I know that some people can get a bit tired of Bastian's comments..[err .. I might be one of them]

My beloved has been running all of his various characters through leveling antiquities/Mirri/Bastien which has involved a lot of switching companions and many many times Bastien will say something about the beauty of the place

which I admit, I mostly ignored.

And then a few min ago, jogging back to meet with someone in Cephorah tower, I went a bit further to take a peek .. just to look around

    NMpCvp8.png

You can see that Bastien, Princess Buttercup (her royal porcine majesty) and Listens at the Door kind of all crashed into each other looking at the beauty

So we edged a bit further to the cliffs.

    XJ9gUJ8.png

    Maybe...

Maybe the Divines really were in a good mood

Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

My characters — I love how I can customize so much about the look of each as well as voices, outfits and playstyle. This is essential to me.

I love being able to explore everywhere and the variety and beauty of the world.

Housing — I love to create places of my own within this amazing world.

Great voice acting and many wonderful NPCs.

I love working together with others to overcome challenges and the great people I’ve met via group finder and run with again! :relaxed:

I love how you keep meeting the same characters again and again through your adventures, and how well some of those characters are written.

I adore TES and have been playing since Daggerfall, but one place where I find the series has fallen a bit flat for me is memorable characters and any sort of continuity with those characters. I really liked Barenziah and Helseth and was hoping the fifth installment would let us hear how they were doing, but... yeah.

ESO is like a bunch of Elder Scrolls games in one big package, and the same characters keep weaving in and out of my own characters' stories. I really like that.

With Valentines just around the corner, I thought I'd make a post about everything we love about ESO. So slap whatever it is that gets you playing and having fun!

Please keep posts positive and about things you like. I know you probably have things you don't like and are eager to share those, but I'm really wanting a upbeat and positive thread here. So if you NEED to share things you don't like, then make another thread about that. Just you know... not here... if you would please :P

Its big so theres stuff to do.

But also, the variety in the game. I love finding new recipes and motif pages. I love completing achievements, especially those that I've been trying/wanting for years to get done. And when I get sick of doing a particular thing, I can choose one of many activities.

I love the open world and ability to travel anywhere in Tamriel! The amount of things to do in this game is amazing!

Most of all I love the community that has been there literally IRL and ofc in-game. When my eldest son was battling brain cancer my family, friends, co-workers, etc were there for me but so were many of my closest ESO-buddies always checking in on how his treatment was and followed our son's journey on social media...it's truly what they say...#ESOFAM and for that this game will always have a special place in my heart! <3

I really liked the last event.
It was great that it spanned 3 zones, which were alive and busy, but I still felt like running around and seeing the zone while harvesting resources was easy and I didn't feel like it was overcrowded :)
There are many more things I love about eso though :)

As much as I love to complain to the devs about this game, I wouldn't be here if there wasn't something to take away from it.

Direnni Acropolis - without doubt, the best quest in the game for me. The first time I engaged it, I was enthralled. The setting. The story. The choice at the end. So haunting and riveting. If only there was a DLC in which our choice came back to haunt or help us, depending on that choice.

The artwork - For an MMO, the majority of the game is just downright gorgeous. Though, whatever happened to the assets for the XSX, I do not know, but the draw distance and the "heavy fog" came back to ruin what should have been a rewarding visual experience. I hope this is corrected with an updated patch, but in the meantime, the HDR will keep me company. My goodness, watching the lighting change in real time as a storm approaches is phenomenal.

Voice acting - No, not all of it is great, but here's the thing: every conversation is voice acted, which I can't say is true for many other MMOs. Trying out FFVIX, yeah, never take this for granted, folks. You will miss it when it's gone.

The choice to play as we want - okay, a few issues here, but things have changed over time to allow this, and it's only getting better. Finally starting to see armor cater to the build, not the build type. Now, if only we can get rid of the annoying full attribute reliance for distribution of damage, we'll be set.

The music - If you've played Oblivion, you'll recognize most of the songs in the game. Shame the opening theme isn't in the game, but I'll take whatever I can get.

The Community - People talk about FFVIX's fan base as being nice, but I believe it's no different than this community, as a simple chat request for assistance usually fares well for the recipient. Whether it be crafted sets, a few lockpicks, or help with a boss, the people behind this game really make a difference to make it feel like it is a world.

Now if we can only do something about the incessant greed from the guild stores. ;)

Now if you'll excuse me, someone needs help in Auridon.

The Dominion rules! All hail the queen!

Hmmmm, there are so many things I love about ESO the game...but the lasting impact to me has been....

I have been gaming in MMO's since 1999 (hey EQ..I am looking at you)....and i have played in many mmo's. I have played at a very competitive level and played a lot of PVP of the realm vs realm variety (as Cyrodill is) as well as enjoying PVE. I do love both playstyles.

Back in the 2000's, I cut off some fingers and had them re-attached. They don't work they way they used to. I also have a couple of fingers and one thumb with pretty much NO feeling in them. It makes gaming hard. I pretty much stop doing any kind of group playing. If I couldn't do it solo...I didn't do it. I saw no reason to put my limitations on other people and thereby holding them back.

I got one of those drive-by invites to a guild a few months ago and I checked them out and decided to join them. They taught me a lot about how to play; even with my movement challenges. I know there are lots of people who play competitive that are way worse than I am...I am not as good at adapting as they are and I have nothing but amazing respect for them. I will never be top tier fully maxxed out player (which by itself was hard to accept). This guild taught me how to try to be good enough that I didnt feel like a burden to groups.

I have been joining dungeons. Having a great time too; even forming a group over the weekend to keep running Falkreath for Pillar gear with complete strangers!!! No one noticed that I wasn't a top tier player.

And for more firsts?? That same guild encouraged me to try out a couple trials for the first time this weekend. It freaked me out...because reaction time to mechanics with my movement challenges is a long learning curve. Over the weekend; I did nRG and nKA. I died too much in RG....I was better in KA. So far out of my comfort zone...but it felt great to party with people having a good time in a setting I havent been able to enjoy in years.

So after all of those words??? I love the opportunity and encouragement that this guild provided me to enjoy aspects of the game that I had shut myself off to and to do so without judging me based on my limitations and I love that this game allows that to be possible.

The zones: all the beautiful, mysterious, and otherworldly areas we can visit; the stories, quests and NPCs, the humour or unexpected dialogue that can be heard in even the briefest encounters; the music; the lore, how complex and rich it is, and how interesting it is to find something during a quest that makes you go and read about it for a while; the combat, which for me is the best part of the game: fast, reactive, and really satisfying; the endless creativity that housing brings; the community, which regardless of its good and bad, loves this game fervently; and last but not least: my characters and my Vestige <3

I love lots of things in game, but one of the more enjoyable things that rarely changes is finding fun things the devs put in game to screenshot. Here are a few cool things in game I have spotted.

    Screenshot_20220113_065434.png?width=832&height=468
    Screenshot_20220208_230732.png?width=832&height=468

I also love all the skeleton vignettes! They are absolutely one of my favorite things! If only we could leave notes by them ala Dark Souls. "Don't give up, skeleton!"

I love all the spooky stuff in general in this game. I love that it's interwoven into the fabric of it, too, so it doesn't seem out of place.

I love the talking creatures! Blackfeather crows, Alfiq, Arox! All A+ little friends.

I love mounts. I have a real problem NOT collecting them, but there are a lot of them that are very thoughtfully done. I appreciate that we're slowly getting more varieties, too.

I love arenas! Or the idea of arenas, since we only have two. In the course of one year I've gone from intimidated by them to being a solo achievement chaser. Nothing else in this game makes me want to peacock so much. I just have like, nothing left to do now. Please, more content like Vateshran Hollows! Perhaps with fewer bugs. 🤣

I love the housing! Sort of. I've been discouraged by it because it's becoming an unreasonable grind and the potential money sinks are everywhere. But, I do like how flexible it is. One of my favorite things to do is combine items to create something bespoke, like unique furniture, effigies and water features, and I absolutely love putting trees everywhere.

And I love the ambient sounds. It's relaxing to turn the music down and just have a quiet evening running around picking flowers and so forth. Sometimes I really just want something low key to do, and listening to the wind, the babbling streams and critters allows me to imagine I'm off in some remote cabin, sitting on the porch with some bourbon coffee, wrapped in an afghan and watching wolves play in the snow.

I do love the activities that make me stay in ESO although I'm not a 100% fan of the game:
    - Scrying/excavating
    - Housing
    - Stealing

Aside of those specialties, I do love to wander freely in explorable, harvesting resources and collecting chests/portals, fully relaxed without any stress, in beautiful landscapes (like Summerset for example).

2 main things. After years of another mmo back in the day( I won't say the name but it has a nEVER ending QUEST system) it's nice to be able to solo more than the newbie yard and not feel like I'm wasting my time. Especially on a "melee" character

2nd is theory crafting. Until EVERY viable solo build gets nerfed for some reason it's fun to step out of the box and try different builds.

I love being able to do most of the game SOLO. Yet, unlike a single player game, I get to randomly help others or see other people running around so you don't always FEEL 'alone'. The addition of Companions was definitely a positive step for soloists as well... allowing us to tackle more difficult content (group dungeons) solo without having to have perfect skills or BIS gear. As someone mentioned back on the first page, one of the frustrating things with FFXIV for me was being forced into group dungeons just to progress the main storyline... which initially wasn't bad until they started forcing you into ever increasingly difficult group dungeons making pugging just to get through even more stressful. I've never done a DLC group dungeon in ESO so I'm always missing part of the storyline... which sucks... but overall I don't feel I'm missing too much.

Environment design. Many landscapes are very beautiful, some even stunning. Also, most of the zones feel quite unique even when they fit the "feel" of the larger region (e.g. Glenumbra, Stormhaven and Rivenspire are quite different from each other but still are recognizably High Rock regions). Many cities are great, too. Alinor, Abah's Landing, Balmora, and many more are very atmospheric places.

Questing. The writing has its flaws (repetition, over-explaining, dialogue options that make the PC look dumb) but I understand the reasons why those flaws exist and can overlook them. The plots themselves, however, are usually so exciting or interesting that the "one more quest"-syndrome is a real thing.

The combat system. Could be refined and made more versatile by e.g. expanding the ability bar, but at its core it's enjoyable and can support many playstyles (even mag-stam-hybrids to a certain degree).

The fact that the game can be played solo, or in groups, or combining the two styles. As a lifelong single-player gamer I appreciate how much can be done solo in this game, but the option to do group content is very nice, too, and one I have used much more than I originally anticipated.

The music. Great tunes that set the atmosphere nicely, truly worthy of an Elder Scrolls title.
