@ZOS_Kevin
Fixed an issue where you could complete multiple Alchemy Crafting Writs per day on the same character.

This is a multiple failure.

1. failure to correctly identify the bug
2. fixing something not broken (alchemy dailies)
3. breaking something not needing fixed (alchemy dailies).

ALL daily quests in game permit, with some exceptions, the ability to hand in up to two per day by grabbing a daily quest on one day and not turning it in until a later day then immediately picking up the daily quest for that day. An exception to this, for example, might be something like a Bogrul undaunted daily where the SAME, IDENTICAL quest is available on the hand-in day and, understandly, you would not receive another quest that day.

You're not getting any 'extra' dailies from this, you're just handing in two in one day instead of one on two separate days. But it is very convenient for players unable to log in every day or are otherwise time-limited.

Alchemy daily writs followed this same pattern of daily quest behaviour until you broke it with this patch.

It was the OTHER craft dailies which did not reliably do so – the only time you could get them to behave this way and like every other daily quest in game, is if you did them on consecutive days. If you grabbed the craft dailies previously, the only quest guaranteed to be picked up after turn in of a 'stored' one days, weeks or months later – like every other daily quest in game – was alchemy.

Until you broke it with this patch.

Now if you grab the craft dailies the day before and turn them in on a later day you can no longer pick up the alchemy quest for that day. You can't even pick alchemy quests up on consecutive days.

Please revert this patch and fix the other craft dailies so they become repeatable in the same way as every other daily quest throughout the game.

Incidentally, the other, non-alchemy, craft dailies used to work, too, until you broke that in some patch years ago; players gave up asking for this to be fixed fix years ago and just tried to make sure to do craft dailies on consecutive days where expected daily quest behaviour could usually be guaranteed.

I didn't do an exhaustive forum search but, historically, the real issue/actual bug which should have been fixed is described here:

That's not how it works, though. Like your Bolgrul example, the only thing preventing us from picking up new writs for any craft is having the same quest (requesting the same crafted items) that we just turned in. Non-alchemy writs are on a 3-day cycle, where alchemy is either 4 or 8 days depending on tier. Those writs don't have to be done the very next day to get new quests; I've had writs saved on alts for months before doing them and being able to pick up new quests. It just depends on which day in the cycle you happen to turn them in on.

It's hard to say what "issue" they were actually trying to fix here, but the result seems to be that it's not possible to pick up new alchemy writs after turning in a previous day's. That's definitely a problem that they should go back to, so I agree with your bug report, but I'm not sure that calling other writs' behavior a bug is accurate when they all essentially work the same way.

That's NOT how the non-alchemy writs work for me and others I've spoken to and haven't worked the way you describe since pre-2018 (please see link in my OP).

If you leave non-alchemy writs for more than a day then you can't get new ones for the day of turn in.

It may be yours have been working properly, though, but that seems unusual from what I've seen/discussed.

    edit:1 typos

edit 2: @Ilsabet - I agree the non-alchemy dailies should behave exactly like other dailies (only blocked from new ones if identical ones for that day have been turned in) but this is not always observed.

Well, that thread is one person who never responded to the likely explanation that they had simply done their writs on the same day that the identical quests were being given. So I wouldn't call that conclusive.

I can't speak to what you've heard from other people, but if we're going by personal experience, then mine has always been as I described. I also just logged into a storage alt who had writs in her log from who knows how long ago, and she was able to pick up new writs for everything except alchemy after turning those in. I don't think I'm some kind of special anomaly, so I'll stick with my version of how things work. :D

The link was not provided nor referenced as 'conclusive evidence' just for information of an extant problem that arose years ago. Prior to ~2018 it worked as expected.

I've discussed with ~10 players who report the same as me (still ancedotal). I very much hope we're anomalous. We are and were are aware of the cyclical nature of these dailies (first thing tested over a long period of time).

Glad it's ok for you - I hope that's true for most! :)

    Thanks.

You could do up to 7 alchemy writs on the same character per day without saving any from any prior days.

    (Maybe 8? I forget.)

    lol !

I had no idea that was a thing.

Well, I guess that needed to be fixed but not at the expense of disabling normal daily behaviour for alchemy writ dailies.

Yeah, this issue was reported and broken down in detail almost exactly a year ago on the forums. I can’t imagine that not being enough time to test any fix. Of course the introduction of the armory changed the value to be gotten out of the exploit, and I have to wonder if that plus the anniversary event resulted in a rushed attempt at a fix.

    "Dallas, we have a problem"

I frequently pick up the daily writs on, say, Monday, but actually complete them on Tuesday, then do Tuesday's writs - With the proper timing, this allows me to only spend time doing daily writs "every other day", but not miss any days.

As of today, I noticed the following on at least 6 of my 10 characters...

Yesterday's Daily Writs, just completed and ready to be turned in:

Today's Daily Writs, just picked up:

I reported it as a bug each time I saw it. I will continue to do so. Whatever they "fixed" they broke something worse

    How?

The how is important, because THAT is what you patch. Instead it seems they added a behavior where each Alchemy Writ counts as a completion for all of them. The other 6 crafting dailies do not behave this way, and if they ever do, we'll probably get angry and our feedback ignored.

I would love to be wrong and see them address this issue, perhaps even with a hotfix, sometime this week.
