Really don't want to sound ungracious because Free Event always welcome for lots of reasons but no access to the Crafting Bag this time?

Free Play means playing without buying the game.
It's different from free ESO+ trial, which requires to have bought the game but gives access to ESO+ benefits (which includes the crafting bag).

The current event is just a "free play", hence no access to the crafting bag.

As far as I can recall, it has always been this way so there's nothing different this time.
