I agree. If they are going to do what Rockstar did with GTA5, they will do a big announcement that PS4/Xbox 1 will no longer be supported by a certain date. It won't be done overnight

It wouldn't just not be overnight. It's not going to be right now period. And anyone who thinks it would be is not paying any attention whatsoever to things zos is focusing on (upgrading their own failing hardware, rewriting failures in their own foundational code) or the current market (most players cannot upgrade rn). Like even if they had hypothetically jettisoned consoles right now it STILL wouldn't be happening because of their internal issues.

High Isle not having a new class has nothing to do with older consoles despite their limits because there is absolutely no realistic way for them to pull that plug yet and have the both the income and the freedom to do that. First they have to fix foundational things that were delayed by the pandemic, then they have to have enough projected future income coming in to justify such a change, and THEN they can consider sunsetting and making shiny new things.

Getting rid of consoles now would be putting the cart before the horse and actually ruin the game, not help it. Because games don't get better by losing the majority of it's players with no hopes of recovering them.

Much as I would like a new console, they still aren’t widely available, those that are have their price significantly inflated & a lot of places are having a cost of living crisis and, oh yes, there’s a war happening.

I apologise if my inefficiency to either purchase a new console or play properly on a pc is adversely affecting to OP & others’ gaming. But hey, just suggest taking away something that gives many people enjoyment & fun in dark times because you don’t get what you want.

(Yes, I know this will probably get me banned, but then this topic is already baiting to a large proportion of players. I dislike that consoles are considered ‘lesser’ by some, when if it wasn’t for consoles gaming would be nothing like the billion dollar behemoth it is today.

Speaking of this, why doesn’t Zos do a live thingy with people who play on console? Or get whomever (apparently there are) works there & plays on console to do something?

Somehow the huge elephant in the room is almost invisible.

The game in-itself is based on an outdated engine (IMHO Unreal is better)

The code is derived from producers longe gone, sadly.

The present coders play catch-up with ketchup as the result.

The actual coding is is sorry mess based on ancient structures.

There is a lack of talent to correct this unfortunate anomaly,
