What do you mean price creep?
They just decided to up the cost.
All legal.

Its bad enough they're behind horrible RNG to begin with.

I would just like to see them add nice apex type mounts for crowns once in awhile. I guarantee they would make more money if people knew what they were getting.
Zos loses money with me. The last crates I bought was way back when summerset launched. Got the psijic sench with the first batch, but will never do it again.
If I could buy a mount or pet I really wanted, I would throw money at them. Their loss I guess.
The best things about these items: Not necessary in the least to successfully play the game.

Zos reads the forum posts and lots of people where super excited to get the costum as you could read in the comments of the datamined post a while back.
Super excited people=more chances to milk them.

This one does not know, but she hopes your family is safe in Riverhold.

I was excited to get the costume, thinking it was going to be for crowns and not in a loot box. I didn't automatically lose interest when I saw it was in a loot box, but I did lose interest when I noticed the tier it was on.
I also noticed they "upgraded" the new instrument to be a higher tier than what the new instruments were in the Bandaari crates.

No we wouldnt, the community has been asking for more unlockables from actually playing the game.

IDK, I look at it like this:
If I am paying 400 crowns for 1 crate. The minimal expectation is I get 4 instances of crown poisons (or something else in that lower tier). Anything beyond that is a bonus. At a minimum, I am paying 400 crowns for 4 lower tier items. So, before purchasing just ask yourself, are you cool with paying 400 crowns for 4 lower tier items? It's a guaranteed reward, you will always, at a minimum, get one of these items. You may get more, but you will always get your crowns worth of items.
True gambling would be:
I pay 400 crowns, with a chance of getting absolutely nothing in return. I may get a crown poison, I may get a mount, or I may get nothing.
In the second scenario, there is not a tangible value of return on my crowns. I am either getting something or I am getting nothing. In the first scenario (and the one true to how crates work), I have a minimum value I am purchasing items at.
You know ESO's new tag line "Play your way". It is not up to you how I determine to play this game. YOU might find cosmetics unnecessary to play the game, I do not. If there were no cosmetics, no housing, I would not be here. For me, to play ESO, these cosmetic items are 100% necessary for me to play the game. There is a failure to grasp the difference between a need and a want, I think. To differentiate betwen an actual necessity and something that you desire. This game would be completely playable without any of the cosmetics, and even any mount beyond the most basic stable horses.
You are not the one to determine what is a need a want when it comes to any players enjoyment of the game. I don't need to play ESO, no one does. But in playing ESO, I DO NEED the things I previously listed, else I would not be spending the massive amount of money I spend on this game. The only way that the crown store could be viewed as a necessity is from ZOS's end. At that point, we're talking purely economics. They have multiple streams of revenue. Without revenue, there's a risk to the survival of the business. ZOS needs to make money. You don't need to play this game, let alone buy stuff from the crown store. You want to buy stuff. You do not need to. See the difference?
From a client/customer perspective, nothing in the crown store is necessary. Even the game itself as entertainment isn't a "necessity."
