Necro is good and a fun class. Just still disappointed so much about its "pets". Imagine actual summoned pets like zombies, melee skeletons, and flesh colossus as an ult summon.

Necromancers are not an aesthetic I enjoy in any game, so I wouldn't typically choose to play one but I have one for the sake of having all classes. But he's also my general purpose 'evil' character so he spends most of his time doing Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood stuff with relatively minimal combat.

The six characters I had prior to Necromancer becoming a thing were already more than I needed for anything more than bank space. I’d sooner start playing them more than start another entirely new character.

Yeah I feel similarly. I don't think there was enough (any?) emphasis on zombie stuff. Skeletons/bones everywhere. The whole bone tyrant line is meh except for grave grasp. Bitter harvest should intuitively be in living death. So many skills make no sense imo and could've been replaced by more appropriate ones. Heck even if only the stam morphs in grave lord were zombies instead because disease, that would be a big improvement imo.

Expunge: ''Embrace the power of death, removing up to 2 negative effects from yourself. While slotted, the cost of all your abilities are reduced by 3%.''
It's a dispel spell/purge so nothing wrong fundamentally, but it feels forced here, especially from the ''embrace the power of death'' part.

Half the necro skills are spot-on and the other half are just ??? to me.


But anyway I abandoned my necromancer because I didn't like the OC I chose for it. I need an OC who's more fit to be represented by necro, and I don't have one yet.

I more or less have abandoned my necromancer, but when I play on PTS, I often create temporary necromancer characters to try it out again. Basically, I don't see how or why my characters would learn to summon projectile, flaming skulls or grave stones instead more clearly established types of spells.

The skills are very clunky, doesn't feel smooth to play compared to other classes so I just play it sometimes and as a healer.

I like necromancer characters in games in general, but not ESO implementation.

Shooting fireballs with skull skin and summoning tombstones(!), come on...

I have two Necros I play regularly.

My all HP selfish tank (sits at 63K HP no food. Can get to 110k HP with Ult/Food.)

My AOE/DOT DPS (Averages 35k DPS on single target but I'm also bad lol)

Love them both. I have a lot of fun playing with my friends.

Probably the supports that buff my team the most.

Necro healer with Sax, SPC, Symph/Ruin with empower, AOE breach, major and minor vuln, minor berserk and minor resolve.
The potential to melt stuff with one of those on the battlefield is sweet.

I don't play necromancer in any game ever, and not be a "completion" sort of person, I don't have one just to have all the classes.

I got one, but he is relegated to the role of crafter number 5. As for his skills/bars etc, the last time I played him I set him up to be a 2 hander stamina clone (stampede/rally/cleave). Most of the necro skills just seemed all over the place and I was more comfortable just using him that way.

To bad as I would have loved to be able to command even 2 permanent undead pets, even if I had to unsummon them in cities, otherwise he is just another generic character filling up one of my crafter slots.

I'm honestly glad necros use their summons basically like rockets. I'm not a big fan of pet-classes, and I like exploding things so the jumping skeleton that detonates and the bouncing skulls are really fun, especially when they one-shot the target.

I have a couple of necros, yes. One of them I play regularly.

Unlike some others I bemoan what they did to necromancers. They should have had "pets" (if you want to call rotting corpses that) and such. They don't really feel as necromancers when they can't summon the undead hordes their NPC counterparts can.

My Nerco is my healer, I haven't exactly abandoned them, I'd play them if someone needs a healer, but I haven't played them in a year.

I have had trouble getting gear because I have like no resto staffs or if I have a resto staff I don't have a lightning staff for that set frustrating.

I only have one character and she is my magcro main. Been playing her since I started and I don't think I'll ever make another character.

Got a stam and a magicka. Still prefer my magplar amd magblade for damage, but the mag necro makes the regular rotation. Its heavily group dependent with its top damage setup, but it can put it out. I admit, the rotation is still wonky compared to the other two. Looking to eventually make a tank out of one of them. The skills seem like they'd be fun

Switched to Necro when it came out and I have barely played any other character since. Some PvP on my Warden during MYM, but other than that I only log into my other characters during the anniversary event in order to do writs.

With the armory system it is even easier. Sometimes I tank, sometimes I heal, sometimes I dps. Stick with one for a few days or weeks then swap if I want to switch it up.

My only complain about the class is more a complaint about ESO combat in general. I wish all buffs lasted 30+ seconds but preferably a full 60. In PvP I have to juggle 4-5 buff skills, giving me about a 10 second window to actually fight, then you have to start rebuffing again. That doesn't increase the skill threshold, it just increases the annoyance.

They don't feel to me like a traditional necromancer- its very abstracted and gamified. @alberichtano highlights part of it, for me:

I think from a purely mechanical perspective, they do look interesting- I think they did well with that.

Also, I'm still very resistant to jumping metas, especially for clearly cheesy op stuff designed to sell expansions. In PvE they've been relegated to a boring, gimped buff role (though that will finally change soon) and in PvP they've been super OP, very easy to make them super tanky but still pack considerable punch. Its toned down over time, but still.

i have 2 necromancers

one is a stam necro that is kind of a half tanky/half dps build and he works out really good as is

the other is a mag necro is set up for lot of burst dmg, but ive never really had a "good" build for him because i feel like (as others suggest) the summons are kind of garbage and no way at all considered good pets

blastbones are too janky because you can only have 1 active at a time which messes up rotations, why not just tone down the dmg and allow you to continue summoning them?

the wraith is OK, although the healing ticks are kind of slow at 2 sec, but its good healing, i just kind of wish it had more functionality than a literal heal bot

the other pet is just awful to me, the magicka one just feels incredibly weak (2-4k dmg every 2 sec is horrible dps and probably better from something else), and ive never tried the stamina one because its significantly weaker than blastbones and i only have room or 1 of these "corpse generators" on my stam necro

I have a necromancer in my character list just so I got my money's worth when it comes to having a necromancer. I personally don't play the class as it didn't captivate me in any way.

It’s clunky [snip] to use especially in trials. I also think some of its plain dumb in terms of class fantasy, raising a graveyard rather than hands clawing out of the ground?

One of the skills or maybe ultimate should be a pet. Skeleton to start for a bit of dps, morphs to Skele Warrior with bit more dps or a zombie tank.

I have two stamina necros and they're strong and really fun to play. I don't actually have a main character any more, so I didn't choose option #1 for that reason.
