Ah, this could be it. Although I think in some cases there are different words for royal titles, like king and queen. The thing is, in ESO we already have Lord and Lady! You won't be able to equip the Lord title on a female character. However, Grand Overlord doesn't seem to be a royal title, but rather a military title, which might explain why it is gender-neutral.The3sFinest wrote: »Lord, as well as other royal titles, are actually gender-neutral. There have been many female kings in the past. Overlady does sound terrible.

Personally I think we are all going overboard on removing all male references, like we can’t say mankind anymore in real life.

That is very interesting, I did not know that. Thank you very much. With real-life rulers it varies by country. In the UK a female monarch is still called a Queen and there just isn't a King because that's considered a higher rank. (Which is why Prince Philip wasn't King Philip.) In other countries a female monarch is called the King - Jadwiga of Poland for example was crowned King.

With that many players who choose Lady/Lord already in their character's name, it seems strange to see a "Grand Overlord Lady Whatever" around.
According to wiktionary a female overlord is an overlady: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/overlady
Azura, the Lady of Dusk and Dawn is a daedric prince. If it's good enough for Azura, I can deal with not being an "overlady".

What? I don't think they are asking to remove the Overlord title just add Overlady.
