Post Game Content for Blackwood

I am a brand new player to ESO as of very recent. I have bought all content there is to buy and pre order. I created a character and have played only the Mainline Quests for Blackwood. I am about to complete all of that content. Once that content is done, what post game content is there to do? I understand there are tons of side questing and crafting and grinding and such. But, since Blackwood had a year long event and is still active today, is there more storyline content attached to the Mainline Quests that you have to do to continue the story till completion? I know I can also go to Summerset, Morrowind, etc and play those areas as well. But, I would like to do as much as possible in Blackwood to completion. I really liked the story for this expansion.

In general, the "year long event" thing means that there's a story that carries through the Chapter, Zone DLC, and Dungeon DLC.

    So, for this chapter, it's:
    Flames of Ambition (dungeons DLC)
    Blackwood (Chapter)
    Waking Flame (dungeons DLC)
    Deadlands (zone DLC)

meanwhile, with ESO's system of no level increases & horizontal progression, "end game" isn't quite as pronounced as in some MMOs. Within Blackwood, there's a trial (raid), and there's a variety of dailies you can keep doing. But like sidequests, they may not have a strong connection to the overall year's story. (well, I know the dailies don't. No idea about the Trial)

edit: and I'm sure someone else can give a better, more correct answer ;)

By starting at Blackwood you have missed so many things that happened contextually before Blackwood ever happened. Take Lady Laurent and Stibbons which I’m sure you’ve encountered in Blackwood. These are characters you will encounter several times each with quirky quests along the way. Also you’ve only just met Lyranth in the Deadlands. There are several storylines in the game where she weaves in and out. Eveli Sharp Arrow is a huge part of Wrothgar’s storyline. All of Morrowind (Vvardenfell) and Summerset are just great story telling. Elsweyr and Dragonhold are among my favourites as well.

Play the other chapters maybe on another character and then play Blackwood again with context. You will be glad you did.

Thank you for the explanation. Very detailed and understandable. I will just keep playing as normal. By the time High Isles releases in June, I will be ready to tackle that area next. While waiting, it seems I need to go back through previous expansions and get the storylines on those as well.

Have a look at the achievement page for Blackwood if you want to go for completion. On pc it's a tab in the journal (quest) window.

the game itself has a main story.

Travel to Vulkuhel Guard (Auridon), Daggerfall (Glenumbra) or Davon's Watch (Stonefalls).

You should be approached by someone telling you to talk to "the benefactor". This starts the mainquest "talk to the hooded figure".

It is a far more "personal" story, focusses on your character, rewarding many skillpoints, and introducing you to characters you will meet again in several chapters (like Lyris Titanborn, but also Lyranth).

I would suggest to finish it first, then the chapters depending on your favour (like what kind of landscape/architecture/lore you like most).

Did you notice that there are some other regions too? Each region is having a specific storyline and many sidequests. And there's even more: if would like to play and enjoy the story itself you should do the main quest as already mentioned above and the different regions in a specific order. There are some threads already how to do this, one you can find here:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/549674/someone-made-a-really-nice-flowchart-showing-the-recommended-order-to-play-this-game-sorry-if-dupe

Go ahead, there's a world to save

Thanks to all of you for the info on this. This was a lot to digest. But, rewarding at the same time. I will finish Blackwood first since I am so close to completion. But, I also created a new character and ran through the training prologue. I chose to start in Morrowind this time. I play one character on XBOX for Blackwood and this new character on PC. So, when the TV is taken over, I still have ESO to play and enjoy on another system. Looks like I have a ton to do now between both characters. Thanks again.
