Cannot launch the game with the new patch

Looks like it was my reshader that was the issue. I can log in now

Well. I repaired another two times, the last time repair actually downloaded a couple of files and patched. And now the game is loaded to login screen, signed in, loading screen (extra long as usual after a patch), now logging in a character....

And I guess back to normal. Now I'm going to put my addons back and see what happens....

Confirming that it was something in my games client folder, likely shaders I had installed a long time ago and never used because after deleting everything in that file but the main game exe and running repair the game now works fine for me.

Can confirm that removing Daybreak fixed the issue and I can now launch my game. It's a shame, the game looks so much better with the fog pushed back. I don't know why ZOS doesn't add an option for people to push back fog if their PC can handle it.

Hopefully the Daybreak mod gets updated, the game is so ugly without it...

first the game refused to update cos 60GB space is not enough free for the update

moved it to another drive, game starts, but get this error

tried uninstalling to reinstall, but the installer only installs the unistaller then crashes

nice job zenimax i can't even play if i wanted to

I was able to get in this morning. Now I cannot get in. The game gets to character select, I choose my character and then get stuck in a perpetual load screen which lags my entire system.

Updated Nvidia drivers, renamed addons folder to make sure they all disabled, still can not get to the Character Screen, been trying to launch for over 2 hours now, submitted a ticket too. oh and done at least half dozen repairs, deffo not a happy chap atm.

Repaired game, updated drivers, renamed addon folder, crashes at the first Bethesda logo screen...

[edit day later] deleting shader files indeed worked.

I'm getting a login screen where the circle thingie is not spinning. not looking good.

My beloved next to me is getting crashes after about 1-2 min in game.

I'm still getting the same crash as others when attempting to launch the game. No reshaders or addons, so not really sure what to do. Repaired the files umpteen times now

I finally fixed it. The addons were absolutely unproblematic (reenabled all of them, working without a problem). It is really some shaders that bury themselves in the folder game-> client (not under C://documents, but the direct installation directory). Deleting the completely subdirectory finally fixed it.

Can confirm that removing Daybreak solved the issue. Sadly. This is the single most best enhancement to the game's visuals, and really, REALLY should be something that the game does by default.

We're in 2022, and you guys still can't give us a decent view distance so we have to resort to mods, and now even that isn't possible. "Thanks". Are you ever going to release an update that doesn't break something ?

I'm having the same issue as many here. I make it to the first load screen before character select, the logo stops spinning and never goes any further. I tried repairing, that did nothing.

Edit: I'm not using the Daybreak mod or anything similar, still can't get in.

Yet the game's initial release was on April 4, 2014... it's not a 2022 game. I think we should encourage the developers to focus on fixing bugs and lag rather than focusing on something that's not that important.

In other words... No issue for me after a successful download of the patch... I was able to login without any issues... I have windows 11 and have all of my drivers up-to-date.

I had this problem with Riva Tuner Statistics Server , if you using it setup eso.exe to low application detection level and turn on stealth mode.Also check any overlay apps what can cover game they can give troubles in new patch.

Ok I was having this issue as well and I also /think/ it might be daybreak causing it. However in order to remove it I had to delete the entire "client" folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client) and then do a repair and I was able to log in. (After having to re-verify my account)

Just remove those.

I thought I had removed Daybreak ages ago (just tried it out once, but didn't care for it), but it left behind those files. Deleting them fixed the problem for me.

Note, do NOT delete d3dcompiler_47.dll. That is needed by the game.

I didn't have any problems as such running the game, no addons or other third party applications installed and using older Nvidia drivers (I don't update fully working drivers unless there's a proven need to do so - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"), but I did find when installing the patch after this thread was well-established that when I returned to the computer after leaving the patch running it was auto-repairing and verifying a load of files before finishing. Has that been standard today?

Just finished updating about 10 minutes ago but I cannot make it to the character screen. Sitting here staring at the spinning logo wheel or infinity. PC-NA. After manually closing the app the music keeps playing forcing me to hunt down the process in my task manager. No matter what though, I am unable to get to the character screen.

You are breaking contract law. I pay you for access to the game. I cannot access the game. I want my money back. All the way back to 2015, you slack wits. Perhaps if you get hit in the wallet hard enough you might actually get this once potentially wonderful game to actually function.

Still unable to get in. Once I got the "1 sec to login" queue notification, but other than that nothing. Tried repairs, tried launching from Steam.

Now I can't seem to find any option to retry "repair" in the launcher...where did it go?

Edit to add: Oh BTW I cannot leave the game - when I try the Quit on the upper right corner, nothing happens, and I have to use Task Manager to close it to try again.

Edit to add: after trying many times and getting logged out for inactivity twice (apparently ESO likes funnies) it's now working. Can't tell what I did other than be really stubborn.

I updated around 3pm UK time, it is now 8pm UK time, still not got to character select screen, I have reinstalled Nvidia drivers, deleted a client folder and repaired, renamed addon folder to make sure it was not an addon, still get the same result, after login, the three spinning dragons (bottom right of screen) stop spinning and nothing just a decent pic to look at, NOT what I paid for, oh and NO reply to the ticket I sent. Not happy at all is putting it midly and as polite as poss

I guess I got lucky. Installed update and logged in just fine.
