposite problem lol I see something I like and I use whatever seals or endeavors I have to get it. I'm terrible about saving it. But I probably should. I do want one radiant mount on my account eventually...

I think I spent some on the /qanun emote, but that might have been Endeavors, I don’t recall. I do try to have an Apex mount’s worth of Gems banked, just in case.

I only get my gems from the twitch drop crates, so I'm never going to have too many to begin with, so I spend them on cosmetics mostly, and recently bought the palomino horse

Yes. I'd have enough for an Apex by now if I hadn't spent them on some smaller items, but I'm happy with the choices I made and love the stuff I got. Seals have made it easier not to spend the gems though.

Depends on whether or not I can get enough Seals of Endeavor for something I want before the next wave of items. I'm a patient person as long as its feasible for me to get that 400 weekly average and be able to buy with that, if not then I would spend crown gems on it instead.

I used to save them until I found something I was 100% sure I wanted, partially because I never bought crates so I could only get more when there were free crates and partially because I didn't want to waste them.

Since endeavours were introduced I'm more willing to spend them because I do have an alternative, but I still hesitate each time, giving myself time to think about whether it's something I really want and will actually use or if I'm just wasting gems/seals.

Not caring about any of the "big prizes", I slowly spent mine (gained from the deluge of free crates in that first year or two) over the years on 16-40 gem items, as interesting ones showed up. I finally ran out a couple months ago.

I hit 10k crown gems for fun last year but have since spent most of them.

    JfVPCQU.png

There's really no point in saving them beyond what it would take to purchase any LTO crown gem exclusives. So don't feel like you need to collect them. It's not worth it.

Besides, crown gems are a terrible store of value. Keep your real life currency in something that actually yields a return. Personally, I try to keep ~3k crown gems in case I only want the 2500 gem Radiant Apex from a crate season.

Currently have 4667 and I feel like it's too much.

    JcZKSCJ.png

If I could convert a portion of that back out to $BTC or something, I would do that.

I typically spend my Crown Gems on a non-combat pet once I've got 16 of them. If I somehow have enough Crown Gems to buy something from the next tier of rewards, I'll either buy a mount if there's one available at that tier, or multiple non-combat pets at the lower tier if there are two I haven't collected yet, or a non-combat pet at the higher tier if I've already collected all of the ones at the lower tier.

As for Seals of Endeavor, I've been spending them as soon as I get 4000(?) of them, or enough to buy a mount (usually) or a non-combat pet (occasionally) at the Legendary(?) tier of rewards.

I really don't like buying crates to begin with, cause once you start, it's very easy to burn through all of the crowns you have trying to get that one thing. Because of this I don't have many gems at all. I ONCE looted the sweetroll that fetches you 400 gems, but something came along and those went poof.

I have only 58 left of the 400+ (after, like ArchMikem, scoring the sweetroll two years ago from the last crate I've ever bought). Used most of those on cosmetics and pets.

I just spent 3600 SOE on that Red Wolf mount for one of my PC EU accounts. I can handle spending the Seals, as I can replenish those without spending real money.

I never buy crates so the only crown gems I get are from free crates - meaning not that many. So I give priority to spending them over the endeavor seals since I'm pretty aggressive about building up those.

Yeah, I've never purchased a single crate, and don't ever plan to. Despite that, I've been able to collect quite a few non-combat pets and mounts by converting the stuff from free crates into Crown Gems. Twitch drops rock! :)

Yeah, I had a couple hundred Twitch drop crates, and I think I have received all the special prizes. It would save me time if they just handed out the expected amount of Crown Gems, instead!

we need other ways to earn gems..
i think issue is the people who can buy ingame stuff are okay but us poor people can not earn them.. if anything ther eneeds to be 10 crates every drop.. so that we can get gems..
but i know thats never going to happen no way,,
so why not just then let us earn them other ways like events and from bosses delves and other..
    this is amazing..idea..
gems .. are heard to get. adding another money currency was to me bad idea maybe not to others but , i think or other might agree or disagree.. o well.. but its simple.. let us use the gems to buy only.. and get rid of the other money .. earn in game and out game make it poor currency..
and gold for people who can buy crates ..
this is real thing and issue for some us are buying one time only not doing the monthly or yearly rent pass.
rather have in hand the game like game stop back in the day lol
iam old fashioned okay but this is way you know you getting what you paid for,, even if buy credits.. for the game then you know how much can get alot more ., than the pass ,,
if disagree fine waste you money it build up over time and wasting money more than anything...-
iam tight ass i know lol
but still cheap is good lol

I might deliberate over a 400 gem item, but I have no problem spending 16-40 gems if I see something I want.
But I'd likely use seals of endeavor first, as they accumulate much faster.

Man if I was good at saving my gems/crowns, I woulda bought that night sky ram in the last rotation of Radiant Apex Mounts. That thing was SICK. Too bad ZoS doesn't want me to pay a hundred bucks to buy it cause I just might have. I have 0 intention to spend hundreds upon hundreds to maybe get a mount I think is cool from Radiant Apex. Because it could be as little as 200 dollars up to a thousand just to get enough gems to buy one. If they just let you buy one for a flat hundo, I woulda done it for that one.

So no I'm not good at saving, I buy the *** I like. And sometimes that means I can't get the things I like a lot more than others like that ram, which is too bad. But hey, it's ZoS' loss not mine.

Even if you have only a little time to play, they add up quickly. I have already finished the weekly for this week, and I played maybe 2-3 hours today.

Not long ago I spent 8000 seals on a special mount, and I've already got over 10,000 again.

I use seals for expensive items like Apex Mounts (400 gems), as the seal/gem ratio for cheaper items is worse.

So I use the gems then on smaller stuff, like costumes/body markings for 16-100 gems.
I don't buy those for Euro, but fill up my gem reservoir now and then buying 15 crate packs from crownsellers.

If you play often and thus earn enough gold, this is enough to get the best stuff, only thing I skip are furnishings that I like, as I prefer to keep an amount for items I use every day ingame like costumes (I rarely visit my houses, so furniture has lower priority).

I did that when I first started, right at a year end event. I wanted the sparkly wolf mount to go with the skin. I spent far too much on that and now the mount is exiled on the PS4!

I never buy crates so the only crown gems I get are from free crates - meaning not that many.

For the accounts I play on (PC NA) I am usually spending at the 16 or 40 level, mostly pets occasionally style/motif-y things.

On PC EU I don't play as much so I probably have about 300-400 gems. I think I did get one mount on one of those accounts.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

I spend them. Houses, motifs, gold, whatever. I try to save up but I can never hang on to them for long. I had a target once of saving 100k crowns, but as soon as I hit it I spent them all :#

Nope, I don't spend them. I very rarely see things that I would love enough to make me buy. I believe the crown shop is for players deeply invested into the game and interested in all sort of stuff like motives, pets, colors, and so on...

I'm not like that. I'm a very casual player touching a minimum of the game content. I'm not into motives, recipes and such. I have only one char, level 50, all crafting disciplines maxed and researching finished. What I do in PvE doesn't require scrolls and/or food/drinks.
    Aside of that:
    - I don't want pets (can't stand to have something sticking to me like glue everywhere I go).
    - My toon is dressed with an outfit I love and I haven't seen better - to my taste - up to now.
    - I ride horses only and for that too, I haven't seen better than the one I ride up to now (or it's not in crown store).
    - I don't RNG so crates are out of question.

Housing could be one source of invest, but I decorate only one house, my main, and by now, it's almost full. So in the end, there is not much left and it's good for my credit card... :D

Only have 19, but I do plan to spend them on furnishing items whenever I have enough for something I like.

Endeavor coins for apex or radiant apex items since rates for gems is just crazy for those.
