Please delay the pc eu sharding

As a pc eu player Im watching the mess on pc na with dread seeing that they plan to shard our server on the 5th.
Regardless of the reasons your team may THINK, please for the love of playability, can you just delay the pc eu sharding until pc na runs smoothly for at least a week?

The fact that they even pushed this sharding to PC N/A when they already had a BUNCH of other problems with U33 is beyond me. The server is an inoperable piece of metal.... seriously.... SMH

I kinda wish (and don't know if this is technically feasible at all) that they'd untether server work from content updates.

New content always drives increased traffic as new and returning players show up to try out what's new. This, in turn, stresses the server. It seems like the more ideal schedule would have the backend work occur several weeks before a content update, when the player volume/server traffic is essentially off-peak, and with enough time to resolve any issues that might arise before there is the stress test of an uptick in traffic.

But I dunno. Maybe the software requirements of the backend work mean that it's not possible to roll it out before a major update.

I wish it wasn't scheduled for when it is, because April 5th is my birthday and I have the day off. Get some gaming in, right? Nope. The maintenance is from midday until 10pm. So thanks. Thanks for that. A bunch. :#

I am also worried. Call me a pessimistic (or realist) but even starting it at 4am at night - might still mean that EU will be down for 2 days. I appreciate the effort ZOS (imho all patches on EU should be done at night where very little people play) - but looking at what happened on NA server that for the most part performers way better than EU... I am even afraid of thinking. I just hope my save files won't get deleted in the process :#

Off-topic: Although I would be very sad to see people go, and it is likely that people I play with weekly and often multiple times a week would go, an APAC ESO server would I think be a blessing in the long run.

Some of our weekly trial runs finish at 3AM for them, during regular working days.

    Also, happy birthday in advance.

On-topic: I have a fair amount of misgivings for this upcoming maintenance; I don't really share Gina's optimistic excitement.

The last few events PC/EU has skipped the traditional 'PC/EU dead' troubles that had been commonplace in previous years (and garnered far less empathy and consideration from ZOS I may add despite being common and abundant); I was hoping that this would continue to be the case, but given how it turned out for PC/NA the chances of going back to the 'not very good old days' for PC/EU seem to me pretty high.

I can only hope that they prove my misgivings unwarranted.

Bah. Ignore me. Just realised there's a sticky in this forum.

edit - Actually kind of worrying. My performance has not been good since the last patch. Lot's of little micro hangs, often a fraction fo a section lag betweem input and ability even in overland. Not saying it's not playable, it's just annoying to the point I don't much want to. And they haven't even done this to pceu yet... Which, as we all know, is the unwanted *** red haired stepchild of the megaservers.

I wish you a smooth transition. PC EU users have had it worse than us on NA for a very long time, and the fact NA has been crippled ever since Update 33 for a large majority of players, makes me very nervous for you adventurers on EU with the upcoming sharding. I wish you all the best and hope that if we were the testing grounds, that you will have a better chance of making it through this next phase with limited issues.

EU has suffered enough over the years, I hope they learnt something from these past few weeks on NA.

We are finishing one event, which was difficult for PC NA, and now about to go into the most anticipated event of the year.

If Zos break their largest server before an event that requires logging into multiple characters they will seem completely incompetent.

Hahahaha. Just noticed that date. If the past (and the present) teach us anything, well, kiss most of EU anniversary good-bye.
Seriously cannot believe they are doing this on top of a major event just, SMH.

All Sammy wants is to play the game and not to have worries about long waits for login, long loading screens, various bugs which prevent gameplay (eg skill keys not working) etc.

Sammy just wants a functional game.

Is that too much to ask?

Tbh. It weird to ask for something as basic as "working game". This is something that we should expect... :/

When it was implemented for psn player we barely had any problem
Pc na just had the misfortune to het it on patch day on top of a defective piece of hardware

With pc eu having none of those 2 as far as we know, chance are for it to go smoother

But then again, its pc eu wich seem to always have proble according to the forum

I'm curious about what proportion of the regular ESO players are from the APAC region (I am, btw, I'm in Melbourne, Australia). Does anyone know of a site that gives this geographical distribution of ESO players ?

I was literally here to see if that was the case for anyone else. I'm an EU player but i have characters in NA as well, sometimes do writs and rarely some casual activities in there. I definitely haven't seen any improvements to my character loads in NA, it seems all i got is more input lag which is annoying even when doing writs.
