Heartwood drop rate

That doesn't explain all the Psijic Portals that contain nothing more than a common Runestone does. I'm pretty sure selective looting does occur, and that at least some players who like to selectively loot don't have ESO Plus. And even if they do, they might feel like they're leaving other players something to loot.

Also, if it's being done by bot accounts, and the character's inventory slots are all used up, and whatever slots happen to have stacks of rough wood in them are maxed out, but there's at least one slot with a stack of Heartwood that isn't maxed out yet, they'll end up taking the Heartwood but leaving the rough wood. I suppose that in those cases the rough would will get frozen in the node as Rough Maple, because it seems unlikely that the bot would have a high enough Woodworking rank to harvest Ruby Ash.

Anyway, I don't think it's out of the question, although hopefully it's not rampant behavior.

On portals it's much more likely because it would consume a lot more inventory space for a non plus player.

I do remember a long time ago that Heartwood seemed not to be dropping for me *at all* for a week or so. And then it went back to normal. It was pretty weird.

While farming during this event my rank 10 crafter in everything was getting Jora level 1 runes. Someone was taking out the potency and/or mundane runes from several nodes.

It happens.
